I was raised in the Baptist faith but when I discovered 7 books were missing in the Old Testament and that I hadn't recognized Jesus instituting in John 19 and Matthew 16 18 John 6 5155 He went on to say if you love me you will obey me. So after reading Catholic Catechism. I could see the great love Jesus had done for us to assist us to get to heaven . I wanted to out of love and respect for Jesus wear first a scarf then the veil. I still do. for me I love my Jesus to go to him in Eucharist without a veil for me I feel I don't show respect this is God Almighty who died for me.

I veil. I am the only woman in my Church who does. God asked me to. Priests has asked my husband and I to bring the Eucharist many times.

A Veil is a Sacramental. A Sacramental can be defined as a sacred/blessed object (like an icon), gesture (like kneeling), a time (as in a feast day), a place (like a church), a substance (like Holy Water), which help to improve, enhance, inspire or encourage, faithful devotion, first and foremost to the Most Holy Trinity (GOD the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit), as well as to Blessed Virgin Mary, to the Apostles, Disciples and the Saints. Sacramentals help a Catholic to make concrete and meaningful connections, between their external devotional actions, with their internal faith and belief, and vice versa.

      1 Corinthians 11
1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2: Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
3: But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4: Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5: But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6: For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
      ella hope 1 Corinthians 11
7: For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8: For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
9: Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10: For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11: Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12: For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

I wear a chapel veil at mass. However, I have heard the argument that since the 1983 code of canon law is silent on the subject of women covering their heads in church that it is no longer required, although not forbidden. Is this true?

Thank you for your question, which we will submit to Father Albert. In the meantime, we remind you that God has established a hierarchy in His creation, not only among the angels, but also among mankind. In consequence of Eve’s role in the Fall, God has ordained that wives be subject to their husbands, and by a Sacred Tradition commanded by Our Lord Himself, women demonstrate their willing submission to this divine ordinance through wearing the chapel veil. Saint Paul, who writes of this matter, assures us: “The things that I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.” (1 Cor. 14:37)
As an ordinance of God, the wearing of the veil cannot be dispensed with by any pastor or bishop, not even a Pope.
Father Gruner once wrote, “In the last 30 years or thereabouts, I have not heard of any priest telling the women in their parish to cover their heads at Mass. Some of them, no doubt, think that this was changed at Vatican II or in the early years following Vatican II. The fact is, you ladies have been misled and are not getting all the benefit of your prayers and pious works when you go to Mass on Sundays without covering your head in church. For all your efforts and all your good will, you are not getting the benefit you should because you have not been told that this is displeasing to God. It is important for us then to pray for our priests, bishops, Cardinals and the Pope that they do their job well; that they tell us the whole truth that we need to know, so we can all rejoice together in Heaven instead of finding ourselves cast little by little down to hell. As Sister Lucy says, ‘We will be saved together or we will be damned together.’”
It is an honor for a woman to distinguish herself as a faithful servant of God by wearing the veil, just as she would dishonor herself by refusing to wear it. “Every woman praying with her head not covered, disgraceth her head: for it is all one as if she were shaven.” (1 Cor. 11:5)
The importance of the practice is clear from the prayers of the Roman Pontifical for the blessing of the veil worn by consecrated religious:
“Receive the sacred veil, that thou mayst be known to have despised the world, and to be truly, humbly, and with all thy heart subject to Christ as His bride; and may He defend thee from all evil, and bring thee to life eternal.”

When you pray, you become visible. Paul says that women should cover their heads during prayer for the sake of the angels. It is a way of not tempting them when they appear during prayer, because of the fallen angels that were tempted by human women during the days of Jarrod. Man, being in the image of God, should leave his head uncovered so that the angels can acknowledge his authority.

+JMJ Like a tabernacle holding the precious Body of our Lord, Mary, the Blessed Virgin Mother was always veiled. She is the living tabernacle of the only begotten Son of the Father. Veiling is a sign of feminine modesty and thus honors motherhood in the sight of God and the Faithful.

Paul said for women to cover their heads "because of the angels." He thought he was protecting women from fallen angels, who, in Genesis 6 and also in the Book of Enoch, it is told raped human women and produced the race of giants. I think that a veil is unnecessary to protect from fallen angels because the woman who accepts Christ as Savior is covered by the protection of his blood. Further, the Eucharist is further protection for women, as well as men. So I'm actually seeing the veil as an insult to Christ because it implies that something further is needed, or that his protection is not enough, or is deficient and needs to be supplemented. So wearing a doile on your head is no competition for being covered by the blood of Christ and ingesting his body and blood in the eucharist!

Thank you for your comment. Cornelius a Lapide gives the following commentary on that passage in First Corinthians:
"Because of the angels -- The literal sense is that women ought to have a covering on the head out of reverence to the angels; not because angels have a body, and can be provoked to lust, as Justin, Clement, and Tertullian thought-this is an error I exposed in the notes to Gen. 6-but because angels are witnesses of the honest modesty or the immodesty of women, as also of their obedience or disobedience. So Chrysostom, Theophylact, Theodoret, S. Thomas, Anselm."
      God bless you.

If men are so weak as to be distracted by the sight of women's hair, why put the onus on the women to remove this distraction. Why not instruct the men to cover their eyes.
