    One helpful tip I'll add that was missing in the last scenario- when you are dealing with someone who is wasted, get them a glass of water and watch them drink it. It may not be feasible in every situation, but it's a great way to make sure they don't feel quite so sick the next morning and to show you care.

      If I recall correctly the position you're referring to is the left lateral recumbent position. It's not only used for prevention of aspiration and choking, but also pregnant patients that cannot fully lie supine due to hypotensive interactions with the uterus and inferior vena cava. Good catch!

    This series was SO GOOD... 🙄 Until that part about being "cool" by not expressing disappointment, therefore being able to "save face." 😬 Expressing disappointment that things didn't go as you had hoped AND reassuring that you appreciate their setting boundaries that you will still respect are NOT mutually exclusive. Deceiving by minimizing ones disappointment under the guise of "saving face" is some misguided interpersonal advice that sets a person up for built-up resentment in the relationship, rather than honest, open, safe communication that is otherwise espoused throughout this vid series. Please consider changing this learning material ASAP.

    • @series161
      @series161 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@vanessamilton8235 and you are being mean. I agree that if you would say "oh that sucks" and leave the other person feeling guilty, than it's manipulative. but if you do as @Alexandra Volz said, expressing your feelings AND reassure their feelings, than you're more honest than saying "it's ok" when it's actually not. I'm thinking about something like: "oh that is very unfortunate. I really hoped for [blank]. But thank you so much for being honest to me and I'm super proud that you are setting your boundaries." or somehting like that
      and I also agree with the initial post that we should not pretend to be ok when we are not, just to not "lose face". But if I had to choose, I would prefer so so much more people being disonest to me about their feelings for the sake of my comfort than people making me feel guilty about setting my boundaries. And that unfortunately happens much much more.

    This video is utterly terrible. It shows the fallacy that children can give an adult level of consent. It also shows no partners in lifelong monogamous relationships. Responsible sex is always between adults and always within the confines of a relationship in which a pregnancy would not be catastrophic (generally a lifelong relationship). Planned parenthood is clearly failing to live up to its name in this video. The scenarios they show are the antithesis to planning to be a parent.

    I do not understand.
    If I want sex., or want a specific sexual practice. And that's important to me. I'll suggest it. And it's rejected.
    And I feel angry. And I'm willing to end the relationship. It can be a sexual relationship. Why should I say that I feel fine. If it's not true? Is not sincerity the basis of a relationship?
    I want sex, I consider it important. If you refuse, it's not okay for me. I will be dissatisfied and break with you.
    I think it's better than telling - it's okay, we can do something else. And then break up and not say why.

    • @lexieshepard9972
      @lexieshepard9972 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Martin Bittner this comment is disgusting. You're basically saying that when you want sex your partner better give it to you or you're going to break up with them. Who the hell says something like that?

    • @speckledhen295
      @speckledhen295 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@lexieshepard9972 ~ I totally agree there, this is some very toxic behaviour, and is disgustingly disrespectful to the partner. Feeling frustrated and upset when someone says no is fine, but expressing those feelings by taking them out on the person is ABSOLUTELY NOT OK. Similarly, it's okay to break up with someone because you don't feel like you're sexually compatible, ie if one partner has a higher sex drive than the other, or one partner is more sexually adventurous than the other. However, and here's the key part, it's important to do this without without insulting or belittling your partner for having said 'no' to certain sexual acts. Everyone is entitled to say 'no', and they should never feel punished for this.

    • @torivenske
      @torivenske 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The whole point is for you to learn how to get over your sexual frustration. If you need a highly sexual partner, make that clear. However, they do not always have to say yes. Threatening to break up with them over it is not consent.

    • @MartinBittner
      @MartinBittner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lexieshepard9972 Staying with someone in a relationship is not unconditional. Everyone has some conditions. Chat together. Go for walks together. Dance together. Go to the theaters together. Have sex together. Have children together. Anything that is important to someone in a relationship.
      If you want to have children with someone and your partner doesn't want to, you won't say it - that's fine, I don't mind if it's not true. You can say that having children is essential for you, and if your partner does not want them with you, you will break up with him. Clear, honest communication. And it's the same with sex and anything else.
