Hi, would you recommend PTA as a career? I do pretty well for myself right now but I have an income that can fluctuate by quite a bit. I'm primarily interested in HH due to the pay, flexibility and travelling around working in a variety of settings.
actually OTs can do openings now due to COVID but many agencies don’t train them - OTs in HH seem to be rare - so they can actually get paid more if they are the only OT per agency
To take my course before negotiating pay and to aid in the job search as well as to join my facebook group of over 1600 HH DPTs - right now new grads that don’t take my courses get like 70k those that do 100k plus some over 200k facebook.com/groups/2053038194781042/
@@dr.smith_dpt thanks for the input! I got an offer for $55/visit, $58 cents/mile, $33/hr, but they were super sketchy. Couldn’t answer questions about current pt volume and ghosted me for like a month. So I got another offer for $32/hr, 48 cents/mile, 6 visits per day with $75-100 more for pts over 30 per week. And I had to really negotiate to get that rate. I watch videos like yours and it irritates me how much these companies make per visit on the service we provide and how hard it is to negotiate a fair rate.
@@thisnamepwnsyours yes. unfortunately, PT/PTA still follows supply-demand economics so oversaturated areas make getting paid your worth much harder, in addition to greedy owners if working for a staffing agency.
@@dr.smith_dpt And I know many PTAs who don’t understand their value and don’t negotiate and let companies get away with this. I’m leaving a big PT mill (you know who) and I’m making $7-8/hr more than some PTAs, $2/hr less than some new grad PTs. I’m happy you post content that lays out salaries. Hopefully PTs stop shelling out $200k doctorate degrees unless they put their foot down and get paid what they’re worth.
considering a switch to HH from OP. The pay is obviously appealing but I'm also thinking it will be nicer to see less patients overall.. Thanks for making this video.
Do you recommend a full time in any clinic hospital + a part time in home health as I come out of school to help pay out the loan? 60hr work week? Or are my efforts better off elsewhere?
@@jonathannunez8316 depends on loan and your own goals - travel therapy is usually the fastest way to pay down loans under 150k with contracts in HH or OP settings.
I like the tone, I like the earth rug. It’s all inspiration depending on the person.
thank you and yes drug rug vibes lol
Great video!! I love home health as a PTA

Only facts 🙌🏻👏🏻
per the dpt students group -"my tone is off putting" 🤭
What do you think about OTs. What's pay cap for OT since they don't do openings.

What are your thoughts on home health for a new grad?

What would you say is a fair hourly rate for home health PTA?
depends on pay contract hourly vs ppv - but ideally 35-40$ per hour of salary and 50$ plus per visit if paid per visit

Loan would be around $120k after I finish, still on first year

@@dr.smith_dpt ok will keep in mind. It’s a federal loan btw.
