Age 10 was a very strong period for Angelina. Many will suggest "I'm still holding out for you" , I'll also add in "summertime " with Kork orchestra, its sublime. Autumn Leaves another fantastic performance. These 3 are amongst my favourites.

Angelina is the master of iconic songs by the legends of the music world in any genre.
As far as I know, Angelina was being allowed to be just a child growing up in Norway, without the damaging pressure of greedy commercial forces wanting to make a buck off her talent. She was also allowed to cultivate her talent at will in a sensible manner: Access to excellent musical colleagues and recording facilities, with external exposure limited to charitable and worthy events. This was one of them...
Many people miss this: She comes on stage a shy girl with a timid smile and a little wave "Hi". Then the music begins, and she BECOMES the music! It's not a question of confidence, she KNOWS what she's about and simply gets on with it! Once the music is done, she quietly becomes a timid young girl, usually with a little wave "Bye" - or, in this case, a little curtsy. "Adorable" does not even begin to describe it...

First!!!🙂. She's the best!!! That little "cry" you pointed out a couple of times, I believe is unconscious, not planned. That's was part of her voice back then. You can also clearly hear it in Unchained Melody when she was 9, promoting her book during an interview. That's just one more natural colorful texture she has to her already amazing vocal toolbox!

This performance is Angelina at her best: singing in front (and as part of) a fantastic jazz big band. It's a wonderfully produced stage performance and shows her absolute confidence and mastery of the scene. Even that tolerant smile she gives to the cameraman who's right in her face says a lot. And I've never heard a better vocal performance of this song. She's simply stunning in every way. 😎

There are never enough words to express how you feel after a performance like this. The astonishing fact is that only AJ can take a song and make it her own on each and every performance that is so very much better than the original hit. She is a force like no other in the universe, live long and prosper AJ, we must have more.
Angelina's 10th year was a great one. Probably her most impressive song (period) is "I'm Still Holding Out For You". Written by Baby Fuzz and recorded by Angelina as a demo
for song's writer. The video was LEAKED by an unknown 3rd party(s) in November 2018, and Baby FuzZ released his video in December 2018. It is a jazz, blues, R&B classic.
Most people forget to listen to the runs that come after that big run, but you did hear them. I think they were just as good as the rest of the notes they just get ignored.

Excellent breakdown of this Masterpiece performance. Her 10th year was an amazing year for her with many mind-blowing performances. Most fans, including me, think that was the year when she became a fully "adult" vocal artist, even though she was still only a child. You could fairly compare her to any legendary vocalist without the need to add "for her age!"

Angelina’s beautiful soulful pitch perfect voice touches your heart and soul she is not just an amazing vocalist she is a musical genius, no other female artist has Angelina’s technical ability, her silvery vibrato is like no other, she can change from vibrato to falsetto within a note and visa versa !

There are so many things I get from this performance.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right to left and so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 10.52 in your reaction video.
(9) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who,curseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different and to Angelina's.
13:40 Already at this age, Angelina seems to sing seamlessly in 4 dimensions. Volume, pitch, tone and timing. It seems to her, one doesn't depend on the other, any more than what suits the song.

Josh, I'm delighted with your way of breaking down Angelina's style. As you noted, there is nothing contrived in Angelina's performance, and it is as if she taps into an infinite musical mind that drives her choices for each tiny aspect of this cover. The only way that a 10-year-old (or anyone else) can do this, is if they are able to completely trust their musical mind. Angelina should be a reminder that we all can do such things from time to time and when we do - we know exactly what the process is. It just so happens that Angelina can do this at will. This is why we find ourselves astonished at Angelina's style because, to some degree, it is beyond human. Now, for the ultimate in not being distracted, you should react to Angelina's 2 song performance at the Alan Walker concert (Sing Me to Sleep and Faded). She is 10 years old at that performance too and she goes about her business without regard to a bit of a rowdy crowd and with the knowledge that she is being live streamed all around the world. Angelina was great, AGAIN. Her other rendition of the same song in an outdoor concert, which was professionally produced was great too. Your analysis was spot on and thank you for the comforting words at the end.
I really like this dudes reaction and breakdowns with coming off like the others of going so deep deep into the analysis. Like we all know all this shit with the big words and how the throat should work to make certain sounds etc etc. Hes just plain down to earth and genuine in how he explains stuff that we all non musically/singing folk can understand.

I’ve watched hundreds of reactions to this with many of them just trying to add subscribers but don’t have a clue about what makes Angelina so very special. You do, so I subscribed. Please don’t stay away so long. I think you should jump ahead to see her now as a fresh new 16 year old singing My Funny Valentine. Her voice is just sublime.

Looks like some of the same musicians we've seen on stage for, for example, the outdoor performance of "Diamonds Are Forever."
I've heard numerous A-List singers do this song but they in no way
penetrate me as much as this version by our young 'Queen Of Jazz'

Her interpretation is absolutely personal, she always manages to instill an incredible emotional capacity in her voice and her jazzy inflection is absolutely unique, in a particular way because it was developed by a 10-year-old girl. In effect, as you also detect, one of the major attractive of her presence on the stage, ever, is the extremely simplicity of her musical approach, only her voice, her body, her soul, all the rest (the single musician or an entire band) is only the it's only the artistic frame to her incredible musical essence. 💛 🧡 ❤️
If you're interested, to understand also how this little girl works on developing her song idea, check out this rehearsal recording of this song. You may think it's impossible for a little girl, but this is Angelina, who at 8 (2 years before!) Is already working out her arrangement of "Feeling Good", during a backstage and there are also other similar videos from those years. The covers' arrangements she chooses to do are always hers, even if they may seem unreal and the way she experiences the song, even with her body reactions is really an indication of how much a musical creature she is.

Yes. I've also always been fascinated by the coded hand signal language she has to (I'm guessing) grama Mery. They seem to have some way to communicate messages, arrangement notes, to the accompaniment real time during rehearsals. I've seen several videos/events where some angels have worked out the meaning of several signals.
If I might make a suggestion: one of my favorite reactors is the Charismatic Voice. I really appreciate all the technical detail she goes into in her reactions, which are as much about analysis as they are about reacting.

Btw, she really stepped it up a notch or two when she hit 10 years old. The industry took notice and no longer regarded her as just a nice kid with a great voice. They knew she was a jewel and, like you, were astonished at what she was accomplishing.
Josh, so much of it comes from who she is. When you combine her artistry with the kind of person she is, my goodness, there is no one in the world like her. Obviously, she is very bright and has adapted to the changes in her voice through the years and is very protective of her voice never over extending herself.

If you let people just listen to this performance, I can't imagine anyone figuring out this is a one take, live performance of a 10 year old. I do not hear anything child-like in this performance at least.
Angelina can step in and step out of her performance state in the blink of an eye. In this particular performance she seems very satisfied and happy with the result. She almost always seems to have a lot of fun when performing.

Great reaction. Many people characterize Angelina's singing as painting a musical picture with many colors, shades, and layers. I completely agree with this but I think it goes further. I see her as more of a sculptor, creating a fully alive, multi-dimensional work of art, with each piece having its own unique shape. For your next reaction to a 10 year old Angelina, I highly recommend her performance of the 70's disco hit "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor - th-cam.com/video/ma7sa_n7k-8/w-d-xo.html. It will blow your mind that a 10 year old kid can sound almost exactly like a 40 year old black disco queen.

As for Angelina performances at the age of 10 - there is such a variety to choose from. In my mind Angelina evolved from the feisty nine year old to the silky 10 year old. Silky smooth does not go far enough to describe sound. In the interview before this performance Angelina explained that she was about to take a long trip to the USA. For me, it was a goodbye to Oslo for the summer. I understand that on the return flight she started to write her original song Oslo (she recorded this song on the album Magic, the following year, released in 2018).

Finally a song that was never officially released, recorded in a studio, I'm still Holding out for you - leaked, I assume from someone at the studio let it out. Basically, my opinion is that the world was not ready for it! I have certainly missed some out, but after the last song in the list - Angelina turned 11 - a whole new ball game. The pace of progression of this young lady leaves my head spinning, it has only just begun - I can't even imagine where it will go.
This July Angelina has three concerts in Norway - I hope to hear some new songs, along with the old favourites. It will be a huge gathering of her fans, all longing to see her perform live outdoors - her best setting...
The music itself is pretty repetitive, so she wanted to do different things with her voice to make it more interesting. She arranges all her music performances, and it just blows me away that she made all those decisions with the orchestra as well. Thank you for your analysis once again! I agree: even as young as she is in this performance, Angelina has AMAZING musical instincts. She just knows what she wants and, remarkably, knows how to get it. It's absolutely NOT normal for a 10 year old to be this mature a vocal artist -- but there she is!

It was recorded one week before she turning 11. Some consider it to represent one of Angelina's best vocal performances.
I was starting to wonder if you would ever get back to Angelina.🙂 You asked if there were any other performances at 10 you should react to. Chronologically, this one was actually one of the last things she did at 10, but you should definitely do at least "Back to Black" and "I'm Still Holding Out for You" before you move on to age 11.
Now, I have to warn you: *she did not sing Amy's lyrics* on her cover of "Back to Black" (which can be found on her Official channel), so you need not go through those in your reaction (unless you just want to present what Amy sang, for comparison sake - but note that some of the lines are quite vulgar, so… you might want to just skip that). Because of the explicit nature of Amy's lyrics, Angelina had to rewrite them. Instead of just rewriting the problematic parts, she _completely_ rewrote the song from scratch - and reportedly had but a single day to accomplish that. Unfortunately, when you search the web for Angelina's lyrics for the song, what Google serves up is _riddled_ with errors, from the very first line onwards, so you shouldn't use those lyrics, either.
Here's what I think she sings - based not only on the video that you're going to react to (which was apparently the second take they recorded), but also the other take that they (mostly) didn't use, and a few live performances of the song she did the following year. In those live performances, though, she never sang the song exactly the same way twice, so I only used them to help pin down what she sang in the original studio recording. The lines I'm not sure about are marked with asterisks (the more asterisks, the more uncertainty):

Notes:
* The last word of "In loneliness behind this lie" might be "light".
* I don't have any alternative wordings for "From this fun part of life" and "Shame they get it so far", but they just seem wrong.
* I have the final word of "I fall back and" as "and" mainly because that makes more sense grammatically than "in", which it also could be.
* The repeated line, "I'm still laughing", could also be "I still laugh at", but, again, I'm going with what makes more sense grammatically.
I’d almost count this as an original by Angelina. Also the changes she did for Rehab which I think is a much better song overall.

Josh, please delete the reply to my previous comment from tamara launcike whose nonsense comment has a link to a porn site in it. I tried to report it to YT with no success. Almost every Angelina reaction has at least 1 to as many as 5 or 6 of these comments with embedded links to porn sites. They are always in a foreign language & when you translate them, they don't make sense. They are becoming a real problem, so please keep an eye out for them in the future. Thanks.
