This is really a good video. I've had genital herpes since 1981. At first I felt like a pariah and didn't date for several years, but eventually I got back out there. I ALWAYS tell the men I'm with before we become intimate, usually on the second date. I take antiviral medication and we use condoms when I'm not having an outbreak. Oddly enough, in almost 40 years of dating post-herpes, and several boyfriends, I've never had a guy break up with me because of it and I've never given it to any of them.

I dont trust people that much . Well I just told my dad my sex partner tested positive for chlamydia and he took it quite well he quickly set up an appointment to get a test i was so stressed to tell him cuz I thought he would be pissed but nah he was proud I told him he said I was mature and smart on telling him to get a test to be on the safe side :)

Actually, you can get a test by yourself. If you go to planned parenthood, they will literally give you a free test. That's how it works. They give free tests to people under the age of 18.
I have a 16 y.o. daughter. I don't think she's been sexually active yet but I would hope she knows she could always talk 2 me about a subject like that and I wouldn't get mad. That must have took alot of courage to do so u should be exceptionally proud of yourself 4 doing the right thing

Once someone stops taking their meds, it gets harder for new meds to be effected. So you are totally dependent on someone else taking their meds.

I’m embarrassed to say this and I hope I don’t get any mean comments . I have an std . The person I with didn’t tell me till after words . When I told my ex of 6 years that I have one he made me feel unwanted and horriable about myself . So much so that I’ve felt I was never allowed to be with anyone ever again . Obviously u should tell them sooner then later but if you want to take a test run at it make up that 1 of ur friends just found out they got whatever it is u have. There reaction to that should at least give u a general idea of how they will react when u tell them

I hate how the girl downplayed her herpes. I had a friend who did exactly the same thing to her BF, aaaaand he ended up getting herpes. She wanted him to give him orals and he didn't want to because he was afraid of catching it. She said, "Cmon baby, I'm not even going through a breakout." Next thing you know, he was having a breakout around his mouth. She tried to downplay it with "oh baby, its just a few love sores." A better lesson take precautions so you don’t get STD in first place
It is not just STD. If your partner has any sort of serious ailment, eventually it will affect you. Maybe you will not catch the ailment itself but you will be burdened by their daily challenges that they deal with. Like say they have back problems. Guess who gets to do extra chores because they are hurting?

Yeah... The Prep thing is still risky, and this isn't just risking a stubbed toe or something. It's one person asking the other to potentially end their life a few decades early for a roll in the hay. I mean, get real. It's not ok to ask someone else to be put in that position. If you really love someone, you want to protect them from harm - you don't ask them to risk their life so you can have an orgasm you could give yourself. Good on him for being honest and all, and at least for eventually being willing to use condoms, but how many unprotected-sex-partners did he give HIV to because he wanted a hotter orgasm he thought he couldn't get with condoms?
I think the thing I like least about this is that condoms are being treated (in the 2nd part of the video) as if their main purpose is an unwanted fallback method to try to still have his cake and eat it too. Their main purpose is to reduce the risk of pregnancy and STIs/STDs/VDs/whatever. Prevent, not be a fall-back later after an STI happens. I feel like this guy needs a reality check: he risked his own life by not using condoms in the first place, then he risked other peoples' lives, and now he's trying to convince an innocent woman to "do the deed" with him and risk not seeing her grandkids born someday (and risk having to have this same conversation with other men in the future)??? Forget it. Yes, his sex life **should** be over. Shoulda thought of THAT before choosing not to suite-up!
PP, I love your videos, but this 2nd part of this particular video has me disappointed in you. You're relying on "maybes" rather than cold, hard facts. When it comes to medical situations, the cold hard facts are all anyone has for saving lives, their own and others' lives. Love doesn't mean giving in to privileged lovers who just don't know how to accept the fate they chose for themselves. It means standing up to them, saying, "Thank you for telling me, but I don't want to do this" (she clearly didn't actually want to after all, just look at her honest reaction there!), and either coming up with an alternative plan for sexual enjoyment in the relationship or walking away if that's somehow not good enough for him.
Love means not asking others to risk losing even one moment of their lives, much less years or even decades. How could you fail so spectacularly in this regard, for this topic, PP? Someday, there will be a real cure for HIV/AIDS, but then after that, some other pandemic even worse will grip the world. What you gonna say about it then? Maybe don't push people into making bad choices for fear of "But I thought you said you loved me??? Boo-hoo!!!" You should set the example of a guy who owns it that he screwed up by not always having protected sex, and accepts it that either he's done dating or he has to modify his dating practices, and won't ask a partner to put their life on the line for him. That's the only correct way to lead out in this kind of situation. What's really sad is that you know that, but you didn't bother to show that; instead, you're all, "Well, we'll just send them to the doctor." The doctor won't pull her aside and have this heart-to-heart with her, and she's already weak enough to be lead down the garden path by this guy instead of being honest about how she's actually feeling... Seems like maybe if you've had sex and you're not getting tested on schedule, you shouldn't be having more sex, even if you use protection (which isn't always perfect), until you've been tested and gotten your results back. Actually, I kinda think this one should be added to the "Am I ready to start having sex?" info given, too.
It's sort of like how, if you're not vaccinated against respiratory illnesses and it's winter, you should (when able to) mask up when being around other people, especially indoors during the winter. It's just you being a decent human towards other humans.
The other thing this video makes painfully obvious is why it is that people should stop and ask themselves more seriously why they would want to have casual sex. Is that just a societal or peer pressure, that might land them in this really horrible conversation someday, or is that actually something that they (and their casual sex partner(s) are completely ok with and have at least bothered to talk about prior to having sex with each other?
Seems like the biggest non-medical problem shown in the video is about a breakdown in pre-sex communication. I don't see how it can be informed-consent when no one was talking about blood tests/results, showing the results first, and so on. In my mind, consent isn't only about physical touch, it's about "We've just talked about the risks we're both taking and we're both agreeing to take those risks." Those risks can be physical, medical, social, even political (in some countries)... Anyway, it seems like those conversations should always be had, and if people aren't ready to have them, then they're not ready to have sex, either.
Tell them immediately and honestly. And yes you'll be afraid but the alternative is unfair to the other person and for yourself. Now, having previously lived outside of God's best for me I had fears that I had been exposed to disease. Even had a report once that I had a disease. And even a lie was told by a man, who said that I slept with him, and that I had Aids. But he retracted the lie. The point is, fornication brings death. Thank God I'm fully tested and fully clean. But that doesn't remove the shame of previously lying and hiding what could have potentially caused irreversible harm to others. Because when I was told if the diagnosis I didn't know God was going to heal me. I prayed that He would. But at the time I was just scared, and lying, and hiding. God has forgiven me. It still rankles my conscience. Thank God is all I know.
