Sarah Parmenter Sarah, thank you for such a sweet comment! I am far from fluent but I’m glad people seem to be enjoying them. It’s great practice ☺️ Also, weirdly I can’t stand my own voice but I really think I sound better in Japanese 😂
Informative, beautiful and relaxing. Such a gem of a video! Thank you so much. I think I will try to make these. Although Im afraid I will be forced to make the paste from scratch. But that fine. Your designs are gorgeous!
Thank you, your wagashi video.I could really really learn how to make nerikili😋I am going to wait for next your video. And your japanese is really really really gooood ,I respect you.And your drawing pictures also really nice.I also drawing the pictur😊e
I'm so glad to have found your video! Such a great introduction to wagashi and how to make it! And your Japanese is sugoi!! (I am learning Japanese currently as well - it is a tough but interesting language to learn!) May I know if the nerikiri dough can be made/heated up using microwave instead of a stove so as to save time? Also, do you know how long can the nerikiri dough be kept in the refridgerator/freezer if I want to make the dough a few days in advance before making the designed final wagashi? Thank you! :)
WOW!! Your Japanese is AMAZING!! Your Wagashi are soooo lovely and I can't wait to give them a try! FYI for your subscribers you can get both types of An on Amazon. Thank you for sharing your gift🌻
Thank you so much for your very clear instructions. In Australia we can't buy white bean paste, so I made them at home. It had the right consistency as shown in your video. But the red bean paste I bought from a Japanese store isn't as firm as shown in your video. Its hard to make them to a smooth ball. Even after I did, when I pull the white dough up to cover it, it keeps changing its shape. Please tell me if there is a way to make the red bean paste firm. Keeping in the fridge didn't help. Thanks again.
So sorry for the late reply! Those are made of edible gold leaf and silver leaf :) You can find them if you search baking or culinary supplies online, but please make sure they're culinary-grade and safe to eat.
Did you happen to catch the episode with girl from Czechoslovakia? She won a trip to Japan just like you did and she went to Kyoto to learn about wagashi. Latest is she got excepted in Japanese university and will be going to pursue her dream as wagashi maker. Since I live in US I can only see it on TH-cam but you know how strict TH-cam is. If you haven’t seen it keep searching 日本に行きたい人応援団 it keeps popping up. Check out 37:45 for her segment. th-cam.com/video/kUlssWFco10/w-d-xo.html&feature=share
I am in awe of your Japanese linguistic skills. Just beautiful to listen to.

I"ve been wanting to learn Nerikiri Wagashi...This has been really helpful. I hope you'll make more videos of your creation.
Excellent video, especially for beginners. Although I don't speak Japanese, but with the English subtitle it is all very clear. Thank you.

やっほー。凄いね。日本のテレビで貴女の事は知っていました。"really"の発音が真似できないです。チャンネル登録しました。
すばらしいね!
かわいいし、日本語上手
The diamonds you put over nerikiri, what this is made of?

I think I saw this one listed before but forgot to check it before it was pulled down. I will definitely have a look! Thanks for the reminder!
Impressive 👍 both your art Wagashi and your Japanese. Do you know where I can find the tools in US ? Really want to make Wagashi in Spring 😊
I see people make this type of wagashi using fondant tools, they’re cheaper too.
👍🌸
Omg your poor hands that dough looks hot! You can knead it with a tea towel to avoid touching it before it's cool :)
would have preferred it in English
