    • @BlancaflorArada
      @BlancaflorArada  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome Sir that you find my video helpful. For your question, I think that it is really necessary to have a duration assigned for each activity because that is the only way you can identify the critical path. :)

    Can this be used for completion of Performance Management Implementation of HR? Also please do let me know why did you not used here parameters like 'Early Start', Early Finish' 'Slack Time' 'Late Start' and "Late Finish'. Without that will not it be technically flawed or is it essential for engineering ptoject only? Your clarification would hrlp. Thanks Mam.

    • @BlancaflorArada

      It is not for engineering projects only. I used an example in Systems Analysis and Design 10th edition by Harry J. Rosenblatt.

    show how to identify where there is slack of time

    • @BlancaflorArada
      @BlancaflorArada  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, sorry for the late reply. Slack time usually happens when there are two tasks that are both predecessors of the next task. Example Task A = 10 days and Task B = 25 days and both must be finished to start Task C. There will be a slack time of 15 days (25 - 10) in the case of Task A, which has the fewer number of days compared to Task B. This means Task A can "slack off" or not rush the completion for ten days because it only requires 10 days to finish, while Task C is 25 days. Hope my explanation helps. 😊

    Hello po. Do you have any idea po how to compute for the slack time sa example po na to. Thank you po. :)

    • @BlancaflorArada
      @BlancaflorArada  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good day po!
      According to Rosenblatt (2014), slack time for an event is the amount of time by which an event can be late without delaying the project. The slack time for an event is the difference between its latest completion time (LCT) and earliest completion time (ECT).
      Slack time can be found if there are simultaneous tasks. For the example given, Tasks 5 and 6 and Tasks 7 and 8 are simultaneous tasks. Between Tasks 5 and 6, the task with the slack time is Task 5 because Task 5 has a duration of only 5 days while Task 6 is 15 days. The slack time of Task 5 is 10 days (15 - 5 = 10). This means that you can delay Task 5 up to 10 days without delaying the project. Just the same between Tasks 7 and 8, Task 8 has the slack time which is 4 days (7 - 3 = 4). Hope this helps 😊

  • @buttercup2049

    Do we round off po ba the finished/completion time? What if I got 16.5 days, can I change it to 17 po ba?

    • @BlancaflorArada
      @BlancaflorArada  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, because you have to count a day as a whole, not in fraction.

    Hi Maam..
    Finish= Start+Duration -1
    Why "minus 1" maam? Thank you for the explanation 😊

    • @BlancaflorArada
      @BlancaflorArada  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is more of logic. Example Your Start = Day 1 and your Duration = 1. To get the Finish date, the answer will not be Day 2, as based on our usual counting, because it will not match the indicated Duration. This just means that for PERT/CPM, if the duration is one (1) day, it means the task should be finished on that SAME day. I think this is the easiest explanation that I can give you that is why Finish = (Start + Duration) - 1. I also explained here in this video that PERT/CPM does not follow our usual counting of days, because you will get incorrect Finish Day/s for the task/s.
      Even the explanation of Systems Analysis and Design book by Harry J. Rosenblatt page 99 does not fully explain this: "The finish day/date is the time that a task is scheduled to be completed. To calculate the finish day or date, you add the duration to the start day or date. When you do this, you must be very careful not to add too many days. For example, if a task starts on Day 10 and has a duration of 5 days, then the finish would be on Day 14 - not Day 15."
      Hope this helps! 😊😊😊
