There’s this restaurant that only a few locals know. It’s called HA & VL Vietnamese Noodle Soup. It’s tucked away in a corner that no one would ever notice. It’s near the bun bo hue restaurant. They have 2 different soups each day they’re open. Saturday has my favorite soups. It’s super delicious!
It's a James beard award winner, there's also the sister restaurant Rose VL. Highly recommend a Sunday trip for their tumeric noodles early before the hipsters wake up

Next time you are in Portland, OR you need to try Tang Dynasty. It has amazing soup dumplings! Only two flavors but they are delicious and packed with soup. They also have a lot of other really tasty dishes. Their cashew chicken is really something special!

As a Chinese American that is hardcore about my family's traditional dishes, I would say bun bo hue is my favorite Vietnamese noodle; so much so that I learned how to make it myself. As he said, it is so much richer, and more flavorful than typical pho. I doubt many non Vietnamese Asians know about as it is quite hard to find "done right" (pork blood, pig feet, pork roll/Viet "meatball") in restaurants much less non Asians who just started discovering pho.
I, as an adult, ate soap. I purchased something at a local store that is no longer in business here in Eastern Oregon, and the lady threw in this jelly looking thing which I thought was a gummy sample, turns out to be a soap sample. Fortunately I was at home so I had to rinse my mouth out in the sink.

Don't worry, it isn't just you. I am on an immunosuppressant and we haven't even ordered take out since March 13th or so. Everyday, three meals a day... I'm cooking. I'm becoming a better cook though and bought myself stainless steel pots and pans as a quarantine gift. Lol
My parents would send me to Portland for the summer to visit my great Aunt. Over 49 years ago, went to various toy stores to find a skate board because they had just become popular; skate boards were illegal in Portland at that time. Got a suede leather jacket with all kinds of frill 60's stuff off everywhere where instead. All of my 7 kids have enjoyed play acting in it over the years. Seeing the draw bridges reminded me.
My grand kids just showed up and I was trying the jacket on them. My great aunt wrote my name and 1969 on the inside lining. The most well used leather jacket ever, 3 generations so far.

My friend took me to Pip's when I went to visit her in Oregon and that place definitely doesn't disappoint! I was in line to get donuts with my friend and some lady gave us a voucher for a free dozen donuts! I recommend to my coworkers to go to Pip's for donuts (and they weren't disappointed either!). Definitely would go back to that place for donuts!
