He was a legend. Stanley Kubrick was a legend. Recently, Stanley Kubrick's friend and collaborator, the legendary film composer Gerald Fried died on February this year.
Of the three characters, I don't know who had the most impact : as Ermey (the real deal) and D'Onofrio (another level here) truly bring a lot more than expected, whereas Modine is equally good.
@@anthonylewis2080 Mathew Modine stared in part 1 and also in part 2. Technically, that would make him the goat. But due to part 2 was almost irrelevant, this gives it to Ermey, hands 👐 down.🤔
I just wish directors would start using the older technology cameras again . For a full-on film and forget green screen technology and all all that for just one minute one more movie that looks like 80's and 90's cinema n really knock it out of the park with great cast. It would sell so hard

When you're a director and at take 95 because a top-tier movie star like tom Cruise doesn't walk through a doorway the way you want him to is a sadist maniac.
It's because imo he just saw the actors as extensions of the environment which while not entirely incorrect discredits the methods in which actors produce heartfelt work.
I wonder sometimes if he was autistic. He was great technically but the way he treated actors was just bizarre. I guess it worked though, he made some great movies.
I think there are great performances in his films- Kirk Douglas in Paths of Glory, Peter Sellers in Strangelove, Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange, James Mason and Shelly Winters in Lolita.
I know I'm super in the minority but I feel like Stanley Kubrick was super overrated. If he accomplished what he accomplished without being a piece of shit to people- then the man wouldve been a legend
i dont mean this to be funny, has he ever worked with someone more than once? details please, oh and i only means actors/actresses not grips, producers, etc
One of my favorite movies ever. FMJ had top notch actors.

Matthew as "Private Joker" and Vince as "Private Gomer Pyle." They were superb! R.Lee Ermey as "Sgt.Carter," "off the charts!!....😉👍

Amazing film ❤
Stanley Kubrick is my type of director.
I Miss Stanley Kubrick.
Full Metal Jacket- one of the best films- also with best actors
Stanley Kubrick: visual poet. Hard to turn a novel into a film. But I can't imagine a Kubrick film turned into a novel. The Vision. Miss him
Genius legend visionary there isn’t a word that has or will ever come close to describing Master Kubrick

Not everyone appeals to the asthetic and nostalgia of the 80s, modern films are for modern audiences.

@@lasinloser3979 modern audiences have been disrespected and they don't even care. they are happy with shitty cinematography and artificial sets.
I had absolutely no clue he was the guy who played Joker, he really doesn’t look much like his younger self but the voice hit me
Who are you talking about?
Donofrio is a 🐐

Did Matthew Modine have a cameo in ‘House of the Dragon’ I was unaware of? 😁
I’m convinced he’s Rick Rubin in disguise.
Why did Matthew Modine turn into Lucious Malfoy for a second?
One of the best movies in the 80's : no argument!.
Sounds like a swell guy [!] or...
Why did he terrorise Shelly Duvall in the Shinning? I don't see how his treatment of her help improve her performance.

To be honest Stanley Kubrick was amazing but he was terrible at directing actors

I'm a Kubrick fan but this kinda explains why most performances in his films were very wooden 💀
which is the complete opposite of what's been said in the video. Great comprehension skills

Quality movie making is rare anymore. I've seen so much garbage over the last 5 years.
I haven't seen any garbage films, because I don't bother going to see films anymore.
Then stop watching garbage. There's always great stuff out there
