I would think that you should fill it up install the fill port plugs then try pushing the piston and see if you get fluid out of the side exit ports. By doing this you are allowing the holding area for the fluid can be pressurized.
AMC was notorious about using one year only stuff. bean counters would find stuff or deals that saved 25c . I drive a 59 ram;ler. with 490k miles on it. and have ran across oddities.
This is highly inaccurate: the complete opposite is true. Amc used the same damned parts over and over, more so than any of the big three because they had no budget!

I have a 61 AMC classic parts car with an automatic trans with 60k mils on it . the engine is locked up. it looks a lot like yours but the tail lights are different. I drive a 59 classic
Yep they changed the front in 61 then the back end in 62 but 58 through 60 are my favorite body stile. I am working on a 60 super that I shortened to a 2 door and I have a 60 custom parts car and a 58 ambassador that is now a 4x4 with 44" boggers and 440 mopar under the hood but i think I might redo it again as a streetable 4x4 as I do not play in the mud anymore. They are all classics.
I appreciate you watching! Here's the insane disassembly video I mentioned th-cam.com/video/uGjN6C7IhJA/w-d-xo.html
I enjoy how you rebuild everything that you can. Most would replace. You keep original as much as possible. Lots of respect from Newfoundland Canada.
I try. Thank you for the nice comment. I appreciate you watching the videos.
Hi Richard - wonderful progress on the brakes. I'm happy that you found the NOS parts and that they worked out well for you.
Thanks. Thanks for watching as always.
Hey this is one of your best. I’m also ready to bleed the brakes on my 72 Maverick good luck to both of us.
Thanks for the nice comment. Yeah hopefully Lady Luck is on our side.
Way to go! Getting close to 5 k subscribers!
Almost. Thanks for watching all this time.

That’s a good thought. I will keep that in mind for the next master cylinder. Thank you.

That's interesting. I guess they were kind of economy cars. At some point anyways. 490k miles. Wow. That's impressive.

Church rummage sales are cool for at least 1 tool.
Agreed. There’s usually a lot of books & kids clothes.
Do you have a link to the eBay seller you got that NOS brake kit from? I’ve got a couple of projects that need love.
The eBay seller name is roblinsgarage (Roblin's Classic Auto Salvage). Thanks for watching.
