Pianista EXCELENTE ...Beautyful music...Kotaro♪
Brahms I love you
An admirabke performance but still has a ways to go in order to truly mine all the musical possibilities of this complex score. He is still young. One possibility which I like when performing this piece is right at the opening, when the piano answers the hauntingly beautiful horn call, the top note of the piano's LH should be voiced out due tonthe fact that it is in the exact same register that the horn plays in. Most people miss this intriguing fact. Thus, immediately the pianist has the audiences attention. Now the stage is set. What a masterpiece!
Beautiful Andante - full of pathos....
At 27:48 begins the famous cello solo of the 3rd movement that opens that movement, reapears at the recapitulation (returning of the main theme) 35:54 in a higher register and a different key before returning to the warm B flat and closing the movement.
"Immer leiser wird mein Schlummer" as Brahms would have it in the cello solo of the Andante, played so beautifully here by the principal cellist of this great orchestra.
なんて 知的水準の高い曲 いつも感心して耳に傾けています。
Wonderful performance!
Wonderful performance
Who cares what or whom people look like; the music is divine
Bravo!
福間さんすばらしい、演奏でした。言葉もありません。
Same here. When I saw the name on the piano I thought sad, now we will never know how good he could have sounded. Consider these three: Steinway, Bechstein and Bosendorfer.
We are very happy to announce that the 14th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition will be streamed live!
The competition is being held on the 13th of May through the 29th, and this year we are holding an especially joyful celebration: the competition's 40th anniversary!

Brrravo !!
... and don't forget ... FAZIOLI (my favorite)!
I. Allegro non troppo 0:49
II. Allegro appassionato 18:51
III. Andante 27:48
IV. Allegretto grazioso 39:34
The guy to the right of Kotaro at 10:55 reminds me of Buster from Arrested Development for some reason. And the lady behind him looks like Lucile.
Many Asian pianist are doing extremely well these days !!!
Wow... This is good. Really good. Surprised he didn't get a higher prize.. Anyway, it's a competition...
What prize did get for this performance ?? I am very much looking forward for new competition in May !!!
I think he is doing his best , good perfomance, enthusiastic expression , need better piano for his talent .
oh God....
Kotaro plays with a lot of soul, but the orchestra seems a bit too fast at times. This one's better a little slower
Also, the choice of piano was probably not the best for this work -- the upper register sounds very tinny, and the bass lacking in power. But maybe live it sounded better, who knows?
Kol ha kavod! I liked this performance overall, but the last two movements are not as successful as the first two -- everything is much too straight, especially the 4th mvt. which needs to be more laid back and playful. Many spots are very difficult to play, but what is really hard is never to just "play the notes". The orchestra sounds magnificent, and Asher Fisch is a great conductor. The video lags more and more behind as time goes along and is pretty badly out of sync by the 3rd mvt.
Dommage.
He hasn't 'tamed' the piano completely. The instrument still sounds a little too 'big' for him. Compare for example Richter with Leinsdorf th-cam.com/video/xVvPF_bYc6A/w-d-xo.html There you have absolute mastery of the instrument (and the music of course). A good start by Mr Kotaro but still way to go.
Wonderful performance!
