    A point of anatomical correction:
    There is only one radial nerve on each upper extremity. They run lateral along the arm when in anatomical position with the palms facing upward lying down or forward standing, which is on the thumb side of the arm. The nerve running along the medial side of each arm is the ulnar nerve.

      I'm thinking he can still cause it pain the way his is using the technique by hitting both sides at the same time.. I guess unless Bruce Lee was mistaken and of course the Navy Seals were trained wrong and all. We probably should tell Paul Vunak that he used the technique wrong when he took out a whole bar at once so those bad guys shouldn't have been taken out cuz he did it wrong.. The proof is in the pudding dear.. the nerve can be damaged by both sides.. These guys aren't idiots, try to learn something from them.. it might save your life..

      Because you were taught American TKD... as a self defense art. If you learned it the RIGHT way, you would know that all those “blocks” you were taught, are really strikes. I learned from Grandmaster Lee (9th degree Dan & current President of the ITF). For example: a low block is really a gallbladder/spleen side hand punch after you allude an opponents strike and move laterally. “High block” = if you are within close contact of an opponent and you crush the opponents chin or neck vital areas.

    Learning any combat tactic in a few hours certainly won’t build muscle memory. Also remember that action is always faster than reaction. Another important concern is being static! If you’re not moving, you’re a much easier target 🎯. As for your “window” target area, I think you left out several other easily accessible target areas like the head, the groin and the legs. I’m starting to think that the best part of the advertisement for the RAT program was the dirt in the face. When the real action begins, plans sometimes fall apart, and that’s why a few hours of RAT training may or may not save you. If you’re tough…really tough, like the honey badger, you stand a much better chance of defeating your enemies.🇺🇸😎🇺🇸

I’ve had martial arts training, but find it’s only really useful in non life or death situations. If I want to just incapacitate or restrain, genuinely useful. If I’m in severe or critical danger however, all that form kind of goes out the window in favor of putting maximum power behind targeted swings & defense.

      As someone who has a lot of training this little technique just got added to the bunch..the guiding fist to elbows requires minimal movement and really just something you could add to a parry.. anything to get the person attacking you closer to that point of "okay this is starting to suck and I made a mistake".. instead of accidentally killing them with a dangerous strike or whatnot.. one hurt finger or whatnot can quickly turn "IM GONNA KILL YOU!" to "omg wait a second.. something's wrong and maybe attacking this person wasn't such a good idea".. but if this doesn't work a few seconds later after back pedaling, make a choice of fight or flight.. in which case anything to make them lose their composure in case you have to fight is worth it

      It seems like so many negative comments are simply a referral to someone else's method of fighting. Then they include something like "sorry, these are just the facts". They don't realize people can see through these types of comments. A statement should stand on its own. When you have to add "these are the facts" to bolster your opinion, it's not a very strong opinion.

After about 3 of these he will be moving pretty slowly or give up. Most people have NO idea how to shimmy-step or shuffle-step and will become incredible demoralized. As someone who survived and fought off an attacker at 19 the best advice I can give women - learn how to take a tackle and how to distribute your body weight. The first instinct is to fight and that's what attackers prepare themselves for. Use your weight as leverage to fall forward or to the side, when they are stunned you fight - groin, eyes, ears, lips - you grab and pull and you pull like you're pulling it off. Use your teeth, not just your hands. If they do overpower and harm you, you want to make sure that you have so much of the attackers DNA on you that forensics has a field day.

      Well of course it does, you don't watch this once and suddenly are jackie chan. You train, and train, and train until it becomes almost instinct and muscle memory. These short courses are rarely ever all that successful though. If someone wants to pick up a modern fighting style, the Israeli Krav Maga is probably the way to go, since they have actual schools/"dojos" (whatever it may be called in Israel) where you have to ascend through belts like a traditional martial art.
      Personally am trained in Aikido and Judo, of which the latter is actually used by militaries across the world, at least in part. infact I just checked, their website he advertises is already defunct. Kinda like I thought, it's just a money sink or a get rich quick scheme for the owner.
      Oh yeah, they have a DVD and everything LMAO. this is an excerpt from a website advertising it... this cracks me up. Just pick the most popular movie martial arts that have been fairly famous in the last decade or so
      "R.A.T. is an offshoot of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do Concepts. Its core is based on the fundamentals of entry, pressure and termination of a fight. Nerve destructions, straight blast, head butts, knees and elbows are the methods emphasized in this fighting system, as are basic trapping techniques from Wing Chun Kung Fu and Filipino Kali."
      I think they watched Ip man and thought wing chun was anything more than just a performance martial arts. There was their popular dismantling of the chinese claim where a guy said he could beat any wing chun master and I believe the CCP actually threatened him afterwards when he won all of his fights.

    It also depends how fast the person that's throwing the punch is. If the person happens to be a boxer, it will be tougher to block if the person receiving the punch isn't adequately trained. I mean, it's good fighting tactics and all but to be a good fighter, you have to do more than just a couple hours because these tactics can work on a normal average thug, but eventually it won't help that much with someone who is trained and can fight pretty well There are no shortcuts to success.

They assume the other person has five concealed knives on them. Do I have to go further?

      @myrarodriguez8578 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mikecudmore4760 That's correct, never underestimate an opponent. Assume everyone is a great fighter is the exact mentality that they teach me and all of us here at Brazilian jiu-jitsu. A fight can only be one with the strategy... and not so much as Force. Like one of our great boxing Legends Muhammad Ali used to say: 10% is physical and muscle power and 90% is strategy. Pretty much strategy is what wins mostly any fight using proper techniques. This being said, and no way I'm trying to dis what the video is trying to convey and portray to everyone because they are good short strategies to defeat almost anyone regardless as to what the experience of the other person could be. However, not everyone is going to go for certain tricks and or some other people are professionally trained which obviously will be considered in the long run dangerous. This is one of the reasons why I say that one needs to know more than one technique and fighting and eventually learn at least two or three. I do BJJ but also I do MMA as well as some boxing. So in essence, I'm trained in three different styles which combined together can be extremely deadly.

    The R.A.T. system should be one set of some tools in your fighting skillset. I trained heavily in it many years ago and found it works very well when integrated with groundfighting. In my experience THAT is where limb destruction works exceptionally well because you have your opponent in a more static position. If you are mounted on someone and they are trying to strike you it becomes very easy to crash your elbow into the top of their hand destroying those smaller bones. It is also useful from the guard, side control, even when you are in a disadvantgeous position it is usually not difficult to strike a nerve or put a limb out of action. The thing to do is to add the R A.T. system to your current skillset and use it when it is advantageous. Even Vunak said something to the effect of "when a 280 lb man is coming in on you, you are not looking for a wrist-lock". Learn the techniques and use them when time, space and opportunity allow.

      @@dabunnyrabbit2620 It is exactly the same if there are two, three, or six opponents...you shouldn't be there at all, so get out of there. BUT, if for some reason you do find yourself there about to have a "bad day" there is an answer for that. You get your "equalizer" out and go to work and then get out of there as quickly as possible. This is a very basic concept in Vunak's teachings.

You raise your arms high as instructed here in order that when they throw a punch their hand hits your elbow and their hand gets hurt, In the demonstration in the video the attackers forefingers of his fist smash into his elbow. @godswatching2863 Im a short very stocky dude. People have always underestimated me in fights my entire life. And im not talking shit. Just telling you facts. I've never lost a one on one fight. Ever. And always with much bigger taller dudes. Again- underestimated. I look like an easy target. They all commit the cardinal sin. throwing a massive haymaker. They swing, I duck-my center of gravity is low. I usually drive my shoulder into their gut and wrap their legs with my arms. Once they were on the ground they were absolutely fucked. Truthfully I'm a stick of 180 lb dynamite. And once they started it I finished it. I dont fight clean. I fight absolutely filthy. I never ever started it. Ever. But I wasn't afraid of it either. I absolutely loved punishing assholes that assumed bc I was smaller in stature that I would go down easy. It always surprised the shit out of them. I've always said their is always someone out their that can whip my ass. But what I've also always said is this..."you might win in the end...but I promise you that you will absolutely 110,000% regret ever going down that road". Bc once I start I don't stop. You better pack a lunch. Again, that sounded like a lot of ego and bravado. The truth is I'd much rather hang out with you and drink a beer with you and bullshit and laugh with you. Just a lesson for bigger dudes out there. Don't underestimate anyone. Especially the ones with low center of gravity. Bc once youre down. Your long legs are a weakness.

    Once (1979) in Kansas City Mo, in the stadium, after a Royal and Pirate game, a guy advancing past my left shoulder pinched my left glute. I know it was him as he was still close beside my left shoulder. I didnt say a word. I followed him to decide the spot of contact where I wanted to return the touch'e. It was perfect. I tap- kicked him with my right foot behind his extended, weight bearing knee. He went down as though he was praise-bowing to the King of Siam. His hands were up in the air above his head. He quickly rebounded up, turned around and yelled "Yooouuu"!!! with his finger and arm pointing at me.
    I yelled " keep your hands to yourself"! He smerked and disappeared into the crowd. Hopefully embarrassed enough to think twice next time he picked a glute-type target.

    this is one of the fist self defense videos i can respect. some good advice for sure but this is only a few minutes. The best thing to know is to be defensive, small rapid movements, cause pain, and get creative.
    maybe learn how to defend against this style too. basically if you see them do something that gives you an opportunity you need to learn to not make that mistake yourself also learn how to bait people into being sloppy would be good too
    also don't discriminate on who you use it against. if you know you are stronger don't be nice and hold back, i say this for 2 reasons 1 you might be wrong lmao they might win if you underestimate them 2 they will make good practice for when a more serious threat approaches
    last the size of your opponent matters, do not think that any 1 technique will do all the work. if you think you need to bulk up then bulk up (short people can win as long as you got some muscle and you play to your advantages)

It help me develop into a decent fighter, never really felt I could be beaten. As I got older I joined the military and used to challenge bigger guys often by telling them we can punch each other and that they would quit before I did. I always won simply because of what he said at the beginning of the video. My entire plan was to take the strength away from a bigger opponent by hitting them in specific spots repeatedly until they could no longer punch or the pain would make them quit. I even had guys tell me that it wouldnt work but it ALWAYS DOES. ALWAYS.

    Rule # 3 : Buy, train, & carry responsibly a pistol & magnify your situational awareness.

    Is the RAT the evolution of the techniques back in the 80s or just a related but different system? In the RAT the destructions are done from the arms held high aka Tai boxing and he says not to guide the punch to the elbows.
    However with the Kali in his older disks his arms are lower when he executes the destruction to a jab and then on to an eye jab or other techniques. Also he did guide the punch to the elbows. Any clarification??😎

      Yes the rat from the 80s and what we've done with it is involved basically keeping it up to date as we train we discover new things and better ways to train. Yes we keep our hands a little lower now because of body mechanics and as far as guiding the punch yes at one time we did that but always remember it takes more time to do two things than one now we don't guide it we just use our body mechanics and movement letting the person run into the elbow I hope this helps you out a lot any other questions don't hesitate to ask me always appreciate comments thank you.

    Defanging a live deadly snake with your bare hands is probably a good analogy, i.e. it would get you killed. Real fights aren't like this. Attackers rain fast multiple punches. To suggest you could select an arm and put out of action by hitting a nerve point or block with your elbow bone would only work in the movies. If you tried it in real life, you'd be driven back to your rapid defeat. When a provider has to make specious claims from the start, that SF teams have adopted it and you just take his word for it, its a give away that this is for the impressionable only.

      Get out there and have someone start throwing Jabs that you then add the cross then add the hook the upper cut then the over head.
      And then put them all together having a box with your combinations at you put yourself against the wall and let the boxer go to it that's how I train I know it works

    this is a fine program it rilly is. i studied this years ago after i got my 1st dan in chinese kenpo. and in a month or 2 ill be taking up seibukan jujutsu. and working towards another black belt in another style. and i figured that i would stick with seibukan jujutsu. untill there is nothing left to teach me. and at that point ill move over to krav maga. and do the same with them when theres no more for me to learn then ill move from that over to shoshin ryu. and when they are done with me and nothing more to teach. at that point ill move from alaska. to somewhere were i can study panantukan. muay thai. and finish it up with white tiger kung fu.

    There might be some limited and spontaneous utility in the first technique that was shown, but don't ever think that you're gonna intentionally strike the "something or another nerve" on your opponents forearm with your knuckle while they're throwing punches. I'm serious...please don't try that. It's not gonna work and you're probably gonna get rocked with the next punch because you dropped your guard to attempt a snake oil technique.
    As a general rule, it's normally a good idea to be skeptical of anyone using scientific medical terms to describe the application of their techniques. It's not always the case, but it's definitely a red flag.
    For the record, I'm not accusing this channel of peddaling fake martial arts. No martial arts discipline is perfect, and I'm not about to judge the entirety of this channel and this discipline based on a 4min video of a couple small techniques. I learned the hard way that some 20-30% of everything I was taught over the span of 17 years in martial arts and 2 black belts to show for it was almost completely useless in a real world situation...but I learned.

      Best training for fighting is to simulate what really happens with some good old sparring. Its no good standing still. The speed of real fighting is something you better be used to when the real thing happens to you!

    • @justinabajian1087
      @justinabajian1087 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why these are all so laughable. They always do them on an opponent who standing still, striking in slow motion and who is doing their very best to strike in such a way that the strike can be countered according to the technique. I need to see two different schools of fighting, both who claim their technique is superior, to spar and see if they even attempt any of the crap they teach. I think we’d discover they’d immediately abandon these techniques because they don’t translate in a chaos theory world.
      I’m guessing the guys in this video would get rocked by an amateur boxer

      Probably because OP cannot fathom defeat. Why? because the stubborn OP has a MASSIVELY inflated ego and cannot refute criticism. This man’s method is lunacy. And he should be called out for it, like imagine people, especially untrained, who want a quick 101 seminar. Imagine their only experience in fighting came from this vid, when an assailant goes to assault them, they attempt to “de fang the snake” because the real life Napoleon Dynamite Karate master charlatan; told them to do so, and they end up in my ER with ruptured spleen, liver laceration, thoracic trauma, 3 transverse/segmental intercostal fractures, basilar skull, fracture, mandibular fracture and life threatening internal hemorrhaging grey turner+cullen sign, mortal acute subdural hematoma; and then the mfker is on life support! This is absurd and this guy is advertising pandora’s box. In the field of Medicine and Nursing; If I were to do something like this, I’de be held accountable. This quack is spreading misinformation, like me saying thalidomide is safe.

    I understand this is just instructional, but...nobody in the real world punches 3ft short so u can destroy, unfortunately all instruction is out of range and all martial arts do same fake actions against punches and kicks...let the guy punch into the face at speed, and c if it actual works every time, u produce training scars...if ur gonna do that ur best showing low kicks in conjunction

    No disrespect, but highly unlikely to be successful in a violent fight.
    Theory is great, in the system I study these are called destructors..
    .problem is, trying to apply this to a Mike Tyson type energy will get one knocked out.
    Moving, simultaneously blocking, evading, and now clinch to takedown if applicable, are better options for me, humbly speaking.
    In a fight, I have never seen this technique be successful.

      Alot of people are not used to charlie horses in a real fight and stay long distance and you can train some free hits on their arms to try to make their arms weaker. Its pretty cheap but it forces ur enemies hand. And alot of non trained fighters throw their hooks WAYYY too wide and you can easily charlie horse them with your elbow as they try to club you with their stupid arm.

    • @daddurch
      @daddurch ปีที่แล้ว

      Think of a boxer covering up when he is slipping and deflecting blows he uses his fourarm
      what we do is use our elbows we are not chasing anybody's hand there punching they will land on your elbow that's why this is illegal in boxing that's why boxers use there forearms

      @@daddurch to use your elbows like that with your arm higher seems like a small adjustment on what boxers already do. Usually if someone delivers a punch and hits your elbow they are going to hurt their hand but is there also any significant chance their first or second knuckle could damage your elbow if that is the part of their hand that makes contact?
