Thanks for the lesson, Paul. Watched this and started practising on my big sister straight away.
I must have done it wrong because it wasn't over in three seconds, I know I got the headbutt part right 'cos of her teeth marks in my skull, but when I tried to finish her off with the nut-punch she didn't go down ,and her boyfriend got really angry and beat me up.
I am thinking of pepper spraying them both first before I practice this again.
Anyway, please keep the lessons coming.

I once found myself in a fight with a guy that was about 4 inches taller than me, and outweighed me by about 50 lbs. He pushed, then I pushed, and the next thing I knew, our arms were locked. I couldn’t swing a fist and neither could he. This was about 20 years ago, and to this day I remember in that moment thinking, “this is a long shot, but what the hell, let’s try it…” I went for the head butt and, to my surprise (and probably the other guy’s, too) it worked! It landed perfectly in his face and stunned him so hard that he froze up for a few seconds. I was so impressed with how well it worked, I figured since he was stunned, let me give him another one. The second worked just as well as the first, so I got greedy and went for one more. Unfortunately, he widened up and kept his head back, so I couldn’t connect. Unfortunately for me, he was now extra pissed that I landed two good shots on him, so he used his weight advantage against me and lurched forward. Since our arms were still locked, I fell backward with him on top of me. Pinned down, and with his friends taking cheap shots at me on my head, the fight was broken up by the guy’s twin brother. The guy I was fighting stormed off to the bathroom of the bar we were at and came back out a few minutes later with a big, bleeding gash under his left eye. who knew a head butt could break skin?! Angry, he said “I’m bleeding and he’s not, and that pisses me off!” To which his twin brother shouted, “shit the fuck up you baby! Get in the car, we’re leaving.” So, yeah, head butting is legit.
Side note: years later, I was working as a bartender at a spot not too far from where this fight took place, and the two twin brothers came in and were both totally cool. I even brought up the fact that we knew each other because we once got into a fight, and he apologized for being an ass. Water under the bridge.

he got pushy i grabbed him by the shirt head butted his nose and mouth in , gave him cross elbows to his cheek game over.
worse thing was i had teeth marks in my forhead and i had to get a tetnas shot.

I was once in a similar situation. A guy significantly higher than me stepped on my GF's foot. She said, "Watch out!". That got him mad so I stepped in and he wanted to fight. He wanted to drag me out of the bar to fight outside, but I did not want to leave my GF alone. I knew I could not punch him, as he was taller and was holding both of my arms. After a quick assessment, I decided to land a knee in his solar plexus. I grabbed his hands as he was holding me, jerked him towards me, and launched myself in the air knee forward. Hit his solar perfectly. He was out of business for over a minute... Unfortunately at that time, local security noticed the brawl and they thought I was the aggressor, as the other guy was basically breathless, trying not to collapse. I got punched a couple of times by the security while having my hands up and backing off, but those were pussy punches, the guard was big but did not have any skill. Then they realized I was not the aggressor and apologized.

Paul Vunak's stuff, even his old tapes from the late 80s, are the only stuff you will ever need for "regular" street self defense. Not talking MMA or pro fighters coming at you with a light saber. Voo's original streetfighting series plus this one, Street Safe, cover everything you need in great detail. You will learn more from one tape in terms of concepts, delivery systems and timing than from endless KravMaga Larping, pretending you are disarming a guy with an AK 47.

I’m all about self defense and more specifically ‘threat elimination’. I’m a huge fan of the upper palm heel strike under the attackers chin. It’s lights out, game changer and done. There’s a follow up move to it with the other hand chopping the side neck but I’ve never needed the 2nd move
Edit: timing seems to be a huge reason why people lose fights. Slow timing and no go-to move.. if you learn anything today learn this - when someone enters your personal space in a threatening manner THAT is the start of their attack. When it gets to your personal space IS when you eliminate the threat.. always hands up, chin down and ready to strike. Hope this helps

My masters, coaches, and these 2 guys are my heroes, and I wish I could tell them how they have empowered me to protect myself, and I would never disrespect them by using what they have taught me by using it inappropriately. I trained with Paul over 20 years ago and just want to state a challenge for the naysayers out there: if you don't believe he is legit, track down his business enemies, of which there are many, and ask them why they won't work with him. The point being is that you will find some other highly-skilled martial artists out there (like Harrinder Singh) who, while they had a significant falling out with Paul, won't say anything negative about his actual skill. You won't find people who discredit his ability even when they've had major schisms with him. Yes, Paul has his issues on the personal side, and everyone who has worked closely with him knows this, but we also know that he was a truly dedicated martial artist and also a really great teacher who could, as the saying goes, put his money where his mouth was at a moment's notice.

In all the fights I've had and seen, never once, never ever once, did I, or any of my mates or opponents use the top of our heads. It's always, and I mean always, the top of your forehead. If your head is down, you can't see your opponent and you're blind to any number of counter blows. Maybe Paul's techniques works well for him, and I'm a huge fan of him and FightFast, but that part of the demonstration I found odd. The knee kick is right on the money and devastating.

I arrived quickly and entered the lobby only to instantly come face to face with the angry suspect. He quickly attacked me and threw punch after punch at me. Being a former Marine and a Boxer I was not afraid of him so I engaged and threw punches back at him, striking him again and again. I even took out my baton and hit him over and over again. But this guy would not go down. I was getting winded but he seemed to be gaining energy and strength as the fight went on. People were screaming at the violence and women were crying at witnessing the nightmare they were seeing unfold. Fearing that he might overpower me and have access to my firearm I summoned up my last bit of energy and kicked at his walker causing him to lose balance and fall over. I jumped on him and cuffed him ending the incident! Toughest fight of my career!!!!

As a self defense instructor the head butt is something I would use in certain unique situations but not a leading weapon.
Better to start with a punch to the face or fingers to the eyes. If your grabbing the back of the head and bringing them down, you can elbow or knee the head.

I do not understand how in a combative situation your opponent, especially a much larger one like he's mentioning, is going to allow you to grab the back of his neck with both hands.

This guy trains our Navy Seals on hand to hand fighting so you know he is one B-A-D dude from that aspect alone. Looking into the intensity of his eyes I got the impression that he might be someone you want to avoid getting on the wrong side of. After viewing video time 2:46, I am wondering if he is not certifiably C-R-A-Z-Y. 😉

@@notpoliticallycorrect He was under contract for the teams at Dam Neck, in Norfolk for a couple of years actually. He had Tom Cruse there with him. Pat Tray and Frank Cucci got certified in JKD under him during that period. What he wasn’t was the creator of any Dept of the Navy official training program for the SEALs. Sayoc Kali and a couple of different BJJ guys do the same thing at Dam Neck now. Just like the Dog Brothers do for the JSOCers at Ft Bragg.

SEALs have trained in many systems and have adopted none officially save for SCARS for a brief time. Training some people that are or were SEALs does not mean they are the official trainer for them. Oldest marketing scam in the book. Its lying without technically lying.

I use to own these vhs tapes. Watched them several times. Never had to use it, but seemed effective. Shared them with my friends (2 brothers) and never got my tapes back. They practiced with each other. One day one of the brother got into a fight. It was effective. Caught his attacker with an elbow to the face as the attacker rushed him to bear hug. The shot left him on the floor bleeding pretty good. Fight ended quick.

looks like a very dangerous man and deadly technique. as someone with an mTBI, i cringe at the after effects this technique could impart on either person. shaking the brain like that, regardless of impact can leave a person with lifelong cognitive deficits. you don't even have to impact your head to get a concussion- a very sudden stop in a car, G forces on rides, planes, etc. can do it. i've trained with guys like this and it becomes quickly appearant just how quickly they can end you. the other thing is you never know who knows what- i've trained with some smaller, completely non-threatening looking guys and gals and they could without doubt hurt the average person real bad- so be nice to people and avoid conflicts as much as possible!

Coworker of mine knocked out a guy with a headbutt. He grabbed the guy by the shoulders and drove his head into this guy's face. Lights out, it was over in one hit.
And yeah this guy was the one spoiling for a fight so my buddy ended it fast.

Proceeds to demonstrate his headbut against a much shorter, and passive opponent. LOL

If you ever saw these videos the fighting methods he taught were simply brutal. The techniques were simple and few. Biting, eye gouging, ear slapping, head butting, groin and knee kicks were the majority of the techniques. It was stuff that you really wouldn't normally use in even a serious street fight unless you were really wanting to mess someone up bad and maybe cause life altering type of injuries. It was shit that you would use if someone was trying to rape you in prison type of violence. The brutal techniques were then employed in combinations. The eye gouge was basically touching your opponent's eyes. It doesn't matter if you do that technique hard or soft, it's going to put them at a great disadvantage and they won't see that right behind that your foot is going to kick their knee or shin like it was a soccer ball. Or head butt ear slap combination. Rupture your opponent's ear drum and they can't stay on their feet. Strike first and strike fast and strike dirty. It wasn't things like sucker punching. It was sucker eye gouging. Sucker ear slapping. When your opponent was in the mouthing stage of the confrontation you simply slap their ear then employ a monkey bite to their testicles. Not many people are going to want to fuck with you upon witnessing that kind of brutality. And those who don't witness it, you could let them experience the sucker eye gouge, knee break, ear removal combo. Trust me. It won't matter if there knee actually breaks after you rip their ear off their head. And realistically you'll probably only rip their ear half off but their knee or shin bone probably will be broken. Feel free to throw in a free monkey bite or finger snap. It wouldn't help you much in an mma fight. But it would let you win in a real fight with an mma fighter because real fights generally escalate to a fight in a predictable sequence. If someone comes out swinging then it's just going to be a fight and you'll have to employ standard eye gouging instead of sucker eye gouging. To the best of my recollection there were no blocking techniques even taught.

The headbutt can be used against any opponent but he was just simply making a point that it can definitely be used against a heavier weight and taller opponent. A type of person where one may not think you may have any chance against getting in a fist fight with. Just think about where the headbutt lines up to a taller person's nose and teeth. If anything, it may be more difficult to do with a much shorter person.

All the movie headbutts use the forehead into the other guys forehead or face.

    • @YangSword9x
      @YangSword9x 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

True because forehead has thicker bone in skull....
---but honestly the top of head is easier to use full body weight without relying on neck muscles like movie fore-headbutt!
      -Force= mass x acceleration
(put whole body into it without relying on muscles to hold form 4 weight transfer to target= gurentee full bodyweight transfer to attack & easier less distance2cover/convenient next to target=gurentee not dodged)

When I trained boxing and mma for a while back when I was younger... I asked my trainer what he thought about headbutts in fighting... He said he didn't think they were a good idea unless it was your only good option, and said that you're basically taking a hit to give a hit and that the risk is too high... He then showed me a clip of a guy attempting a headbutt only to get caught and eye gouged with a thumb, the guy then gouged again with both hands/thumbs and followed it up with a sloppy but effective headkick. The guy attempting the headbutt was KO'd... Trainer just said "that guy knows how to fight".
