I am not ashamed that I cried multiple times during this documentary. World of Warcraft has touched my heart and taught me endless life lessons. It brought me joy when I was learning to deal with depression and the harsh realities of life. One of my few regrets in my short life is that I cannot go back and relive all the precious moments that I was blessed enough to enjoy. Thank you, Blizzard. Please, never stop pouring your heart into your work.
Yes, the liberals are slowly destroying this rotten old world of conservatives that has been causing so much misery and pain to so many people, just for the sake of "normality" and conformity, inhibiting unnecessarily the richness of their souls. We liberals embrace cultural relativism which shows us that what we were told to be "natural or "normal" is in fact just a social/cultural construct that can be changed and since it causes harm it should be changed. There is absolutely nothing wrong about feeling moved by something that is dear to you - that means you experience the world intensively, that you are not inhibited by a stupid, baseless stereotypes like "boys don´t feel as much as women" or "boys don´t cry" - that you FEEL. You are a very close minded person if you think that something is objectively a complete waste of time and on the contrary that something is objectively "valuable" - you are forcing your own values to someone else´s life and judging it according to them. I played WoW for 7 years and I don´t regret it one bit - it helped me tremendously in ways that you can´t conceive because your understanding of the world is so terribly limited it hurts...
@@billypeterson2399 unsure how you got my political affiliation from my post. Only thing that you validated is that your personality is trash. You're probably playing fortnite now lawl.
I'll never forget reaching the tops of the mountains surrounding Mulgore with my two best friends and seeing Thunderbluff for the first time. The sun was setting opposite of the city when we arrived. With the sun quickly leaving sight and the stars beginning to show themselves we ventured to the heights of Thunderbluff where we saw the sprawling land we had just traveled from stretching far out into the distance. We were so adamant about leveling, getting experience and proving ourselves. But for just a moment, we all waited in silence until the sun set over the mountains before we continued our journey to becoming heroes of Azeroth. There's some things you just can only truly feel from playing Warcraft. We had never seen anything like it in a game and I'll never forget it.
Really makes you think about what VR is going to feel like when it gets going in mmo games. Even if they implemented a hacked half-hazard oculus rift playable world of warcraft as it is now you could really lose yourself in that world.
It was such an honor to be a part of this wonderful documentary of an incredible game and company that has done so much for it's community. Looking forward to all the amazing years to come!
I never tell people my real life story to why i became a WoW freak, I won't got to specific in location or my life style but my story on why i played WoW involved the ghetto. My family who took care of me when I was in my young teen years were always worried I would end up a drug head or dead on the streets like all my other friends who would gang bang. Honestly, I wanted to join them and was apart of that one crowd that called WoW players "nerds" or "no lives". I got annoyed and tired of my friends since all they wanted to do was get in law breaking trouble so one day while I was on youtube i came across a bunch of WoW videos and was amazed, I didn't know this was WoW until i read the title of a video and decided to try a trial since a add for WoW was on the side. Years later here I am, Some of the friends i used to hang out with years ago are dead or in prison but I am still out here, I thank blizz because they really got my life straight and turned me away from the path I was going down. Respect.
stay strong man, it is a good thing not to end up on that path.. make sure you just follow your own.. I had to leave some of my friends in order to have the kind of life I wanted. I don't like peer pressure and I will never succumb to it. wow is like family, it's always there to cheer you up :)
I've been a player since Wrath of the Lich King (on and off), and I've NEVER been so immersed in any game as much as I have in World of Warcraft. I've had many, and such fond memories of playing WoW ever since my very adolescent years. I was just too young to comprehend exactly all that was going on; realizing all of the game's ins and outs, its unrivaled beauty that has made many players pour out thousands, even millions of different versions of a sense of exploration, revelations, and inspiration. My most fond memory was when I first discovered Old Ironforge, and King Magni Bronzebeard incased in a magical-crystalline shell. It was almost like I was staring at a celestial figure, pondering the various markings that lay about the floor, and what history lye upon the chipped and aged walls. Blizzard Entertainment made my childhood the best years of my life, and it is a kind that should be sought after by many other children from the coming generations. I feel that everyone should be able to experience the same feelings as I have, and just maybe change some significant perspectives on some view points in their own lives. Thank you, Blizzard. For Everything. Have a good one, -Spaghettios-Dentarg BT: Johar#1858
And i quittet the Game with WOTLK. Not because i don´t liked it anymore. It was because my life changed, i was grown and hot not enough time to play a game like WOW (Job, a Kid and all that stuff). But even now, after years i still feel connected to it. Thats why i watched this movie. WoW was such an amazing experience and a really good time. These days will be in good memory for the rest of my life :) And i was really happy to see some Characters and Mobs came back in my life with Hearthstone. So i just want to say to all the WoW Players that are still out there: Good luck and have fun! I love you Blizzard!!
One thing I've always loved about Warcraft and being a WoW player was how much you can just tell the people who made this game wanted a good game and they want people to have fun. They really want to do their best to make it the closest they can to perfect because they love it, too. It's inspiring how truly passionate everyone at Blizz really is about the game and the players and the world. I think that's a large contributing factor to how WoW has stood the test of time so well against other MMOs and just other games in general. Everyone has their complaints or things they'd do better or whatever, but that aside the people who make this game really do care. Keep up the good work Blizz, I hope to be playing well into my 80s so you best be putting out another 60 years worth of content minimum
I wanted to learn how to heal in wrath of the lich king. I met a holy paladin that took the time to teach me. That holy paladin is my husband now. We have known each other close to 10 years and been married for 1 year. WoW allowed me to meet the love of my life and my best friend.
that will never happen to retail wow because game is anti social, where in other hand we in classic wow are small community but everyone is happy with game, retail ppl play game and dislike it most of the time
I've always seen Azeroth as my second home since October 2006. During Hallows End was the time I first started playing with an account we shared with in the family and later created my own account in April 2007; which remains one of my best decisions so far. Thank you Blizzard for giving us the oppertunity to explore the rich world of Azeroth. This whole experience was certainly enhanced with the amazing community, so I'd like to thank the players I've met during my adventure. See you on the other side of the portal, let see how the Iron Horde fare against the powerful Horde and the mighty Alliance.
Lightninghoge It's just not the same as it was before. Today everything is online and massive but when WoW was released it was still dial up connections and it was about single player. Experiencing so many players back then was jaw dropping! People did in fact really miss a lot. :v
I really do feel sad that I never played WoW, I was far to young to play when it first came out and currently, since I play on console, my PC is probably far to weak to handle the game.
I've rewatched this movie at least 4 times now and I just watched it again today, and what I think keeps me coming back to watch this is to almost re-live a memory of a Vanilla WoW player and see what it was like to play back then, how the game was more of an adventure, not all about just queuing for the rewards. Life is about the journey, not the destination, and that just makes me sad that I wasn't able to experience what Vanilla was like. I am currently 14 (Turning 15 later this year) and when WoW first released, I was 1 to 2 years old lol. I got interested in WoW because of my dad. He was a player from the day it released. I grew up watching him play, and my best childhood memories was when I was around 3 to 4 years old and my dad would let me sit on his lap and spam spacebar, because it made his character jump, and at the time, that was the best thing in the world. It made me laugh a lot. But when I was around 6- 7, I forget when sadly, my dad allowed me to make my own character, and actually play it. This was my dream at the time, little kids like me didn't have any life goals, I just wanted to be like my dad. I've been playing WoW ever since.
I love this documentary. And I'm honored to have been part of it. Thank you for letting me share my story, thank you to everyone who has written me to share theirs, and thank you to Blizz for opening their hearts to all of us.
Was such an honor and privilege to be part of this and it definitely turned out great :) So neat to see how the fulfillment of the dreams of the designers and developers have in many ways allowed me to live mine
I agree, but strangely enough, as usual they never mention Warhammer which has been more than an inspiration for the creation of their own world, even if Warcraft ended up with its own style and lore.
35:10 True what he says about sunrise as one of my most memorable moments on WOW was during sunrise, was around 4 : 30/5 : 00 AM in Mulgore playing my old Tauren character levelling my cooking when another player came across me and started talking, got talking for an hour about the game and random things, I didn't even know the person yet we were talking as if we were friends who haven't talked in years. That was about seven years ago now but it has always stuck in my memory, two things I have always loved about WOW, the beautiful, often epic scenery and atmosphere (and music at that) and the sense of community among players.
I have seen everything in life. I have visited over 30 nations, seen and been to the Atlantic and the Pasific, the Red sea, and The Dead Sea. I have made love to a supermodel (well she looked like one) and talked with a nobel laureate. Yet i have fond memories of Darnassus when i was a young boy elf. I might die and think of my life in this world, like most, or i might think of my adventures in a super big tree on Azeroth. I hope i live a long time but when i do die, i know what i'll reminisce about. That's how powerful WOW is. Maybe i'll call out to my mom with my last breath or thought.....or maybe not. Maybe i'll think about my first love. She was beautiful. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow.Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or love. Or Wow. Or maybe i'll die before having a thought.
How have I missed this documentary all these years? This is so awesome! Having had the chance to interview a Warcraft 3 developer, I have a much deeper respect for the work that went into all of Blizzard's work.
Pre cata world of warcraft gave me so many feelings that are impossible to portray in text. Every attempt people make to describe those feelings always looks so dull and basic... but i know what is locked behind that text, and it was absolutely amazing!
7 Years of World of Warcraft and i start to tear up when i see a lot of this. I love Blizzard and everything they do for us. This game is a community , a way of life and a common grounds between those who wouldn't have any otherwise. I implore anyone who hast played this game to just jump in , try it. You will create everlasting memories and maybe even find a world that feels more like home than anywhere else.
I know the night before logging out when Cata was released, I remembered staying up all night, doing multiple screenshots to capture how Azeroth looked. When I logged out then back in and saw what had become of Azeroth, I remember almost wanting to cry. It still gets me seeing an area or spot changed. I love this game!!!
I'm playing wow since 7 years now, and I did not regret it. I love this world, and I have many fun memories from this game. The one thing that I will never forget when we were running through Arathi Highlands to Wetlands with my Warlock friend to do a quest in order to be able to summon a Succubus. The land was beautufil. Great plains with the ruins of a big city...I loved it. Then we got ganked by a higher level paladin two or three times. After that we decided that we should avoid the main road, and move through the plains. It was a great adventure :)
I liked your story Robert! I really loved that time when the world was new and you actually had to travel large distances for some quests. It really WAS an adventure. PS I hope you weren't mad at the paladin, he just did his job, which is to kill evil demon loving warlocks!
Yeah, those memories are awesome. Having to work to get your next ability. Feeling overwhelmed by the size of the world. Walking into STV for the first time and getting ganked all the way to Booty Bay lol.
Truly amazing! World of Warcraft is the perfect game, thanks Blizzard for creating such an amazing classic. World of Warcraft has been a part of my life throughout the last 6 years and I'll always have a place in my heart for this game. I think everyone who experiences World of Warcraft develops those nostalgic feelings. I remember my first time playing and following another player from Ironforge all the way to Goldshire and just being blown away by the size of the game, I remember my first experiences with all the holiday seasons in the game, a truly magical experience. God bless!
I can't believe I'm in a documentary about something that has literally changed my life. Pretty emotional experience. Happy Anniversary World of Warcraft. - "Short"
AbilityPowered WoW is the best thing to happen to me. Cant describe how glad i am to discover the game in late 2006. I'll never forget those memories, ever.
I think the biggest thing about whats wrong with WoD at the moment aren't these little things everyone has been complaining about on the forums, its at 40:40 where I realised what it is: Warlords of Draenor feels off, not personal (on alot of levels: storyline, music, overal setting, and then the little things from the forum posts like garrissons, etc..) And when I think back like these people at 40:40 about the memorable times I had I can name alot of em, but none of em happened in WoD. So I think more than anything WoW just needs to become this social, hard but rewarding world that projects that atmosphere. It needs to be "home" again Sorry for this philosophical little rant but thats how I feel, and if other people feel the same, I hope this little thought will reach one of the Devs will read this and take something from it.
+MarryJewana I totally agree on this. I have thought of it myself, but I couldn't find a word to describe it. I hope Legion will be diffrent. More personal and memorable than WoD
+MarryJewana the best part was when chris metzen was reminiscing about his "cool" idea of breaking the world for cataclysm. and his design team was like "uh, dude... like what?" with the topper quote being "the game is doing really good and you want to break it?"
One of my favorite WoW stories: I started back in Vanilla as an Orc Warlock... one of my favorite areas is the Badlands, because at level 40, i managed to make my way there via the long trip from Undercity south through the Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands and Loch Modan through all of the Alliance territories.. Entering the Badlands I was in awe of the zone because my previous favorite zones had been the barrens and thousand needles.. I was standing outside the horde outpost looking through my quest book when an undead priest came running up with his hunter friend and asked me to summon another player. I had yet to meet a priest in game and immediately became friends with him, I gave him some healing cloth gear that I wouldnt be able to use as a warlock, and we summoned his friend.. Years later That priest and I are still real life friends and have each made many a road trip to hang out with each other for a week at a time even though we live roughly 2000 miles apart.
World of Warcraft is the greatest games I ever played. World of Warcraft has inspired me to become a Computer Animator, today I am a Student a Full Sail University, learning new and better ways to become a animator, in hopes of one day walking up to the amazing Garrosh statue at Blizzards head quarters. World of Warcraft has been a huge impact in my life. I thank every person who was apart of World of Warcraft and the making of the game. I'm sad to say I have never been to a BlizzCon but someday I will. I am super excited for the Anniversary because Blizzard has done a very good job of creating every part of every game they have ever created. I would say my favorite part of all the World of Warcraft was when I got my Worgen Druid to 90. I was in Towlong Steps when I hit 90. I was on a Skype call with my Dad and Mom and my Brother-in-law we were all playing together, they were all level 90 trying to help me out. The moment I hit 90 I started to jump up and down for joy. I was so happy that day. I am super excited to become level 100, and also the garrison, that sounds like fun. My favorite location of all of Azeroth would have to be Shrine of the Seven Stars because the pure beauty of the creation and design of the building. I am so proud to be a Blizzard costumer. I Thank you all from the bottom of my Heart, you guys rock. Maybe one day I will meet some of the animators from Blizzard. To all the World of Warcraft fans out there. No matter if you are Horde or Alliance, Azeroth is our home, everyone inside of Azeroth is just like you. We are all one. Long live Azeroth, Long live the Alliance, and Long live the Horde. May your Journey the Azeroth be a good one. Kick some butt and take some names, hahaha if you know what I mean. We are one great family who have different sides of views but even after the fights of the Alliance and Horde no matter what side you are on, you can keep in mind, that even thought you fight for your side, you can know one thing. The person on the other side of the faction will always be your friend. We member of the Blizzard worlds will stick together. LONG LIVE BLIZZARD! Thank You, Christian Zito(Aka DiyuWolf)
I've played WoW for about 6 months now and I feel almost everything that's been described in this film. It also makes me want to work for Blizzard so very much.
Outside of the people just trolling to start fights because their lives are meaningless, I'm actually enjoying youtube comments for once. Nice to see all the love and all the people realizing they nag these guys too much. Great vid.
Most of the haters probably can't be arsed to go through a 1 hr video just to spew their hate :) I thought it was a great video - and it's always awesome to see how passionate these people are about the game, and it's easy to tell they really do their very best. Things break sometimes, but they work so hard to fix it when it happens. And a lot of players just spew out hate at the tiniest little problem. It's really not necessary :(
***** Well, Blizzard has almost flat out said they stopped working on WoD as soon as it launched, but what if they do the same for Legion? I really hope they do the big names in the next expansion justice, not the way they kind of ruined the Warlords.
TenecoGaming I belive this is their last chance to redeem themselves. If they don't deliver with Legion the subs are probably going to sink below 3 million.
I watch a lot of streamers and it seems easy to criticize and nit pick the decisions that Blizz make, but watching this really brings home just how much passion and love goes into this game, just how much they want to make it work not just for profit, but to have a good old geek out. Writing this we're coming towards the end of legion and i just want to say to Blizz thank you and keep 'em coming.
Thanks for giving me a chance to be apart of this, guys! I really enjoyed working with you, and teared up/fangirled when I found out I was apart of this. I love this community, and I do not just love the franchise of WoW - but the Blizzard community as a whole. You guys are amazing, and I don't know where I'd be without you. Thank you thank you thank you!!! ps: Nyancorns definitely need to be a thing... just do it. It's fine. haters gonna h8.
For what it's worth, Shadowlands just released and Ion hazikostas seems to be keeping to his word from a couple years ago that Shadowlands is going to attempt to be more player-friendly. So far Shadowlands has been received incredibly well, almost dubiously well as people fear that these things never last and that next expansion may revert us to the dark ages once again. However, if things keep going the way they're going now, things are really looking up.
A little bit of everything except gross Gnomes (they're growing on me though) and Goblins (Horde equivalent of Gnomes, only not as bad) since 14 has arrived.
Everquest was my first ever MMO. Played from 2000-2013. That game will always have a very special place in my heart. So glad that WoW picked up where it left off, in a way, and has grabbed a different piece of my heart that I still get to play to this day. Sadly my EQ days are over, but hopefully my WoW ones are far from it.
To be fair, if you compare vanilla raids and the raids of today their isn't nearly enough art work and complexity compared to what we have now. Molten Core was basically one large cave that branched off. The more complex the raids become, the more time it will take.
Standing around in a circle was hard? The only raid that was hard because of difficulty rather then bugs was Naxx. Once they fixed the bugs from AQ40 raiders were clearing it in a single run. MC is referred to as Molten bore for a reason, and BWL had maybe two encounters that were 'difficult'. Raids today, once you're past lfr, are far more complex and require a lot more coordination.
Because people were noobs. ppl didnt know wtf they were doing for the first long period of WoW. Hardcore raiders who knew what they we're doing, atleast to some extend was facesmashing MC
Boss encounters themselves were much much easier with maybe a couple exceptions, but the difficulty came from managing more people, needing more pre-raid requirements (Consumables, resistance gear, etc.), mediocre to worthless specs, and the general amount of (longer) time it took to finish things in general.
1stKimozabi well at least Legion is turning out great (And to the people who say it's boring I've never been out of content since the new year...that's about 6 months of doing stuff)
Ofc you will never be out of content, they've designed it like this. A little portions of repetitive tasks day after day, week after week. No sweet spots of satisfaction, no places to get any significant advantage from all your hard work. And in a few months all you've got become ashes, and you have to start all over again.
No satisfaction? When you completed Pathfinder and got the ability to explore the world from above that atleast was satisfying for me, the mage tower was satisfying to complete, Breaking a new M+ record or beating a boss on mythic for the first time, thats satisfying for me atleast!
This is beautiful. Doesn't matter your faction or race, who you are in real life, or how you play the game, we're all a big family sharing the same space.
I've been playing wow for a while but I kept quitting and rejoining over and over, like many people have said in the video, wow is a second home to me and I'm happy I have this game in my life :')
Chris Metzen is such a genuine guy, I love him. His character is amazing, he's a manly man, but not afraid to shed a tear. He's got style, he's passionate, and you can just tell that he cares. Gahh!! I just wanna bro out with him for an afternoon... >
Chris Metzen - The only reason I keep loyal to blizzard/WoW. He keeps trying to keep it alive. And we have the same view on it. I just wish everyone else in WoW development had the same vision.
Matthew North Incorrect, Chris and others have butted heads on things. They do disagree. And there have been things Chris has not approved of that they did, Chris isn't the almighty president of WoW. He stands on several fronts. He's a designer just like others. Christ didn't like where they took some of the game, and is the primary pushing force for resetting WoW back to WOD where WoW gained most of its success. He wants to build on it from there. WoW has lost 1/2 its people. And lore has went south on alot of things which were incredible. If you were to stick Mike Morhaime where Chris Metzen, WoW would of died long ago.
Otakahunt You guys! Stop it! WoW dev team includes it's consumers, you can actually ask for stuff to be added in game, if 500k people wants the same thing, they will get it eventually. Look at EA for example, those guys would take money from you even if play with a dog. And you dont even want to play with a dog, you asked for a cat!!! Get my point? I think Blizzard is maybe the last stand for us gamers, these guys made wonders, for me at least.
Lokim23 Yeeeah none of that is true from a story standpoint.. Going back in WoD is to show all the new to Warcraft WoW players its history but in contrast. Chris literally pitched each expansions story first as they do it as a group which they have said often just before the release of a current upcoming xpac.
I've been of wow for nearly 4years now... and i honestly can say... I STILL think about it.. all the team raids of MOLTEN CORE and many great dungeons .. and battle against mates who have the same class to make the top 40 for GUILD RAIDS... most memorable moment.. was being lead by a 12year old... GUILD Leader ... who yelled at us older peeps... and us older peeps, especially us military soldiers who play wow on our spare time, taking orders from a 12year old kid.... hearing his voice yell out commands in where we should stand and what we should do etc.... lol and giving us warnings if we didn't make it to a event we might lose our spot in the top 40 man raid lol.... can remember the 12yr old yelling at members to shut up and he is the only one that should be speaking on mic lol ... great memories and great life friendships met.. many of us left, but we still talk about WOW till this day.... THANKS WOW Staff for all you have done... one day i'll reconnect.... but young ones now play.... and watching them.. i tell them about GUILDS and 40man raids ... for the ALLIANCE .... WARRIOR - PRINCEKEFE - Draenor - IDWTJYG
18:03 Such a horrible brush off for the indomitable and ruthless forsaken. When I made my account in vanilla and it was time to select a character I knew I wanted to be a warrior. But I didn't want to be a towering tauren or the mack truck that was orc and trolls were too elongated. In Forsaken I saw a warrior that stood smaller, bones showing and hunched over but in his eyes an eerie glow that promised death at the edge of his blade. As I played the game I learned of how we were exiles, so like our scourge brethren but given the freedom of will to forge our place in the world. When I witnessed the undercity I fell in love with this game and this race and there was no prouder moment to ride upon a red skeletal warhorse at 60 for the first time and take my place as a Deathguard in the service of the Forsaken.
I play alliance mostly but I will agree with you. The undead have to be my favorite race in the game. The story and the feeling of pride is one of the best experiences I've had in the game. love it. Then again its WoW so whats not to love :D
Didn't start playing till then end of Wotlk and immediately from my background in mlg from Halo 3 I went to the arena side of the game. Eventually by the end of Mop when I started taking arenas seriously I got 2.2k in 3s, 2.1k in 2s, and 2.1k in 5s. Along with 2200+ in rbgs. I even started an online business and was making 14/15$ a hour just watching netflix and playing arenas haha (which I know is against the rules but eh they created the market for it). Such a great ride thus far really broke me out of my shell when I went from being quiet and a little reserved to co leading 2200+ rbg teams in skype. There is of course the summers of non stop playing with my buddies from school talking about what our 3s team name would be or going over strategy while swimming in my pool. Those were definitely the days I remember the most! I ended up having my sleep schedule turn into waking up at 7-9pm and going to sleep at 10am-12pm in the afternoon which was a great experience because I met an Australian guy who was just a blast to play/Skype with we eventually became pretty much best friends just across the pond from each other. There was also my first time hitting 2000 rating in 3v3 with some other Aussies who really gave me the confidence that I could actually play at a higher level than just the 1700s and that type of confidence they allowed me to realize is part of what this movie stands for.. The game broke borders and allowed me the opportunity to grow as a person without leaving my chair now explain that to my parents haha.
HennibsDP Activision do not get involved at all with Blizzard, we already know that and why would they since they get pure profit from them.. Disney are the same with Marvel and Lucasfilm.
+HennibsDP Activision never took over, ActivisionBlizzard was formed then, a company that holds two very separate branches that are not the same at all, Activision and Blizzard.
6 years of my life I played wow. I started playing in 2005 and ended my time in wow shortly after that disaster of an expansion Cataclysm. Literally everything I loved about wow was changed or taken out. I'll never forget the first time I did Molten Core, I was on my Resto Tauren Druid on Sargeras server in the guild Arch Coven. I was actually the only Druid in that entire 40 man run and 4 pieces of Cenarion tier 1 dropped! Happy days man.
Absolutely a fantastic game, from 2004/2005 till today 2021, best game out there. I hope i can play this game for many many years to come. Thanks for all the creators.
+Jort - - I missed sooo much on the 1st go around (tried watching via my phone) - - I'm sending this from my Cell phone to my T.V. Round 2 is queuing up now & then GAME ON!
Out of all of this video I got so psyched when they mentioned EverQuest. Also, seeing the guys in their beginning stages of life as well as how World of Warcraft developed from the gritty strategy game from the 1990's. Seeing Bahjeera in this also rocked as I am a Warrior fanatic myself. Cool video!
I'm pretty sure they asked these people if they wanted to be shown in this documentary and what name they wanted to have in the credits. They don't want unnecessary attention in the future.
I wouldn't care if it was me tbh. They made him an ingame NPC called "Wildhammer Fact Checker" beside Falstad Wildhammer in Ironforge. To me, that would be much more of an accomplishment instead of simply getting your name mentioned.
+Sean Gannon thats normal, games usually effect people when they get addicted whether it's getting thinner or fatter. However it's not as often happening as much as people suggest it does, usually people fit them into their life. You end up sacrificing a lot of sleep to fit games in ):
Started playing 4-5 months ago hit lvl 70 got bored stopped and then i met a guy who introduced me to the lore, i already knew about nobbel but i thought it was boring but when i started understanding it, it got more fun to play wow now i just got my character in 100
I´ve played WoW since vanilla and always when I see a new expansion, raids or other huge changes coming for the game I really want to start again. Played from vanilla till TBC and then started again at the end of Cata and played for a month or 2 after hitting 90 in MoP. I think many of other former WoW fans feel like the game has been dumbed-down beyond enjoyable. This takes away most if not all the feeling of accomplishment or satisfaction you got in vanilla and TBC. Most of the challenge of the game has been stripped away, the massive beautiful living world has lost its meaning, the community feeling and playing together is loosing its meaning as most things can be done alone and after researching the garrisons I have no desire to even try Draenor as they are exact opposite of why I ever played and loved the game. Its a shame that a game with such a strong basis in lore, solid gameplay, massive fantastic world with a lot of variety, sucks all the fun out of itself by throwing everything it has to offer at the player as soon as it can and leaving the player feeling like "well that was pretty cool, wonder what I should play next". I hope that they will make another warcraft game as I have grown to love the lore even though WoW has gone down hill in my opinion.
I played WoW from classic until the end of BC. It left such a mark on my life that to this day I still watch videos of people streaming, raiding, and ninja videos almost daily. I won't attribute all my success to WoW but will attribute some as I became addicted to the game and started to learn about limits and who I was during that time. It was a great game and plan to make a glorious return when they re-release BC.
Despite what you might be thinking, this world isn't dead and it feels more vibrant than ever. I quit for about a year and a half, and after about a year I thought that maybe the game was dying down or becoming less popular. Once I hopped back in and surrounded myself with Azeroth, I realized how terribly wrong I was.
Nymphaea Austin Shook TheCoreLPs Thanks guys. Seeing responses from fellow Warcraft players has reassured me that the community of Azeroth will always be a second home to me. Too many memories to throw away. When the times comes, I am looking forward to making more precious memories. I just need a new computer, mine is a little outdated lol. For the Alliance!
Mark TheHooksman I would check WoW's site for the PC specs required to run the game. You would be surprised how many players who's computers are also crap can play it pretty well. Just thought I'd mention it. I understand wanting to play the game with a smoother experience as well =]
I do find myself often complaining about the game as such, because it feels like the casualness made the game lose a lot of its spirit. But what i tend to forget about is what beautiful times ive had in this game. And no matter how many times i'll ragequit, this game is like home. And i'll always come back home. See you in Legion.
There's dozens of them per server. If one fails, it doesn't actually interrupt the server. That's why he could just casually remove it, and put it back later, it'll just get back up and start working again. The magic of redundancy :)
No they have mirrored servers - 2-3 running exactly the same content so if one fails or is pulled out, there is no data loss and the game continues seamlessly
I know this is old, but it is absolutely amazing to see the developer behind the scenes, to see their joy and excitement. I've been playing since Vanilla, and I won't lie in that I am a bit of a cynic at times but seeing their genuine excitement for things I may have disliked is a kind reminder that everything that goes into WoW is a product of developer passion. I hope, however unlikely, that before WoW ends I can go to Blizzcon to just view that passion in person. This video stirred up a lot of memories, and a few tears. Thank you for this.
I may never play world of Warcraft again as i'm not that rich to keep paying for it. But it was the first MMO i played and it's probably the reason i still play any kind of game at all to this day, Show how far a vision can be taken if there's enough passion in a group of people to make it so. thank you Blizzard for opening the gates to a world beyond gaming and even if i never set foot on azeroth again, NO FREAKING UNICORNS! put a three head hippo in there instead.....=)
chris metzen is such an carismatic guy. A huge lost for blizzard entertaiment! thanks for everything chris! you will be always the green jesus of the hearts
I'm glad I was there for the early glory days. I played vanilla, tbc and wrath in my opinion the best expansions. Maybe itw as because then it felt new and fresh.
+Elvathar I started playing in January of 2006, and the game has changed sooo much; it is different now, but I still love it :) It's some of my leisure time, along with the Half-Life series.
From latinamerica, It was hard to play the game because we didn't have good internet connection and they weren't selling the game on the release here. We managed to play on private servers but they were always deleting all our characters, closing the realm and we had to start looking for a better one. I won't lie, I've played more than 50 private servers, my first was Whiterock, hosted by owner2552. After some years of playing wowscape, burningwow, aniwow, etc, I've meet a guy in the school who was playing the "retail". I didn't belive him that because the game was so dang expensive in my country, and required a sub... I was like "no bro, you'r just messing up with me" but he was serious. He invited me to play it, we started leveling together with RaF, and we managed to get into 70 in less than a month. The feeling was different, the retail was more "city" than the servers I've played before. The people had respect for those who had shoulders from PvP, or cool titles, not for the love of loving the other guy that are playing with you.. WotLK came, and MEH!! I went back to feel that epicness of a new content, a new expansion, different stuff to do, WINTERGRASP OMG... It was incredible, my enthusiasm for the game reborned once again. I still play on retail, I'm waiting for WoD, I have big hopes on this new expansion. MoP wasn't bad but I feel like Pandas and Warcraft are different stories, not the one we used to play in our history of the game. Thanks you Blizzard for giving me World of Warcraft, I think that my life would be better without it but I can't ever say it wasn't part of my life. I have to deal with it. Thanks you for reading my comment, sorry for my bad english ! Saludos desde Argentina !
And I have to say that I owe my English to World of Warcraft! I'm not joking, I learned It playing the game, talking with ppl in chat, and Raiding with end game Raiding Guilds (ICC mostly) !!
After playing since Vanilla I have been on the fence with the heart of WOW but NOW I WAS AMAZED at how much HARD work and Time I couldnt even imagine and the brilliance from the whole staff is why your number one and allways will be, thank-you for making Reality a past and the Imagination of were we all can go. Bless you all may you run for ever~ FOR ALL FACTIONS as Im still playing Both ~Long may you Reign~
Imagine if he just casually dropped the Tichondrius server blade! "So this blade is the Tichondrius server; a more popular server-whoops! Aaaand it's smashed."
Oh how I remember these days... A simpler time.. I don't think it's the content that everybody misses about Vanilla, but the community and the feel of the game back then. The world was alive and vibrant with people out leveling there characters and professions. Guilds were families, and you had a hardcore allegiance to your faction. You also only knew your server. For example, I would see the same Horde guys that were leveling the same rate and zones as me from Stanglethorn Vale all the way through being level 60. I developed feuds with many of them over the 30's 40's 50's and at level 60 as well. Also my guild back then (which was the top Alliance guild on the server) had a feud with a Horde guild (which was top Horde guild of the server) and about every Friday night one of there guild would gank one of our guild and then a few of ours would show up then a few more of there's and so on until a massive guild war broke out in some random "noob" zone as we called it back then. World PvP isn't even really around today. And I was on Illidan too which was the top server back then and probably is the most infamous WoW server out there. The main thing, however, is simply the fact that the game is 12 years old now. Everything was new and fresh back then, so of course every single little thing was epic and questing new zones was fun even though it was always the same thing with new monsters (kill 10 of these, collect 10 of those, kill this boss). Does that mean the game still isn't fun? No! It just isn't that same epic game it once was.
Thanks to all the hard working Blizzard staff, past and present. I had never seen this documentary, but sure glad I finally have. Some might not want to read all the rest of this, since it's just really about what Warcraft means to me personally, as one player of many. Even after all these years, the Warcraft world IS STILL the only gaming experience to have forever become part of my being. When you consider your characters as a real extension of yourself, or how you would be just devastated to actually lose them for any reason, you know you've created something very special on so many levels for us as players. After 13ys of playing on and off, I still find myself needing to come back to Azeroth, and see how the world has changed and progressed, to see old friends and make new ones. There's just no other storyline or game that could hold someone's attention and devotion for this length of time, even more so than Everquest ever could for me frankly. I'll continue paying my subscription as I have, forever if possible, even when on hiatus cause it's just a given for me. There's Earth and then there's Azeroth, which world would you truly prefer to live in? If you said Azeroth, then you are one who understands what this is all about. Thank you Blizzard, for everything good and bad, the whole package.
27:00 "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened."
Yes, that idea is great! I don't even know how are all those personal garrisons going to fit in two territories since they are all in game world on the map as Blizzard says.. Frostfire something and Shadowmoon I think.
I started WoW at late Cataclsym and I am really sad that I miss previous expansions, raid moments, first looks. Whenever I run into first time a zone or entrance , the art gets me all the time. Its like I am looking a great picture that everybody should experience. I hope they never lost that passion.
@@Gubers I think they have failovers and backups all around the world, if one fails you don't even notice it bcs the traffic is internally load balanced to a backup one..
Wow guys! What an impact this game has had around the globe. I'm also astounded seeing just how important and meaningful this game is for many different folks, for many different reasons. It's had its ups and downs, but nobody can take away the the relationships and communities that have been forged through the anvil that is World of Warcraft. Bravo guys, see you all in the Shadowlands!
I played WoW for 7 years and I don´t regret it one bit - it helped me tremendously in ways that you
can´t conceive because your understanding of the world is so terribly limited it hurts...
Jk now I'm crying too
I feel you!

Still remember falling off the TB Bridge in Vanilla for the first time.. Ya that was interesting.
It was such an honor to be a part of this wonderful documentary of an incredible game and company that has done so much for it's community. Looking forward to all the amazing years to come!
Im glad to see that everyone is feeling the same passion for the game as i do
That’s crazy how Dragonflight just released and now we can actually go into the Dragon Isles
Respect.
interesting now look at you still talking to us here and now
stay strong man, it is a good thing not to end up on that path.. make sure you just follow your own.. I had to leave some of my friends in order to have the kind of life I wanted. I don't like peer pressure and I will never succumb to it.
wow is like family, it's always there to cheer you up :)
Man you i see you in like every WoW video comment section
Wow man, that WoW have such a big influence on peoples lives ... I mean even Kil'jaeden got saved from the ghetto thanks to WoW.
all my old friends turned into retarded potheads while I was busy playing WoW so I can almost relate
Have a good one,

Very beautiful story! Same feeling I had when I went for the first time in Darnassus..
Agreed! I might not like every blizzard game but every one I have played it is just oozing with love and passion. I hope they can keep it up forever.
I wanted to learn how to heal in wrath of the lich king. I met a holy paladin that took the time to teach me. That holy paladin is my husband now. We have known each other close to 10 years and been married for 1 year. WoW allowed me to meet the love of my life and my best friend.
This is so wholesom
that will never happen to retail wow because game is anti social, where in other hand we in classic wow are small community but everyone is happy with game, retail ppl play game and dislike it most of the time
I'm surprised he hasn't bubbled & ran off. :)

Only thing you need to know with holy paladin is cast holy light on tank. PERIOD

Nobody missed out. The game is out there and will be for at least another ten years. And a new expansion is just about to launch!
Lightninghoge It's just not the same as it was before. Today everything is online and massive but when WoW was released it was still dial up connections and it was about single player. Experiencing so many players back then was jaw dropping! People did in fact really miss a lot. :v
sermerlin1 Wow has been multiplayer for the entire time it's been around... >.>
Difius man read again what i wrote but not overlooking but deep reading since you didn't understand what i was writting...

This! Had a lot of these moments lately into Shadowlands. No game besides WoW has this. It's amazing!
I cried. I cried a lot. I cried more than O thought that I would. It was just really affecting.
This is amazing. Really reminds me why I love World of Warcraft. :)

AbilityPowered WoW is the best thing to happen to me. Cant describe how glad i am to discover the game in late 2006. I'll never forget those memories, ever.
oh my god the Murloc noise as a bleep noise effect...I love it!.
I think the biggest thing about whats wrong with WoD at the moment aren't these little things everyone has been complaining about on the forums, its at 40:40 where I realised what it is:
Warlords of Draenor feels off, not personal (on alot of levels: storyline, music, overal setting, and then the little things from the forum posts like garrissons, etc..)
And when I think back like these people at 40:40 about the memorable times I had I can name alot of em, but none of em happened in WoD.
So I think more than anything WoW just needs to become this social, hard but rewarding world that projects that atmosphere.
It needs to be "home" again
Sorry for this philosophical little rant but thats how I feel, and if other people feel the same, I hope this little thought will reach one of the Devs will read this and take something from it.
+MarryJewana I totally agree on this. I have thought of it myself, but I couldn't find a word to describe it. I hope Legion will be diffrent. More personal and memorable than WoD
+ThePetardaProduction Thats why I'm not a fan of garrissons
+MarryJewana the best part was when chris metzen was reminiscing about his "cool" idea of breaking the world for cataclysm.
and his design team was like "uh, dude... like what?" with the topper quote being "the game is doing really good and you want to break it?"
+MarryJewana
Garrissons are the worst thing ever to hit WoW.
+MarryJewana i agreee the thing that is missing is the social part of the game and none of that happens as of late it was all in BC and WotLK
Metzen's departure from Blizzard was devastating in retrospect.
Killed the entire storytelling aspect of the game.

Thank You,
Christian Zito(Aka DiyuWolf)
This video does confirm one thing, that the two factions in WoW are the Alliance and the Blood Elves.
*Female Blood Elves.
do you mean the horde and the humans?
25:54
tachikoma747 warcraft 4 will really be WarCraft: Blood Elves and Humans
You NEVER forget the very first time you ride the Deeprun Tram... Epic
Seeing people truly love their jobs just makes me die on the inside wishing I could have those feelings.
You can James
Metzen was the soul for Warcraft and also created it's soul. Glad that he's back.
Indeed.
It's really not necessary :(
All devs should watch this documentary, to realize what WoW should be about..
TenecoGaming They....did. They were IN it. The devs know better than you what it's all about.
christian almli There was no love put into any content from WoD aside from leveling and raids.
TenecoGaming Apparently WoD was just a filler for the next expansion.
Coming each time here to cry, to remember good days when it was Blizzard and not Activision-Blizzard
Yea, there's a lot of b.s. here
I watch a lot of streamers and it seems easy to criticize and nit pick the decisions that Blizz make, but watching this really brings home just how much passion and love goes into this game, just how much they want to make it work not just for profit, but to have a good old geek out.
That part made me laugh so hard xD
Haley H Hehehehehe glad you liked it :3
Moonglade would be the ideal place for Unicorns or Nyancorns me thinks :)
$10 says that they'll announce unicorns/nyancorns in April...
If they did, I would actually be so flattered...
I miss Metzen...dude actually cared now it's just going south...
"I've played human Paladin's since I was 12, no reason to change now."
Night Elf Hunters since 12 checking in.
what a freakin liar.. he's a horde orc shaman. no doubt about it
A little bit of everything except gross Gnomes (they're growing on me though) and Goblins (Horde equivalent of Gnomes, only not as bad) since 14 has arrived.
Tauren Druid since 14. Hi there.
Gnome mage since 11
Everquest was my first ever MMO. Played from 2000-2013. That game will always have a very special place in my heart. So glad that WoW picked up where it left off, in a way, and has grabbed a different piece of my heart that I still get to play to this day. Sadly my EQ days are over, but hopefully my WoW ones are far from it.
My favourite thing about world of warcraft is world of warcraft
Burning Crusade has to be the best memory of my life... Waiting for Kara raids.... ah, good times.
They made Molten Core in one week. That explains a lot.
To be fair, if you compare vanilla raids and the raids of today their isn't nearly enough art work and complexity compared to what we have now. Molten Core was basically one large cave that branched off. The more complex the raids become, the more time it will take.
+Karvak but the raids were harder then?
Soo many people cheering for WoD. How little we all knew then.
I loved WoD, probably because I never raided. I thought the pvp and new zones were great
@@jackorion7157 WoD raiding wasn't that bad, it was just that everything worth doing in the world revolved around the garrison.
This is beautiful. Doesn't matter your faction or race, who you are in real life, or how you play the game, we're all a big family sharing the same space.
loved this a lot.
anyone from techondrias go like "WoW careful with that man! I live there!" when he took out the server blade?
I'm not from that server, but I was like "Aaaaaand server just died" xD Hopefully he did that during maintenance hehe
Yeah I have had a couple alts on Tich, I was really wanting them to do my server that is pretty much just as big and reputable as Tich, Kil'Jaeden.
Thank you Blizzard! It's been a wonderful ride, and here's to many more years! Amazing documentary.
27:00 oh, that's why random dc's happend.
***** I imagined the whole server's population spamming "FUU BLIZzz" like little minions as he took it out.
I was thinking the same thing. lol
Bullion Head Were you high too?
+JOKE485 I like your profile picture so much. It's soooooooooo.... EVIL :P
Chris Goldenmouth It's me.. *sniff*.
Ygg
HAH! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Agreed!
Chris Metzen is literally my hero.
J.M. Studios agreed, Chris Metzen is passionate about what he does & community.
Chris Metzen - The only reason I keep loyal to blizzard/WoW. He keeps trying to keep it alive. And we have the same view on it. I just wish everyone else in WoW development had the same vision.
They do otherwise he would not have kept them.
if you had the same view on it, you would also accept the decisions of everyone else in the WoW development team. :P
Haha yes, the hardcore kids yelling in the mic to everyone but still everyone one needed them was awesome
ah the days when Blizzard was still blizzard : /
Blizzard is still Blizzard what do you mean? Shadowlands is one of the best expansions they created
Nice man.
Just tie them up and force them to watche the movie till the end! ;-)
Co-lead 2s in Arena :P
Please, more of these. Could watch these over and over. Thank You!
Love how most of the main designers on wow stop in 2008 according to this xD.
That was the year where Activision took over...
They never, they wanted to work on other projects which is why most of them worked on the other MMO and now Overwatch.
Oh, you mean the moment like WOTLK where they reached the most every subscribed players at 12M?
HennibsDP
Activision do not get involved at all with Blizzard, we already know that and why would they since they get pure profit from them..
18:24 "Justice ain't gonna dispense itself" Sneaky Metzen
I flipped out when I heard that :D:D
mccree
Absolutely a fantastic game, from 2004/2005 till today 2021, best game out there. I hope i can play this game for many many years to come. Thanks for all the creators.
I've watched this 6 times. It has inspired me a lot.
This is my sixth tim too :P
+Jort - - I missed sooo much on the 1st go around (tried watching via my phone) - - I'm sending this from my Cell phone to my T.V. Round 2 is queuing up now & then GAME ON!
+LEO1WOLF great dude !
Inspired you to do what, play more WoW? Cool story bro.
@@billypeterson2399 inspires to become a developer. How about this?
10 years down, lets hope for 10 more!!!!!!!!:)
We will miss you, Chris,
Out of all of this video I got so psyched when they mentioned EverQuest. Also, seeing the guys in their beginning stages of life as well as how World of Warcraft developed from the gritty strategy game from the 1990's. Seeing Bahjeera in this also rocked as I am a Warrior fanatic myself. Cool video!
27:03
you have been disconnected from the server
At that exact second, a world record # of "F-Bombs" & other choice words were heard by the W.o.W. Gods themselves. L.o.L.!
im so excited for WoD and this has increased that excitement to over 9000!
What? 9000!
Rebornxsoldier Wait wait wait. He had the scouter upside-down. It's.. IT'S... 1,006... Rwar. *crushes scouter*
Rebornxsoldier Vegeta what's his power level?
Vegeta: It's OVER 9000!!!!!!!
lol poor "red shirt guy" didn't even get his actual name mentioned XD
I'm pretty sure they asked these people if they wanted to be shown in this documentary and what name they wanted to have in the credits. They don't want unnecessary attention in the future.
He talks in the credits, cut in between nerdy girls screaming for unicorns
foufoufun0 I had like... 10 people find me on Facebook :| I don't know why they put crystal savin instead of Cryssy
oh well
I wouldn't care if it was me tbh. They made him an ingame NPC called "Wildhammer Fact Checker" beside Falstad Wildhammer in Ironforge. To me, that would be much more of an accomplishment instead of simply getting your name mentioned.
Cryssy

I started playing during Wrath, I wish I was old enough in 2004 to experience this huge stamp in gaming culture. The nostalgia is so surreal.
Chris Metzen seems like he has a presence about him like he's the A. Stark of Blizzard.
Started playing wow when i was 7 years old and play today and i will never quit it to play
Zilvis Kacinskas I'm on the same boat :(
started playing 4 months ago. great game and contrary to popular belief I've actually lost weight since then
+Sean Gannon thats normal, games usually effect people when they get addicted whether it's getting thinner or fatter. However it's not as often happening as much as people suggest it does, usually people fit them into their life. You end up sacrificing a lot of sleep to fit games in ):
Started playing 4-5 months ago hit lvl 70 got bored stopped and then i met a guy who introduced me to the lore, i already knew about nobbel but i thought it was boring but when i started understanding it, it got more fun to play wow now i just got my character in 100
dem raid it was the prospect of raiding that got me hooked
I haven't played in a few years, and this video has convinced me that I shouldn't have stopped playing in the first place :(
It isn't too late to give it another go =]
Despite what you might be thinking, this world isn't dead and it feels more vibrant than ever. I quit for about a year and a half, and after about a year I thought that maybe the game was dying down or becoming less popular. Once I hopped back in and surrounded myself with Azeroth, I realized how terribly wrong I was.
Start again dude. Warcraft could always use more awesome people :)
Mark TheHooksman
I would check WoW's site for the PC specs required to run the game.
So at 27:05 when he pulled that out... did he shut the server down? Lol
Most likely theres a backup server that he initiated before pulling it out.
Sanîa
or it was on maintanance day.
There's dozens of them per server. If one fails, it doesn't actually interrupt the server. That's why he could just casually remove it, and put it back later, it'll just get back up and start working again.
The magic of redundancy :)
would have been funny if he said "this is the high pop server tichondrius...aaaand now its disconnected." xD
The amount of money you spend on World of Warcraft subscriptions in an entire year is less than you spend on coffee or snacks in a month.
chris metzen is such an carismatic guy. A huge lost for blizzard entertaiment! thanks for everything chris! you will be always the green jesus of the hearts
28:02 some mad lad is playing WoW in the ocean beside Africa
That's just 0,0 in latitude/longitude coordinates, which usually is the default if someone's coordinates for some reason get lost or messed up.
This game means so much to me. Thank you for everything Blizzard and the community
You think you do, but you don't

Another person who never watched that panel i guess.
BUT YOU DO BABY
I thought the same thing LOL
BAHAHA was thinking that too, just awkwardly turning the camera off after...
"oooo and there goes 700,000 peoples lives.
Yeah I thought about that as well lol.
LMAO I just thought, "Wait... Does that mean he just crashed that whole server by taking that thing out?"
When Blizzard was great. Chris, Mike, Allen. pillars. this is my favorite documentary/film. blizzard was the best then!
It is exactly the epic game it once was :)

In my opinion, they should've made the garrisons as guild head quarters
Totally should make Guild Halls though..that would be sweet.
We just have guild meetings in te slaughtered lam , best place in wow , no garison can tip that xp
Yes, that idea is great! I don't even know how are all those personal garrisons going to fit in two territories since they are all in game world on the map as Blizzard says..
Frostfire something and Shadowmoon I think.
Мошт Храстa pretty sure they're zoned
Wow, that's a great idea!

I started WoW at late Cataclsym and I am really sad that I miss previous expansions, raid moments, first looks. Whenever I run into first time a zone or entrance , the art gets me all the time. Its like I am looking a great picture that everybody should experience. I hope they never lost that passion.
AWESOME Documentary! Thumbs up Blizzard :D
Nice to see you here PILAV :)
