Too many people don't like long thorough Reviews but the details in you're 4x4 me you make it where I want and need it thanks bro for all your hard work.
Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 you have done the 4x4 DD tarp it’s justice. An amazing piece of multifunctional kit . So many variations of setup . I only use about 3 👍👊🍀
I can absolutely attest to the amazing powers of this DD tarp from a trek I attended with Boonedockery 4x4 me and he and several others were deep in the WV woods when he set this beauty up…after the long, long hike, to sit with a friend inside a warm space and sip a beverage was indescribable to every single persons’ morale. Prior to that we were all cold, sullen and self-isolating but after that we rallied, got a fire going and rejoined each other’s company. Wonderful product and warm memories!
I also recalled it rained the entire day, we walked through cloud cover for about and hour before we descended to the camp site, and the temperature dipped down to the mid fortie's while we were setting up camp.... Good Times Indeed!!!!
I didn't even know DD made a tarp that size. I'm gonna have to get an olive 4x4 for me. Love your videos and they are getting better, keep up the good work.

Best review of a tarp I have seen in a long time. Been thinking about getting a 4x4 ME. Now I am sold. Not thinking about it any more. Going to do it. Thank again for the review.
Loving your videos dearthair...you're a breath of fresh air. I look forward to each one. I'll be offline for a couple of weeks.....I finally get some time off! I get two weeks off, first I've had since June! It's all about 4x4 for me this next couple of weeks! God Bless ya Mr. Boone!
I Love That You Called Me Dearthair! Thank You! Dearthair! A Celtic heart beats in a different rhythm. It's been years, but I use to play the Bodhran! I really miss those days of sessions at the pub. But I'm where the Lord wants me to be now, replying to you! Sláinte!
I've been a DD Hammocks patron for years, prior to the MC release (3x3 tarp, frontline hammock and 'new' burgen). The one thing that has impressed me is exactly what you stated, there is NO repeating pattern!! I've never been able to see a repeat. Something that I have NEVER found in any other camo tarp. TOTALLY impressed. As to the 'mutlicam' pattern not suiting some US environments, one has to remember that DDHammock is based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The environment that the camo is designed for use in is quite a bit further north than most of the USA. It is more analogous to parts of mid Canada (latitude). Granted, DD Hammocks is now a global company. However, it was/is still very much a UK based company producing for the UK/European market first. And as far as customer service...Nick (founder) is quite quick to get back to customers no matter where they live. I've corresponded with him DIRECTLY, several times, re: DD products (NEVER re: a defect/complaint). He is so attentive, he implemented nearly every suggestion I forwarded to 'improving' the DD Burgen Rucksack and Action Pack (I admit, he may already have thought of them before I said anything. But he NEVER indicated he had, so, great 'listener'). For outdoor equipment (if DD carries it) they are ALWAYS my first 'go to' supplier; the quality of design, build and ESPECIALLY pricing. That's exactly why DD was my choice for my first 'bushcraft shelter' purchase (3x3 olive tarp). The reviews and the pricing were absolute ANCHORs in my decision; and I've never regretted it. DD is not 'high end', money burning a hole in my wallet, kind of items. But they remain my FIRST recommendation to anyone wishing to spend more than a 'walmart tarp' when starting to get into 'bushcraft' or 'hiking' shelters. You can spend tons more on equipment, but for 'value for money' before deciding IF you even like this kind of stuff...DD Hammocks!!!!! And again, thx for the REALALISTIC review (and the torture test, that result was quite impressive).
First of all I apologize for the delay in my reply. I had 5 of my videos that "went NUTS" and my normal two or three comments that appear daily increased to hundreds. I have had to deal with numerous personal issues to include the death of my Mother. I have been replying to comments daily and I still have more than 1,000 to go. Secondly, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST COMMENTS I HAVE EVER RECEIVED ON ONE OF MY VIDEOS! So well written and succinct! I REALLY Wish You Could Have Been My Co-Host For This Video! DD should hire you as a full time spokesperson! I agree with every word you wrote and your insight concerning the development of the pattern is spot on! Thank you for posting this!
I've been looking at these for awhile now just never quite pulled the trigger. The multicam 4x4me particularly piques my interest so I'm glad this video was on it specifically! Thanks so much!
Another fine video Brother John. Thanks for your insights on tarp construction and esp. on the reinforcement of the tie-out points. I've used inexpensive tarps a lot, but I go ahead and reinforce them so that I can get a season or two out of them. I use 4x4 me as a base material. Keep up the good work. David
I’ve bought DD products since their inception. Camping hammock, frontline, frontline XL. Tarp wise I own 3 DD’s, but unless I’m lightweight backpacking, my DD4x4 goes everywhere for its versatility. I stuff mine in one of my side pouches of my long back British forces bergen. Folding isn’t the best. It creates creases. Stuffing is far easier and better too. Ram it in, job done👍
They also make a 3.5x3.5 meter version which I own. It's the perfect compromise between the 3x3 and 4x4. The tarp fabric is Polyester btw. I like polyester because it doesn't absorb water and it doesn't stretch or sag like Nylon. Polyester is also naturally UV resistant. Nylon is more puncture resistant and slightly more durable tho
First video of yours I have watched and you have a new subscriber from the UK! I currently have a dd 3x3 in brown and I love it, but its not particularly stealthy and more tarp means more configurations (or more grounsheet inside) so have been looking at the multicam variants and the 4x4me. I am thoroughly impressed by the level of effort and time you have put into this video. I havent seen anybody else on youtube that has invested literal months in the testing to the point that uv bleaching is noticable! 10 out of 10, and I look forward to browsing more of your content
I own the dd 3×3 and i know that this tarp is gonna work in any condition or weather. Easy to configurate for every situation while a tent is " just a tent"
I've honestly been looking at getting a 4x4 me for my use. Based on your review, it might have to be a bit before I get the 4x4 size but I'm glad to hear one positive and in-depth perspective on DD equipment.
If you hang it 90 degrees across the ridgeline, you can use the two center guyouts as pull-outs. it will give you a great deal more inner space and a bit more structure
I've always wanted one, but here in New Zealand, they are just too expensive. We have to order from, and wait for delivery, from the States. Good score, brother!
Oh Brother! I have found some items on eBay from New Zealand I would have bought in a heartbeat but the shipping more than doubled the price. Same for me with ordering from the UK... I Feel Your Pain Brother!!!
The multicam 4x4 me is a nice piece of equipment. One of the first Bushcraft videos I ever saw was with a tarp similar and he showed like 10 different ways you could use it. I have yet to this day ever got one for myself. Thanks for the thorough review.
Good video (and great purchasing advice)! Really nice looking camo as well! I agree that the vast majority of stuff sacks are way too small! I have used a Aqua Quest Defender 13 x 10 ft woodland camo tarp exclusively for my Blackbird Warbonnet XLC hammock for years and it's great.
Awesome! If Facebook weren't controlled by corrupt leftists, I'd have an account and I would love for for folks to share their set-ups, kit and gear! Maybe Elon will buy meta and clean house there too...
@@boonedockery7220 I like the bigger size of the DD tarp! Agreed, I left Facebook years ago and don't plan on returning because of the BS. I also quit posting on Twitter for same reason, perhaps I will go back...
Thanks for doing such a thorough long-term test of a DD Tarp. I prefer a larger tarp, so it would be the 4x4 ME. I like the option to seal off the ends by using the tabs that are a bit farther down the tarp.
If you look at some of my older videos, you will see how I use bungie cords to overlap the flaps. I have a DIY project in mind that will radically improve the set up. Gotta find the time...
4x4me !!!!.... U have a very unique channel Sir.... Very informative in many different ways. ... Looking forward in watching ur channel grow and future episodes. Be safe out there!
Thank You! I try to produce a little of a lot of of different subjects related to my outdoors interests. I'm glad you like what you've seen! Have a great day!
I was not excited about the camo pattern until I used it. It is ideal for my neck of the woods year round! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Those who doubt a larger tarp have never needed to complete projects in inclimate weather. Tarps might arguably be THE one size does not fit all piece of gear: EDC bag: emergency tarp Hammock: mid size rain tarp INCH gear: DD4x tarps and Farm Tarps Heck I lived through a Washington winter in a cabin tent back in 2016. Without a few runs to Harbor Freight and generous additional tarps, stakes, bungees and clips that experiment would’ve lasted 2 months instead of 15! As an irrelevant side note: guys? If you’re working three jobs and hate your roommates just bomb out and go live in a tent for a year. You’ll save at least $12k & life will recalibrate. This 2022 slave mentality starts in our damned programmed heads. I liked my 12x12 tent better than where I live now. It was a $300 Walmart cabin tent into which I built furniture and pitched it on pallets as a sub floor. The addition of an all weather patio rug and some of those dehumidifier bags were necessary up here as was insulating with e-blankets for winter. I even constructed a free standing clothes rack out of 3/4” PVC. Admittedly I had a power strip which was a game changer and was in rural unincorporated land where crime is non-existent. Anyhow we all know SHTF is around the corner anyway and guess what? The first victims are gonna be those who couldn’t bear to leave their STUFF. Buy good tarps. Break the programming. You’re worth it And remember the old USAF survival videos. One tarp with another strung over it leaving a 2 foot air gap cuts down brutal heat by upwards of 20 degrees. Rock on
Whoa Brother! You Are Preaching To Ears That NEEED TO HEAR YOU!!!! THank You VERY Much For Posting This! It VERY EASILY Can Be Life Changing For Those That Read This! Either NOW Or Post SHTF!!!! THANK YOU AND PLEASE KEEP POSTING!!!!
Hello Brother, this is one outstanding review on an absolute awesome Tarp. this 4x4me is a beast. I have no personal experience with it but a friend of mine had one for years ! The discoloration of this Tarp makes it even more awesome in my opinion, blends in perfect with your surroundings. Thank you for another great, informative and entertaining video.
I agree completely! The color is great for fall through early spring. I have an experiment in mind for one. If I can find the time, it could be a real game changer!
Gonna try this again. I'm having issues deciding on whether to multi cam 4×4 me or coyote 4×4 me as either one would work. Seen a bunch of good things about those tarps and their hammocks as well. Keep up the good work, brother!
4x4me as I just got one of these and I’m excited to see how this “massive” tarp as another reviewer describes it performs in a tent with a floor configuration. Also, it seems to me that you should be able to put a small fire under it if you leave the ends open for that smoke to escape and use a second tarp in a low to the ground configuration with an opening toward the fire and be quiet warm. Unfortunately is just becoming summer here in Arkansas and I don’t understand the concept of camping in the summer heat. Might have to take a trip north just to try the 4x4 me. Great video. Glad I found you. And I know the contest is over, just between you and me.😏
Max, the size of this tarp opens up possibilities of multiple tarp configurations! Used as a "plow-point, you could definitely have a small fire under it and the single high corner will facilitate draft to draw the smoke like a chimney. Summer camping is my least favorite, however with practice and the right kit, it can be done enjoyably. I live in southeastern Ohio and temperatures in the 90s is the norm with High humidity.
Thank You! I purchased my Anorak from SEALS Action Gear in Canada about twenty years ago. I don't believe they sell them any longer? Have a great day AND weekend!
Good video (and great purchasing advice)! I am definitely going to check it out!! 4x4 me!!! Really nice looking camo as well! I agree that the vast majority of stuff sacks are way too small! I have used a Aqua Quest Defender 13 x 10 ft woodland camo tarp exclusively for my Blackbird Warbonnet XLC hammock for years and it's great.
Another great and detailed product review, Brother !!! This shows the strengths, and minimal weaknesses, of this tarp. It gives us, your subscribers, and random viewers, a good idea of the personnel that are interested in this item. As a former 11B, I know how much we depended on a poncho or tarp in bad weather...and I would like a 4x4xme...and in good weather, for shade. Good luck to anyone that gets this tarp !!! Keep up the great work, Brother !!!
Brother, If my life weren't so chaotic I would Love To! Keep on me, maybe we could get something together this summer. Don't forget abot The Old School Survival Bootcamp at the fairgrounds. I'm teaching there again this summer.
Been holding off on these, looking for unsponsored reviews - this was it. Great review, think you sold the multicam 4x4 for me, though the coyote would bee a close second
Recently I have had companies contact me to do reviews for their products. I explain to them that I don't "REVIEW" anything I haven't used for a long period of time extensively! I will always state the product was sent by a company when I share it on a video. Everything I have reviewed so far was items I have bought or was a gift from a longtime friend. I always want to keep it REAL!
Fan of brand that rhymes with Aqua Quest. Thanks to you. I am getting one of these, not as a replacement only as another option😊. I will say the Defender is also just awesome. Great review for sire
@@boonedockery7220 As i sort of eluded to you persuaded me to go the DD 4x4 i ordered the following morning arrived the following day. It’s AWESOME the space is amazing for as light as it is. You answered the concern o had “is it durable?” I read the reviews many of them. This is an Excellent alternative for my AQ 15x15 Defender soooooo much lighter. Thank you for your video
Great video I might need to get one. Random question could you do a update video on the snugpak special forces sleep system, how you've found it in the summer winter time and quality and how it's held up??? I need a new sleeping bag but it's a far bit on money for a decent one and want to make sure it's the right one before I invest the money
I'm suprised you only have 8k subs, your a pretty interesting guy and entertaining to watch. I plan to walnut dye some acu pouches for a jaakari backpack soon, thanks to you. I'll be looking out for those sweet acu deals at the surplus store now!
Thank you, I'm glad you appreciate the way "I" do things. I'm not a template kind of guy. I hope your walnut dye turns out well. I'm still working on trying to lighten mine a bit. Don't forget to check eBay. That is were I have found my best bargains.
@@boonedockery7220 just fyi but I think I found the secret to a really good looking olive drab type color. 1 bottle of apple green rit dye, 1 cup salt and 1/3 cup vinegar per 3 gallons of water. rinse and wash with detergent. Then RE dye with black walnuts, and it will subdue that bright green quite a bit and looks almost identical to od green. only problem is the velcro sucks in alot more of the green but not too big of a deal i just cut most of it off.
I also think, that a 4x4me Tarp is better instead a 3x3 because the many configuration possibillities. You can close the sides what gives additional protection against rain and winds. Thanks für the video and stay as you are. Take care.
The U.S..military ponchos ripstop nylon is coated with urethane and then the seams are coated with it after its sewn...I've been able to find the fabric as surplus in the past, makes great tarps and stuff sacks...I used it for bivey shelter floors too....I'm intrigued by that fabric ...is it loud?
Was wondering why you didn’t run the ridge-line of the tarp perpendicular to the paracord. This would allow you to guy out the sides for even more interior space
I've been looking at the DD tarps, not sure what size 3x3, 4x4 ME, and I saw in another comment 3.5x3.5. Never used a tarp for camping, just tent. But I'm looking into tarp/hammock camping.
I've shown my hammock tarp setup in a lot of my videos. for my purposes, it's a very spacious one person tent that I can use camp furniture or work on projects if it's raining or snowing outside. I will probably never use another cold/inclimate weather tarp configuration for hammock camping.
Great video Sir! I hate when companies include a stuff sack that is not practical, but it seems like it's worth it. You said it was 4x4 MEters, that thing is huge.
Hey, brother John! I really dig the crazy "multicam" that DD has going on here. In a way, it reminds me of the German Flectarn I am so fond of, and that stuff works incredibly well as a breakup, too. And as per the rather large size of these you're showing off here (you know my eye has a way of making things YUGE as per my HULK ruck I showed you, haha!), I'm gonna have to ask that you 4x4 me so I can see for myself just how awesome these are! Many thanks for all you do, sir! Rock on, brother John!
hey, boonedockery great video. again. Thanks for all the work on your videos, always a treat. I've been a fanboy and subscriber since your ilbe video. can only confirm what the quality is concerned. I've had a 3x3 meter for years and haven't had a single problem until now. in any weather. (Except over plus 30 degrees temperatures. I can't stand the heat.) I've already considered getting a 4x4me ter DD too. I think it's great how your jacket goes with the tarp and in some cases even really well blends in with it, especially in the scene where you have your glasses on. Greetings from Vienna, Michael
Thank You Michael! I plan on experimenting with multiple camo patterns throughout the winter. Going to try a little mix-n-matching. I found it interesting that you mentioned how the patterns in the video compliment one another in spite of their differences. have a fantastic day!
I feel like I recognize DD's multicam. To me it looks like a recolored version of the italian vegetata camo. 4x4 me. The colors have been changed significantly; the italian camo is very subdued, even compared to your weathered example (but that makes sense for italy). The density of greens seems a bit low to be effective year round in my environment, but it looks good for fall/ winter/ early spring. im gonna check it out.
I have used it year round and it has been very effective were I have used it. It reminds me a lot of German WWII Pea Dot camo. The German's produced some amazing patterns during WWII. The Russians currently use a pattern called Partisan which is a direct copy of German WWII Oak Leaf pattern.
@@boonedockery7220 those camos are ahead of their time! When it comes to ww2 German camos the one that seems to match the most is Leibermuster. It got copied basically 1:1 by the Swiss and became Alpenflage (a personal favorite of mine, have you seen that battlejacket!?). They really experimented a lot with universal patterns or at least universal gear, such as the reversible camo smocks. I desperately want to buy a repro of that but I am a penniless student and can't justify it. If I showed up to class in SS camouflage I would find my way to the Dean's office rather quickly.
@@ianslaby5703 I remember my penniless college days... I have a repro SS oak leaf smock that I will wear on the channel. I'm simply going to refer to it as Russian Partisan. I don't get folks today. They want to erase history, yet loose their ever loving mind over it? I had two very dear friends of mine that served in WWII, One, Bill Crow, U.S. Paratrooper. One Teddy Freyer, German Wermacht. They were enemies during war time but best friends post war. I have no invested interest in hating anyone. I disagree with many events, ideologies and evil people from the past. My knowledge of them will allow me to recognize current and future reoccurrences. Which I currently see. Staying vigilant but not fretting the past.
I'd have to check but I've had either their 3x3 or 4x4 me multicam in my Amazon wishlist for at least a year. Other priorities though. Nice review, don't mind it being a bit longer either with some included story time lol
Thank You! I really just try to be me and some folks, apparently must not like me... I'm very glad you liked the review. I honestly wasn't expecting much out of this tarp when I received the first one, but boy, was I pleasantly surprised! Is your "avatar" a mecha? kinda looks like a Macross Tomahawk. Very Cool!
@@boonedockery7220 lol kinda. Probably dating myself a bit, its originally from the game Battletech and the later Mechwarrior video games. It's a Timberwolf (Clan designation) and also known as the Madcat (that name actually has a kinda amusing backstory).
@@TAVAAR7 I went to your channel page and saw the larger image and saw what it was. FASA! One of the best game company's that ever existed and Gene Rodenberry destroyed it... I was an avid player of the Star Trek Tactical Combat Simulator game. Later, I played battle tech briefly. I could honestly type for a long time about FASA and their awesome games, but, I'm exhausted and have to hit the hay. I was really excited to see your avatar and even more so knowing you were playing FASA games when I was. Blessings my friend! Have a great evening!
It's an anorak. I bought it about 20 years ago from a Canadian company called Seals Action Gear. They were one of the first companies producing Crye's Multicam Clothing. I don't believe it produces them any longer. The fabric is the shame type that the British used for their smocks, just in Multicam.
Reminds me of the British pattern CBRN top, but way more practical. As a teen, I used one as a wind jacket after stripping out the charcole liner. It worked well. It's a pity the company folded
Firstly, the size depends on how many people are going to be under the tarp e.g. the 3 x3 is ideal and more than enough for one person in a hammock or even two people on the ground etc (and as tested and shown by Chris Ryan, UK SAS in the jungle). Second, the camo pattern is mainly for the UK environment, but world environments will differ dependent on the seasons, foliage, plants, trees etc indigenous to a location at a given time etc, think this is also important to emphasise. Camo patterns are seasonal and will vary dependant on country and terrain.
To the best of my knowledge (as limited as it is), Charley's book is unique. I personally had never seen any other book like it. As far as "off roading" goes, I do not. My Jeep is my only mode of transportation and I don't want to risk loosing it even for a day. I would have loved to have been able to keep my old red Jeep for an off road vehicle, but..... money.... ☹😉
Hey boonedockery, I've been a long time subscriber and love the videos, great content keep up the good work. My version of multicam is more like yours but it still looks great and would be a great 4x4 for me. Best wishes and God bless!
Thank You Brother! It took a while for the pattern to beat it through my thick skull how awesome it is, but I'm glad it did! I still prefer Crye, not because it's better, but because I like it better. I believe you understand what I'm saying. Blessings be upon you and yours!
I've got a 4.5 x 3 tarp multi. Good tarp but I'm kind of tarp dumb, and really have issues with set up a tarp without trees or posts etc. I really want to learn about how to set up with walker sticks etc. Help.
We are living in an incredibly awesome time as far as camouflage patterns go. When it gets down to it, it has less to do with effectiveness (because MOST are effective) it has to do with personal preference. My favorite color is green. That is my personal preference. Multicam, by Crye, is my favorite pattern because I like it.
Excellent Video John,,,, it’s the 9th. If I am not to late,,, 4X4me,,,!!!! And John,, Iam pretty sure that Your mansion in Heaven,, will include multi-cam,,,,!!!!! Blessings my Brother,,,, Joshua
Many camouflage patterns work best in the seasons where trees have their leaves, but this DD pattern and color scheme works equally well in all seasons with the exception of snowy conditions.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! My Mothers Maiden Name Is Stewart! I Own 4 Kilts! I Was BLESSED To Visit Scotland AND Wild Camp There About Ten Years Ago Not Far From Edenborough! Thank You For This WONDERFUL Post! Just What I Needed This Evening!
i agrere witthe bag comments you cant half fold half half half, roll as itd too long, you ahve to half half half third PERFECTLY thrist it otherwise it hangsout, the reasonw hytit doesnt fit is because the used the bag from the tarp thats smaller, the 4x4 is the basic tent but with 2 extensions on either side of the middle seam, to change it form a 3x3 to a 4x4,
@@boonedockery7220 I really don't see a whole lot of difference in a lot of these tarps as far as material goes. There are the few outliers that use something wildly different and people don't buy them again. But over all it comes down to the tie outs and the seams and most companies now seem to follow a similar pattern, sealed seams and reinforced tie outs. DD doesn't seem to do anything too special that other companies don't other than offer a 4x4.
True. Not all the viewers that watch my videos are as knowledgeable as you and may benefit from an extended description. I try to consider the beginner as well as the practitioner when I produce my videos. Have a good day.

Thank You! It's a great tarp and camo pattern!
David
Thank you Brother David! DD has changed the world of tarps IMHO! God Bless You Brother!
THANK YOU FOR THAT INFORMATION!!! I deeply appreciate that! Have a fantastic weekend!
Fantastic! Welcome to the family! Thank you for your kind words! I hope you find one or two more videos you like. Have a great weekend!
I own the dd 3×3 and i know that this tarp is gonna work in any condition or weather. Easy to configurate for every situation while a tent is " just a tent"
TRUTH!!!!!
Had my 3x3 MC for years, out most weekends and its still going strong. Blends in very well in the UK woodland.
I've honestly been looking at getting a 4x4 me for my use. Based on your review, it might have to be a bit before I get the 4x4 size but I'm glad to hear one positive and in-depth perspective on DD equipment.
Brother, When I Received Mine, I Was Not Expecting Much.... Boy, Was I Surprised!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I have got the tarp, looks awesome, so will try a test pitch in the new year.
Awesome! I hope you like yours as much as I do mine!
If you hang it 90 degrees across the ridgeline, you can use the two center guyouts as pull-outs. it will give you a great deal more inner space and a bit more structure
Thank You!
Really enjoy watching tarp reviews, 4x4 me is a one of those tarps that people love to have…
I agree!!!
Good video (and great purchasing advice)!
Really nice looking camo as well!

I like the bigger size of the DD tarp!
I’ve been looking at these tarps for awhile, I just need to pull the trigger and get a couple of them. Excellent review brother!
Thank You Brother! I truly believe they are the most practical tarps for our use during times to come in addition to recreational use!
4x4me !!!!.... U have a very unique channel Sir.... Very informative in many different ways. ... Looking forward in watching ur channel grow and future episodes. Be safe out there!

I ordered one last night, on Amazon! Thank you for your review. I'm excited to get it. The camo looks good!
I was not excited about the camo pattern until I used it. It is ideal for my neck of the woods year round! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Those who doubt a larger tarp have never needed to complete projects in inclimate weather. Tarps might arguably be THE one size does not fit all piece of gear:
EDC bag: emergency tarp
Hammock: mid size rain tarp
INCH gear: DD4x tarps and Farm Tarps
Heck I lived through a Washington winter in a cabin tent back in 2016. You’re worth it
And remember the old USAF survival videos.
@@boonedockery7220 Fall through early spring is my time of year to go out there, You make me very curious about your upcoming experiment !
I have one of these. Your right, cannot get it back in stuff sack. I use a dry bag to put it in. Thanks for sharing
Hahaha... I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Gonna try this again.
I'm having issues deciding on whether to multi cam 4×4 me or coyote 4×4 me as either one would work. Seen a bunch of good things about those tarps and their hammocks as well.
Keep up the good work, brother!
Brother, it'll be a tough decision, but I know you'll make the correct one! Thank you and have a fantastic weekend!
I think the decision has been handed down. 🤔 Multi-cam.😎
That 4x4 for me looks really cool. Holds up well of taken care of. I need one of these.
It has become my favorite tarp!
Great video, and thanks for the review. I do have a question: where did you find your anorak? I want one! 4X4ME

@@boonedockery7220 just fyi but I think I found the secret to a really good looking olive drab type color. 1 bottle of apple green rit dye, 1 cup salt and 1/3 cup vinegar per 3 gallons of water. rinse and wash with detergent. Then RE dye with black walnuts, and it will subdue that bright green quite a bit and looks almost identical to od green. only problem is the velcro sucks in alot more of the green but not too big of a deal i just cut most of it off.
from the ridge line tabs fold it into 4 half again then roll it fits no problem back in the bag

I also think, that a 4x4me Tarp is better instead a 3x3 because the many configuration possibillities. You can close the sides what gives additional protection against rain and winds. Thanks für the video and stay as you are. Take care.
Thank you, and I agree! I will continue with vigilance!
Dude love the content and was always curious about the 4x4me! Thanks for the review
Thank You Very Much! Have a great weekend!
Thank You! Setting it up, it is more loud than the Survival Solutions tarp I own, but once erected, it's pretty quiet.
Was wondering why you didn’t run the ridge-line of the tarp perpendicular to the paracord. This would allow you to guy out the sides for even more interior space
I usually do. In my haste of setting it up to film, I must have completely overlooked what I had done.
It is but can be quite compact. I'll demonstrate that in my next video that will be posted the 9th of December.

I've been a fanboy and subscriber since your ilbe video.
can only confirm what the quality is concerned. I've had a 3x3 meter for years and haven't had a single problem until now. in any weather. (Except over plus 30 degrees temperatures. I can't stand the heat.)
I've already considered getting a 4x4me ter DD too.
The 4x4me is a great piece of kit, multiuse and very durable.
Truly And Absolutely!
I'd have to check but I've had either their 3x3 or 4x4 me multicam in my Amazon wishlist for at least a year. Other priorities though.

That's an interesting shelter solution.
I've got to ask, what is that smock you're wearing in this video ?
30:07 Dude there are many different versions of Multicam these days and DDs is one of the best for us in UK anyway

large tarps easier keep in a snakeskin
i agrere witthe bag comments
you cant half fold half half half, roll as itd too long,
you ahve to half half half third PERFECTLY thrist it otherwise it hangsout,
the reasonw hytit doesnt fit is because the used the bag from the tarp thats smaller,
the 4x4 is the basic tent but with 2 extensions on either side of the middle seam,
to change it form a 3x3 to a 4x4,
It's easy to get back in the bag if you just shove it in there instead of folding it
I tried that. I got it in there but the facets from the creases made it look like a disco ball in the sun. Not a fan.
@Boonedockery yeah that happens but it's worth it to me personally
I wish DD had a competitor who made a 4x4 tarp at a better price. $100 for a tarp like this is just too much.
As long as the competitor produced equal quality.
DD doesn't seem to do anything too special that other companies don't other than offer a 4x4.
lots of talking for what is basic tent fabric and other tent materials
