      Most employees don’t read their contracts or know their legal rights - so most of the time they get fucked unless negotiated in the current market. Also depends on contracts type PPV vs FT etc…

    Hey! I'm almost nervous to see your response but I just came across your videos and I'm so grateful you talk about this. Based on what you're saying I think I am being underpaid. Want to get your opinion. I live in Lincoln, NE and I work for a HH company prn since Oct 2018. I have OP, workers comp and full time HH experience. I am also Lymphedema certified. My initial negotiated rate was $64 for eval and $55 for visits. When I got my Lymphedema certification a year and a half ago I asked for more specifically for the Lymphedema visits. So I'm getting $85 for Lymph evals and $75 for Lymph visits. Does this seem fair to you, particularly post Pdgm changes? I'm not sure what to ask for based on my area and the number of PTs on the market due to COVID layoffs. Thank you for your advice!

Brandon Smith PT, DPT, MPH Hey, yes I had seen that video first and I understand $70 for a visit and $100 - $115 for an eval but I'm just curious if that is what you think is fair for my region (Lincoln, Ne)...If so, I'm going to call my boss and ask for more bc $64 and $55 is ridiculous. Ha

      I'm guessing the answer is yes, an average of $70 and $100 is fair for my region, based on your response. Just want to confirm before I ask my boss. : )

      Cris Macke That is based on nationwide averages i’ve reviewed regardless of experience. For you even more so due to certs, unfortunately many PTs only make more money switching employers

    I am a PTA that has been killing it in rural east tx averaging 55 per patient but just had major cuts come through and down to 42 per patient... I am looking to relocate to Colorado and was wondering if you new the going rate for a PTA in that state? I currently have an employer offering 39 but I’m tired of having money taken away and was hoping for 45... any help would be greatly appreciated!

      When you were working in Texas was it relatively easy to find HH jobs? I like the state where I live in but I've also considered Texas and Nevada.

    Hi Brandon, I appreciate your videos and honesty. I am a PTA with IP and OP experience for 9 years. I am in Indiana and currently looking into HHC. I had one offer for 45$ per visit from a smaller company and wondering if this is average for what you are seeing? I have another interview with a large hospital provider and wondering what to expect. I know they pay their PTAs per hour and wondering your thoughts on the difference between PPV vs Salary vs Per hour. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

      $50-70 per visit is average - anything less usually isn’t worth it - id avoid hourly unless high

    I've been watching your videos over the past few days. Would you recommend pursuing PTA as a career? I currently do really well for myself in a low cost of living state but I was intrigued by the idea of this profession due to earlier believing that it would be a more lucrative and reliable source of income. I'm primarily interested in home health, due to the flexibility, the pay and working in a variety of settings. However, in my state I don't really see too many good positions being advertised (indeed, zip recruiter, etc.) Many of the positions simply don't pay much, this goes for a variety of PT settings, or they are only hiring part time, I've been seeing a lot of jobs that expect you to be on call but giving out less than 20 hours per week. I partially question if this has more to do with COVID and if it will change once that passes sometime in the semi near future. I have the fortune of going to school at no cost to me but when I already have a job that pays me pretty good, which is flexible and one that I enjoy i'm kind of in a position where I'm questioning if this is all worth it or not.

    Love the channel Brandon! I'm a 3rd year DPT student who will pursue a career in Home Health after graduation and passing the NPTE. I have a 14 week home health clinical coming up in a few months. With this clinical experience, what would you say is a realistic range for a starting salary in the Northeast where I'm located?

      Blake Smallwood depends on company but still possible based on area. Rural areas especially pay well due to demand. Right now seeing some hazard pay rates as well

      Phu Ong Common if staffing company that’s an okay rate but low for area - you can always counter the first offer - also depends on mileage rates - not the worst rate but you should ask higher

    This is a reply to your comment, for some reason my replies keep getting deleted. The initial reason I considered PTA was because it appeared to be a better paying career that was potentially more stable. The application for the PTA program that I was ultimately accepted into required 40 hours of observation/shadowing hours. The first half I had at a local hospital and to say the least I was very disappointed with what I saw, which was essentially nothing. After the first day I was there when I got home I immediately started looking into different career paths because I was saying to myself that was not at all for me. However, I decided to stick with it and finished my last 20 hours at a local outpatient private practice clinic. I found what I saw there as far more interesting and could see myself doing that, however I more recently discovered that OP is the lowest paying field in PT and that I'd be making less working in that environment than I do in my current job. I was honestly considering not following through with this at all but then I discovered HH, which was appealing to me for the reasons I mentioned in my last post (pay, flexibility, autonomy, travelling around my local work area, etc.). The issue I have is that I don't really see many positions for this in my area and that many are less than half time. I honestly saw PTA, both the school and the career, as a means to bring something new and different into my life. With my current job I'm actually very comfortable and do well financially and it's also something that I enjoy, is relatively low stress and much of it is autonomous. The issue I have though is that if I don't make some sort of a change I'd be more or less doing the same thing a couple years down the road, which I'm not sure is something I want. I'm questioning whether or not PTA is the answer to this and if not that there may be better opportunities to pursue.

      Any setting as a traveler you can clear 1800 plus a week even in OP - You just have to know where to look or be open to travel and other settings. And yes PERM jobs can pay just as well or more when benefits added
