    Excellent review. Three standout points: 1. Fat free, egg cooking; 2. Water free, cleaning; 3. No crappy 'musac' during the quiet bits. Brilliant. Watched it while listening to my choice of background music - 'The Drifters All Time Greatest Hits,' this evening! Thank you and keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the detailed hands-on-use review! I was considering getting a 1100 pot with bail because I was not sure if everything on the pan would stick. It seems quite nice to have one with a pan.

    Sorry I'm late to the party, but, your alcohol burner distributes the flames better than a pocket rocket mini stove. You're spot on about titanium and heat distribution. I have the Toaks 1300 ml pot/pan kit. I pull my titanium cookware from the flame, quite often, in order to stir whatever I'm cooking. That being said, I own three Toaks cook pots and I love them all. Thanks for the demo. Happy hiking!

      I was looking at the 1300ml pot/pan how many eggs can you cook in that pan? should i go with the 1600ml pot/pan instead?

    • @pastrybaker72
      @pastrybaker72 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drxqcl1567 I cook around 4 scrambled eggs at a time. The 1300ml is ample size. Just make sure you keep your heat source low. Titanium will burn your food quickly. I would suggest melting butter, in the pot, before adding the eggs. Just keep an eye out as the eggs cook. Good luck!

    Well, I'm a bit late to your review, just a bit? hahahahaha. Came across your review and convinced me to buy the set, and no regrets so far! (seen and purchased 2022). Best and most honest review i've seen for this piece of kit. Toaks owe you a few purchases mate, i got the 450ml, 750ml and a couple of lids, as well as this set. Cheers.

    8:22 People have had issues with the handle because they are dumb, and clamping the handle to tight, so it squeezes together cause the Pan to fall off.

    • @ZimCoSurvival

      I would say no. Titanium is bad for hot spots. I would say it's great for camp cooking but if you use it every day at home it may get a bit annoying. Now if you dont mind that little hot spot problem then yes, it's durable enough to cook on daily. Just don't get it to hot. No high settings on your stove or potential warping could happen

    One dissapointing thing is there is no bail handle on the toaks set with pot and pan, its like you have to choose between the frying pan or bail handle.

    • @ZimCoSurvival

      I recently purchased one with the bail handle and moved the pan over to that one. So now I have both. However you can purchase the pan separately as well!

    Great video. Suggestion, check out chef Gordon Ramsey's youtube video for making scrambled eggs. His method would work perfectly with this pan and heat source combination and will also minimise the amount of cleaning. Using abrasives on titanium tends to reduce the non-stick qualities over time.

  • @thriftysurvivor6117

    Thanks for this informative video. Another advantage titanium has over aluminum, not to mention weight, is titanium is also non toxic to cook in whereas aluminum releases toxins when heated to typical cooking temperatures. For that reason, I'd still be willing to pay $50 or even more for lightweight cookware that's non toxic to cook in. A pot of this size constructed of aluminium would weigh a bit more so there is a slight weight advantage as well; apples to apples.
    The difference in weight between titanium and stainless steel is much greater. I'm also looking for more of a bugout or base camp pot set. My primary criteria is that it's non toxic to cook in. For me, the weight is secondary. I understand stainless steel is relatively safe for cooking, but titanium even trumps that, plus the weight advantage of titanium over stainless steel goes without question. For someone who is on a budget, this titanium pot and pan set is one of the more affordable ones of this size.
    I also like the way you demonstrated that you can cook eggs in titanium without butter or any kind of grease or oil. Titanium is also fairly resistant to sticking. Sure, it may have poor heat conductivity, but the trade off is that even if you burn something in it, it's pretty easy to clean.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • @ZimCoSurvival
      @ZimCoSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly! Titanium is worlds ahead of every other camp cookware on the market. Although it will cost a premium price lol

    • @ZimCoSurvival

      The reason mine doesn't show hot spots is that i normally use a decota fire pit or a rock stove to cook over a fire. My alcohol stove doesn't produce hot spots since I normally cook on simmer :) since I love cooking out doors im not the ( 0 to boiling in 4.4 seconds ) kind of guy

    Grade 1/2 is just basic titanium; they are the softer grades and have good cold forming ability. I don't know if there are lower quality titanium grades.
    Its gradations, not graduations (you aren't graduating from college here).
    I think pretty much everyone knows a pot's capacity is the absolute amount - there was no need to belabour a very obvious fact.
    UL cooking pot should be 500-600 oz??? Really? What are you really trying to say - Maybe your entire pack weight?
    You could easily cook 4 eggs in that lid and it would not be "overloaded" - it's just scrambled eggs not sunny side up!

    • @ZimCoSurvival
      @ZimCoSurvival  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find you pointing out times that I obviously misspoke interesting. And not all manufacturers use the top of the pot for advertised capacity, stanly for example. So yes it was worth pointing out.... as per titanium grades each has a benefit and drawback so their isn't a low or high grade titanium. For more information visit
