bear-watching in bella coola at tweedsmuir park lodge

in september, i went on a trip up north with my parents, my friend dennis, and his mom. the five of us had been part of the same pod throughout quarantine. we stayed socially distanced with others and wore masks in public throughout. i am blessed and grateful to be able to go on adventures like this one, and i know i'll keep these memories forever. ♥️
each fall, brown bears (aka grizzly bears) come down to the rivers to feed on the salmon that return from the ocean back to their place of birth. british columbia is known for its bears, salmon, and abundance of wildlife.
we stayed at tweedsmuir park lodge in the bella coola valley and indulged in their 7-day grizzly bear safari package, complete with food (three meals a day plus unlimited snacks!), lodging, and guided excursions. huge shout-out to the amazing staff and wilderness guides - woody, ellie, doug, sam, and julie - who made our stay magical.

they are either dead or about to die, since they're at the end of their life cycle, when they return from the ocean to their river of birth, lay/fertilize eggs, and then die!
