I would suggest getting the endorsements while you are in trucking school. I got my tanker and passenger endorsements while I was in trucking school. It was no extra charge thru my school. I think it was very helpful to go ahead and get them at that time. Just my own personal opinion.
Hello Jodie I had a question. How did you go about getting the Passenger endorsement? I’ve been having some trouble as I’ve been told I need to take a passenger vehicle/bus to the DPS for a road and skills test. Also did you have to do parallel parking on a bus as well
@@bmpingo I’m in NY, and it was like a total of $15 to take all 3 at the same time. But you can’t get your fingerprinting and background check completed until you have your full license.
I regret getting my CDL endorsements while I was in CDL School... you can get your CDL endorsements at any time... I never wanted to drive a tanker... I pulled a set of doubles... something I never really wanted to do... multi-drop trailers... all that coupling uncoupling attaching the converter dolly... was not my cup of tea!
If you don’t get them while your in Cdl school then you will pay for it and go thru the process to get them outside of Cdl school but while your in Cdl school it’s the best way to get them all even if you don’t use them. It’s better to be over qualitied then under qualitied
I got my CDL permit and tanker endorsement at the same time and I haven't gotten the official CDL yet. It was an extra $18 and I want to have as many options as possible.
In Maryland I don’t think you can get your hazmat until you have your cdl and fingerprints. They would only let me take tanker and after cdl I can get doubles and hazmat, also applied for twic card. I figured it’s better to have them and not need them and allows for a faster transition if an opportunity opens up that requires one.
@@Yardman_876 I got my tanker and doubles/ triple endorsements but waited too long on hazmat. I went to get my hazmat endorsement after February this year and they require ELDT certification to take it the test and the school I went to wanted another $300 for that. I’m currently on a dedicated account which doesn’t require any endorsements that pays .70 a mile. I will eventually get my twic card and hazmat as planned but I kind of lucked out and got on this dedicated account after only 3 months experience.

Yes I would if I were you. I wish I did while I was in school. But a week after I got a few. Doubles, triples, and tankers. It helped me get my job now. I haul bottoms dumps. To me it's better have and no needing than needing and no having. Depends of course like was mention in video on what you'll be doing or Avenue you wish going with your CDL. .
In Texas you can't get endorsements until after you your CDL, but my CDL school does reimbursement for endorsements up to 6 months after you finish. I just got my CDL and got my hazmat and tanker just to expand my options for employment plus i'm being reimbursed. Hope that helps.
I never planned on driving a tanker but it came in handy when I decided to plow snow for MODOT. Plus the experience of driving a tanker is like nothing I had ever experienced. With different endorsements you have the opportunity to drive whatever you prefer. Passenger endorsement opens different doors for you as well. I drove a passenger bus/shuttle at Ft Lauderdale airport. I have never been limited to just driving a 53' trailer. I have freedom to open any door I want with my CDL and endorsements. Good luck to you in your journey.
I’m in CDL school now. . I already had my permit before I went to school and I had tanker already as well. When I took the tanker it cost under $10 and the test is like 16 questions. I advise everyone to add those endorsements they’re going to give you more jobs openings and more money to be negotiated. After school I’m going back to get all of the remaining endorsements just to have on my CDL license.Go to your DMV and take the tests, they’re not expensive. I test next week 🙌🏾🙌🏾. God Bless everyone!
YES YOU SHOULD! You want to be the MAN wearing many hats 🧢🪖🎓🎩. You might end up missing out on jobs and money. In some cases all the endorsement(s) aren't necessary but can be helpful when the opportunity presents itself. If YES opportunity/opportunities and doors open along with possible 💰. If NO chances are u might miss out in generally. There's a saying what one person/man can't or won't do another will. as far as what??
Having as many Endorsements, from day one, makes you more Hireable, in the trucking industry, weather or not you ever use them.

Did they send you another license? Do you keep the current one as they add the endorsements to your license?

The DMV charges per endorsement when you go there to take the test for each endorsement
Just got my CDL A on Friday , I regret not getting it before

What’s wrong with automatic trucks? A lot of old timers complain about them. Is it due to them liking manual more?
