- A successor to the popular Passat CC, the new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line (RM221k) is priced to go against the BMW 320i (RM242k) and Mercedes-Benz C200 (RM252k) here in Malaysia. Is it a worthy alternative? Here's Hafriz Shah checking it out, comparing what it has over and what it lacks against the two premium compact exec cars. Would you consider this over a 320i/C200?

Arteon is a really great looking car, especially with this Yellow color and that sporty steering wheel 😍😍 gotta say, Volkswagen really did stepped up with their designs 😂
Should come with full spec like in other countries,.and of cause the price will be much more.but i believe a lot people will buy the full spec of Arteon if available here.Very Sexy exterior especially the front part.
This car will surely sell like hot cakes with the 7-speed wet clutch and the beautiful design.
Should be compared with 520i and E200 if you see the size. And all this has almost same weight n engine output also.
I wonder what the price will be if they bring the 4Motion to Malaysia? Another RM80k more expensive?

a big yes to me. I mean the space is absolutely way bigger than those 2 germans. AEB is not important since if you buy car over 200k, definitely you are not upgrading yourself from myvi right? so basically, you are well behave and experience driver who will be very careful and focus on the road. Plus, i do love VW brand as it is not that expensive and quite good quality and greater driving experience compared to honda and toyota (typical malaysian favorite tho). hahaha again, it is my opinion
Yes, I would strongly agree, been owning Arteon for two months now and I can say this is the best looking, comfortable and the most practical car in the market right now. The interior has clean looks and AEB does not work as well on a rainy day though.

The facelift isn't necessarily better: touchscreen climate control, haptic buttons on steering wheel, no more analog clock, fake exhaust tips made even worse with quad appearance on facelift. It depends on what you prefer.

The exterior looks really stunning, but the spects...come on VW Malaysia~ this is 2020 and about to 2021...looks on what BMW gave comfort access~ and you don't even give BSM? The new Passat is even better on spects?🤔
I love this car. Power is sufficient. Too much HP will make cost of running higher so it alright. Don't mind the interior too much as it's smart & practical. Not too much unnecessary touch screen like the premium brands nowadays and I love that it have a proper complete sound system. But the lack of ADAS is not acceptable. WTH man. Even Perodua, Proton, Honda, Nissan & Toyota have those. Understand that the price will go up but at least give us the option to choose. This exact trim & colour with the latest facelift and ADAS is the perfect mainstream brand sedan for me.

The fake exhaust vent, it is because the standard R-line in other countries has the real vent, best guess Malaysia version is without due to price cutting. They cant custom made the tail just for Malaysia spec (much more expensive). Same goes to front bumper vent, by right it should be real.

VW malaysia is greedy, want to make it easier for them to maintain by using the same gearbox and engine and almost everything under the hood. We didn't get the real European artwork with better 2.0 engine

our currency is sadly poor. In order to compete the market share, it has to sacrifice some of the features. Keep in mind that other countries (US/UK/EU) this car is priced same as e-class/5series

What is the reliability issue since this Arteon using wet dual clutch?
Its 7 speed wet clutch mate. That is far more reliable that most of the CVT's and Auto trans out there.
If only the interior was better this would destroy the 3 series and C class. What a disappointment.
Better wait for arteon mk2 with better specs.

The Volvo S60 T8 is priced far higher than this, closer to the 330i/C300 rather than the 320i/C200.

in other countries this is priced along with 4 series/a5 or even 5 series/e class. cant expect much for a RM220k car in Malaysia. This certainly a bargain.
And also even the A6 and XF as in other countries..
