    Hey Marina!!!
    Great content today...and I can personally relate to today's subject.
    To be honest, while there is a high demand for administrators, it's not exactly easy to get into that field. I remember when we first landed, I was actively looking for an Admin or Customer Service role because I believed those were roles I could easily transfer my skills from Nigeria having been in a role that practically covered all of that and more. But I was wrong! Like Marina said, employers are specifically looking out for administrators with the admin education (diploma or degree) and I had none of those! So I ended up in Customer Service.
    And I agree with the need to figure out what you want out of an admin career/education...an admin career is almost always a stepping stone to quick transitioning within a structured organisation if you know what you are doing and doing it diligently.
    Thanks Marina, great content! 👍

      Oh yes, i am glad it worked out in the end. This is the same reason i went back to school, it wasn't easy to transfer just like that.

    Thank you for the information. The inter-relation aspect hits me. I remember years ago when I was an intern in an agency freshly from Nigeria. I had to learn that quickly for me to fit in. In fact I also learnt that you need to know something about your neighbour. For example if someone works into your office and ask for a particular business office in your premises, you must be able to direct such to the right place whereas in Naija, that is not mandatory. Thank you once more for the insight.

    One thing I like is how serious admin roles in Canada are. So one can even specialize wow! I have never considered an admin role before now because of how basic the role is perceived to be here in Nigeria. Thanks for this insightful video. I have a few friends in Canada in admin roles they need to watch this and register for a diploma oh. We must all blow this year😅🙌🏽🙏🏽

    • @MARINAESIRI
      @MARINAESIRI  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the same mentality sis that admin is basic and anyone can stroll in until i saw pepper. Nobody advised me to go back to school and when I took the diploma and saw how intense the training is, I understood why I didn't get the jobs.

    Is Online Admin Asst. training from ICS Canada plus your admin work experience, enough?

    • @MARINAESIRI
      @MARINAESIRI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be. A combination of relevant training and experience will be fine.

    Very Informative Video. Sister, please tell us what course you did in Canada and in which university. Also will they accept students who have long gap, like i completed my previous degree in 2013 and now can i apply for a course in canada?

    • @MARINAESIRI
      @MARINAESIRI  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I took the admin diploma I talked about. For post secondary education, gaps do not affect your admission. I have people who were 50 years old in my class who have taken up to 20 to 30 year breaks and they could come back at that age so the gap wont be an issue.
