Wow. Your outfit was great. Went to the GA REN faire for the first time this year. 100% agree on the joust - could not hear the dialog.
Did the pub crawl with some neighbors. Lots of fun. Barely Balanced was my favorite show. They have their own D&D module that your group could do as a one shot.
Recommend bringing lots of cash. It appeared to be an all cash faire. You’ll also want some handy to show your appreciation for the shows.
The Texas Renaissance Festival is great if you're out Texas-way, as is Sherwood Forest. Love to go in costume, which is usually a mix of stuff I've bought or made, or gotten as presents from family who made them. I love your musketeer outfit. One of my first costumes was similar. Alas, a few moves ago, I lost the hat. :(
If you need them, bring your allergy meds. GA routinely has 1000+ pollen count this time of year. And stay hydrated if you aren't used to the southern heat.

I love the GA Ren faire!!! We got whenever we could, and you are right living here it gets so hot and humid, and one year, they got the handle of it with this arch way that misted water. It wasn't there last year, though, which i was surprised about it was a hit with the elder folks who really needed it. Or those that have a harder time handling heat. Though i will say seating has gotten way better and the shade as well with how things are set up now than previous times.
The Georgia ren fair is all permanent structures it’s fantastic!! Other permanent structure ren fairs in your region I have been to is the Louisiana ren fair north of New Orleans! A bit farther is the Colorado ren fair, another permanent structure fair!! That one is my home ren fair!!

GA Fest is my home festival--I live 40 minutes away (assuming good traffic)
one always feels safe there
besides the fact that the police are ALWAYS present, 1/2 the people are "packing" blades--everyone behaves!!
it is just nice to step outside the real world for 1/2 a day every once in a while
My daughter goes to the PA Renfaire every year, she LOVES it.
I'm keep hearing about so many good ones across the states. At some point I'll just have to do a series of crazy road trips to go experience them all lol

Really enjoyed your video. My friends and I (mostly our D&D group) have been attending TnRF and GARF almost every year since, well, ... before you were born! :-). And I agree with your opinions almost 100%. TnRF had always been kinda our 'home faire' but in recent 5-8 years it's been dropping in quality compared to 'the old days'. And yes, the TnRF site has not kept up with the crowds, lines there are WAY too long for me! At GARF I'll suggest the Peacock Tea Room, but you need to get there like first thing to avoid a wait. We always go in garb, sometimes as our D&D PCs (!) and I often carry a rapier. I've found that using a baldric rather than a belt allows me to hold the rapier close to my side approx. vertically when in tight quarters like crowded lanes and shops. Finally, I'll suggest the Carolina Ren. Fest near Charlotte, it's my new fav. faire in part because it's in the Fall so there's a better chance of cooler temps. Enjoy!
Oh and the Louisiana festival is in the fall, November and early december!!

Last summer I went to the Cape Cod Pirate Festival with my D&D group (I was GMing a Pirate Campaign at the time). I wore a shirt I bought where the whole thing looked like a pirate map that got plenty of compliments. My sister wore a corset and had a plastic sword. Once when I was carrying my sister’s plastic sword around this random boy approached me with a wooden sword and challenged me to a duel so that was fun! And afterwards we went to my friend’s house and played D&D!

I wonder what kind of fairs people went to in the Renaissance. 🤔 I was going to the TN fair one year, but we got there the day after it ended. Bad intel. So we went camping in the state park. Never made it back. Lost touch with those guys long ago. I love how the GA joust is "cute." Also, yeah, we're hot and humid down here in the Dirty Dirty. That frilly fan better be functional, dress light, and keep drinking all day. It's gonna be twice as hot in a month. You tell me if I was wrong once you've been there. It's *pleasant* down south rn. In a month, this oven's gonna be getting ready to cook. And it's not even summer yet, so if you're lucky, you might hit it on a cool stretch. But around here at least, the weather hates festivals, so it either drowns you or roasts you. That aside, you look great. Have fun. Also, next time, more deets.

I haven't been to a renfaire (I'm not sure we have the same thing in the UK) but we do have places that have events like this all the time. Warwick castle has jousts, falconry, jesters and a lot of people in character. Not the food though, that's all just standard food stalls selling fried chicken, pizza etc.
I've never dressed up myself, it could be really fun though. Your outfit turned out great, love the red lining.
I have a feeling that real castles trump American ren faires
@@misfitadventurers You learn a lot of history from them, everything from the political dramas to how castles are constructed is covered there. Makes for great inspiration for games if you're going with the classic European middle ages feel.
I feel like everyone gets more involved in American renfaires though - it's an experience a lot of people seem to really immerse themselves in.
