Ha ha fantastic. Made me nostalgic thinking of the early days driving a 80’s w hauling heavy gear. I wish it had a Detroit in it thou :( hopefully the diff isn’t too far gone
That would have been great fun! The w model handles the weight quite well and I really enjoy driving it, the diff is abit sad trying to source another one, I could run this one again but it has had abit of a hard time so I’d like to put a reco one in it hopefully
It makes it much more manoeuvrable than a standard quad axle float with no rear steer, they just go with the direction of the trailer so no hydraulics ect, I’ll get a clip one day when I’m working on it
So good to see your dream come to reality. What's with the Jakes, not hooked to brakes/ throttle? A 92 is sweet at any time but exceptional when under load
Thanks mate! I’ve spent a lot of time on it to get it to this point so it’s great fun to get out and drive it abit! I havnt put the buffer switch in the governor housing yet so that’s why I’ve got it hard wired to the switch, I’ve got the switch just need to put it in 👌🏻 100% I love it when it’s under load
Just leave that Jake turned while down changing. Not so good when unchanging. Or fit a micro switch to the clutch pedal to disengage the Jake when pushing in clutch. 👍
Hey mate thanks for the tip, I just need to fit the buffer switch to the governor and then it can be all wired up correctly and everything put back to normal and I can leave it switched on then Cheers
Great stuff, you've got to love the sound of a two stroke Detroit. In a normal situation, how high do you take the revs to and how low do you let them down before changing gears?
Hey mate I’m not an experienced driver with these old engines by any means but I tend to sit between 2000-2500 rev out to 2500 and let it lug down to 1800 ish No idea if that’s right😂 Thanks for watching!
Hi Jake looks great and seems to burn pretty clean. Looked to handle the job great. Too bad about the differential! Gosh wonder how many kilometers it has on it? You’ll probably want to get a reman to replace it then it should be good for a long time. Usually the rear one lasts longer than the front in my experience. Boy looks like it rides much better with a load on it! Stay cool
Hey Darren thanks for watching, it did handle it surprisingly well I was quite happy with it. Apparently the front differential was recod before the engine went in the truck and it got parked up so if that’s the case it wouldn’t have done many kms since the diff was out last, but it definitly didn’t have a new gearset. The speedo is reading about 700kms could be original or its second lap around It does ride much better with a load on it, it’s a bone shaker bobtail😂
Thanks for watching mate! I’ll probably fit a reco box at some point in the future this one is great but it does have some play in it which is a pain but the big steering wheel also makes it look worse than it is too! Same to you mate take it easy.
Good ole Screamin’ Jimmy turning diesel fuel into noise at a very high rate, right? To me it’s very weird to see an old W9oo drive on the wrong side of the road, from what it would be to me, the passenger seat. LOL
