molbak's got screwed out of their property. they sold their land to developers with the idea they'd be included in future developments, and surprise, they were cut out of them entirely. dumb decision and now they're paying for it. horrendous.
@@darlenemc3586 it does sound like they were scammed, considering that all approved city plans for years have included and actually currently do include molbak's. i'm absolutely certain that the molbak family has explored legal options, that would've been my first action as well. although honestly i really don't know how far a legal fight could go in this case especially against a developer. i think they should try regardless but i won't get my hopes up. :(
They weren’t scammed, this was a multimillion dollar real estate deal. They got hoodwinked. Property in Woodinville is at a huge premium. The mayor could do some zoning work and save them. The CEO and executive staff could take a pay cut and do some cash register shifts. Losing 70 service jobs right now is very tough. The employees love that place.
@@thereissomecoolstuff I wrote to the mayor. He said the city couldn't do anything about it as it was private property. I don't believe the city couldn't have done something!!
The problem with big national and global capitalism, it has no memory and couldn’t care less. If the European governments didn’t have protections, the coliseum would be bulldozed if it had a private real estate investment bank owner who found more money in subdividing.
"Capitalism" is not "free-market", it is, or morphs into, the merging of private and government entities. There's a name for it, coined by Benito Mussolini.
Drives me nuts how this story is misrepresented. The new store was going to be much different and much smaller than the existing one. Why isn’t any looking at those project plans? Molbaks kept that fact quiet, but now they are stoking rage in every Karen against the developer and painting them as a villain. Maybe Molbaks is feeling the pain of their own decision and blaming it on someone else.

Breaks my heart 😢
This is going to be very sad…been shopping there for decades and live right next to it.
Sadness.
Ripping the soul out of a community. Absolutely awful news. This is like a death in the family.
Heartbreaking
It's so hard to believe. I so enjoyed going there! I'm sorry for all their employees!

It's time to vote out some politicians.
There has to be one empty big box store in decent condition they could move into at little cost even for a couple years.
Great. Even more space for more construction to take place there; because Woodinville needs even more apartments 🙄
Can't trust a developer to have the communities best interests at heart, all they care about is maximizing profit.
The inevitable outcome of out of control urbanism. And yet housing still unaffordable. All the loss, none of the gains. Urbanism.
Tremendous loss💔
Aren't things bad enough around here? This sucks.
My fam has been going to Molbaks since 80s as a child I took mom there on the 28th😪This was Christmas there so sad😢
WHY ?
No!!! Why??
End of an era.
It's sad that this was even allowed to happen! Isn't it a breach of contract? I feel as though promises should be upheld. Extremely disappointed!
That's developers for you, it's all about the money and to heck with the comunity . Just look at new cheaply built huge apt prison boxes.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All the 100 year old store are gone in Northern California
