How would you compare this course to Bird's "Ultimate chords course" Tony?

To be honest, I haven't taken the Birds Ultimate course, I took the 2 blues courses, and the free mini chords course (and they were fabulous!).
I have looked at the content of the Ultimate Course and there is a ton of material in there, and it will take you to the same place (being able to look at a chord sheet for a song and be able to learn and play it pretty quickly, and then throw in some improv to "spice up" your playing. And having taken other courses from Arthur Bird, he is a great teacher and has great practice exercises.
As I mention in the Piano Man Approach review, his course is probably the most "meat and potatoes" course I've taken; it's a very quick and efficient way to learn to play. I think the biggest difference between this course and any other course is a HEAVY focus on rhythm & establishing a rhythm pattern in your left hand that matches the genre of the song.
To be honest, you will get a ton out of either of these courses; they will both teach you how to play well.

Thanks for the review. How would you compare this course to the famous piano for all course by Robin Hall? It sounds like Piano man's is more concise.

Hi there! They're both great courses (I did a review on Pianoforall as well here: th-cam.com/video/cK1BXdlVhUk/w-d-xo.html)
I would have to say the Piano Man Approach is probably a bit more concise, and a bit more "meat and potatoes", and is more directed towards teaching you how to learn how to play songs.
One of the biggest difference would be the delivery method - Robin's course is downloadable PDF's so they have the advantage of being easily available offline, where Steve's course is video tutorial based.
I've taken both and gotten tons from both.
Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe

I have both courses. The Piano Man Approach is great! I would reccommend getting that one. Robin Halls course I didn't like. In my opinion Robin Hall rushes through his lessons too fast leaving me frustrated and confused. I especially didn't like he uses mostly folk music from the old country whatever country that is somewhere in Europe in his lessons to teach his techniques. A real turnoff to me to learn from songs I dont want to know.

Do you prefer piano man or piano for all?

They’re both awesome, depends on what you might like better…. Listening to / watching a video based lesson or mostly reading with small video tutorials; personally I do like both but if I had to pick one for myself it would be the Piano Man Approach.

Sounds perfect for me as a total beginner. I only know majors and minors ( not on eyesight ) by counting the keys. Btw is a sustain pedal needed at the start of learning , to hold the chords ?

Piano Man Approach is an awesome course and Steve is a great instructor. And yes you do need a sustain pedal even when you're starting out so you can get used to using it early. There are good inexpensive ones on Amazon, just make sure whatever you get has a polarity switch so it will work with any keyboard (M-Audio SP-2 is really good).

I am not sure if this type of courses (chord based) works well for those who play solo and does not want to just accompany oneself when singing (regardless of the style) or using any additional tracks.

Ps. My learning to play piano (apart from some courses like Skoove or flowkey that I tried) was Pianote for a year (did not like Lisa’s approach), private lessons, ArtistWorks (for more than a year), Tonebase (lifetime membership) and some jazz courses (including college course) that I basically failed (I like structure!)

The PMA course is absolutely fantastic for modern non-classical music, but it is tailored towards accompaniment for sure. He does have an add-on course on incorporating the melody of a song into the right hand improv which is not easy but is super cool if that's your goal. The left hand rhythm patterns alone improved my play drastically (got my songs sounding more like the originals and keeps them from all sounding the same).

I'm interested, but I don't know if this will work for me (specially because I speak spanish and I might get lost with technical words). Regardless, it seems really interesting so I'm considering it :)
Thank you for this review, anything that helps to learn piano is welcome

It is a great course, and it isn’t overly technical, but it is all video based (there is no written material) so depending on your level of English it might be an extra challenge.
