I have recently discovered him. I CANNOT get enough of him!! He's an interesting person, buying an apartment for his mom, not a drugged out musician, cares about his health, animals, he's really funny, and very perceptive and has worked really hard on his voice. He's too much perfection for 1 man!!! ❤😂 so much to admire about him including that epic iconic voice!!!!

"Nessun Dorma" is not a song you can just pick up and sing - you have to put everything into this piece. And Dan absolutely did this justice. As you said Dave, operatic pieces are very technical and precise, and I think Dan did a beautiful job here. Wholeheartedly agree, it is "criminal" how underrated this song is. Thank you for giving it some love! Excellent reaction as always, I enjoy your analysis and watching you get emotionally drawn into the music!
Because he spent years perfecting his instrument, he earned the skill with hard work, determination and his love of music. He said he believes in skill, like learning to play a guitar. I disagree a little in that he does have talent and talent has a part in being this good, but the willingness to learn the technical aspects plays a bigger part. I haven't heard him sing anything yet that I thought was bad. Love this gentleman.
Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli are opera singers - and then there is DAN VASC - he's not an opera singer, he's a freak of nature.

Accidentally found him yesterday and I am addicted. Dan Vasc is crack , man. He should sing on stage with Bocelli.
Sorry to say this, but He would blow Bocelli off the stage - i love Bocelli, but DAN, he's a lot more powerful singer (he's also, mind you, something like 40 years younger and way more fit)

Yes sadly, to quote a CNN idjit, Bocelli is sadly now "past his prime". He looks older than I. WTH is his wife doing? I guess she's more the manager, more concerned with his earnings.
I have listened to Dan back to back to back with Bocelli and Pavorati several times and Dan outshines them both IMO.

Probably listened to this a dozen times in the last two weeks and teared up every time. There will be ‘experts’ that will probably pick-a-part his vocals but from a music fan from the Gunners to the Pumpkins to Iron Maiden to Chopin to Mozart et al this is perfection. Dan Vasc should be a superstar- should be touring and should come to Australia 🇦🇺 Whether it’s rock, heavy, hymnal, Rick-rolling or Adele-ing this bloke is now my favourite all time singer. Incredible.🤟🐨🇦🇺
Actually, i dont think there will be anyone, who will be able to ever pick apart his performance of this song.
I've heard it sung by all the greatest operasingers, and to this day, i will prefer Dan's version over theirs anytime, because he brings something to it that they don't, a quality in his toning, the way he hits the notes, the rhythm of his vibrato, and his emotional connection to the lyrics - it's so special
@@TheAnnestube I’ve read some comments from ‘experts’ that nitpick his vocals. I’m no singing expert- far from it my wife says😂 But there is a quality to his voice that for me hits the sweet spot. Just listened to Gethsemane ( not a fan of the actual song) but his performance was awe inspiring. Talent. 😊
To think of Dan as just a cover guy (I'm not singling you out so don't take it that way, Dave!) does Dan an immense disservice. I think he's legitimately a world-class talent.
Ya! I have thought since I first heard him sing Amazing Grace, that was the first I'd heard of him. I cried , I had goose numps and just thought he's the best singer I have EVER heard. He even beat Elivis singing Amazing Grace. And thats saying something, because I never thought there would be ANYONE who could out do Elvis, but he did! I had Great respect for him. But then..... when I heard him sing this... I cried and shook and could barely breathe! I'm not joking.
He has talent beyond anyone I have ever heard. His range is phenomenal! Absolutely can't believe it! I've listened to this for umteen times now, and I still react the same. He just does something to me!! I think maybe he's an Angel!

I sure wish I'd "met" Dan YEARS ago, and you as well, sir. I'm entirely with you on the "moving power" of music. All I ever wanted to do was SING...and I did, for most of my life, from age two until age 58 (in 2009), when (due to rheumatoid arthritis throwing my body into contortions), I lost nearly all of my 5-octave range. I could still sing bass, and a little bit up into the tenor range, but I was so bent over that I couldn't get enough breath to reach up any further. I was still able to whistle (which I had been told over and over sounded like my Mom's beautiful violin-playing...not surprising, as I'd heard her play every day of my life). It was so VERY hard to have such limitations on my voice. Finally, I had both hips replaced in 2017, and slowly, slowly, slowly, I have been building back my voice. Now, in 2023 (at age 73), I've mastered the two register changes that I used to soar through, that I couldn't do at all, for so many years. I still can't reach into that 5th octave, but I'm getting there. Part of what helped, was buying myself a trumpet in 2020 (I used to play cornet, but hadn't been able to do that for a long time, either). That has helped stretch and hone a steady stream of air, in order to help get into my upper ranges once again. I'm still struggling, but I finally feel like music is MINE once again. Over the years, I've maintained by listening to others and throwing myself into THEIR music. Until I heard Dan sing Amazing Grace (and now I've heard nearly all of his other songs--including this one) I lived for groups like Home Free, to keep me going. Now, watching and listening to Dan and closely watching his techniques, I've grabbed onto some of those...like old memories finally surfacing. Watching YOU react to his music affects me the same way. I know those feelings! At the moment, I can't afford to add to any of my other music group and reactor donations, but I will be supporting you when I can. Thank you very much, for adding such wonderful enjoyment to my days.
You are not the only emotional mess when it comes to Dan Vasc. He touches my heart, grabs it pulls it out stamps on it and puts it back in. Loved it and your reaction.

When my mom heard Dan's cover of this song, she was speechless. As was I. I was already his fan and my mom became one after this song. In Polish we have a saying which can be translated as "he bought me with this" which means she was impressed and became a fan 😁

I don’t think there is anything he can’t sing. Thing is, the people in the US, for the most part, do not really care for opera
It demands technical precision, passion, and the ability to lead with emotion. Not to mention the opera voice. Dan is beloved by many, not only for his beautiful voice, or his looks, but also his skills, his charm, and the way that he connects and resonates with people. Even through something as impersonal as the internet.
He is also humble. He knows he has worked for this, but I wonder if he really understands the depth of people’s respect and care for him.
Dan is mind blowing EVERY SINGLE TIME, but this one is over the top!

He absolutely can do it all and he does! He's lead singer for the metal band FEARLESS, which he formed with friends, and currently only performs live in Brazil. Hunt him/them down for more magic.

Just this morning I said I wanted to hear him sing Nessun Dorma! My comparison is not fair as I am remembering the 3 greatest tenors, Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras performing this, and they were spectacular. Also, Turandot is one of my favorite operas. That being said, Mr. Vasc does not disappoint! No, he is not on the same level as the aforementioned gentlemen, but, damn!, he grabs the music with both hands and flings it into the cosmos! He displays such vocal power that ones jaw drops, though he lacks the finesse of a trained opera singer. And you are correct that he injects a great deal of emotion into his performance. He is amazing and courageous. I don't have the chutzpah to publicly perform such a well loved aria, but he does so with power, beauty and grace.

I have to agree with a few others on here and you should definitely check out Dan's cover of Gethsemane, you will need the tissues handy. For most covers that Dan puts out I think you need to have either a shot of tequila or throw back a beer just to bring you back to reality. :)

Dan was classically trained and grew up singing opera (I think). I read a comment somewhere that his father was Italian; so he was at least bilingual. He performed Elvis Presley’s “American Trilogy” in his father’s honor, and it, too, is amazing.
Dan Vasc is trilingual then, he is Brazilian. So he would know Italian of course, if it is true that his dad is Italian and Portuguese , plus he speaks English 😊
