So glad your back brother. I feel like now that they allow us to disguise the coverage shells, all the things that youve been teaching for the past few years are going to come to fruition in Madden 25. Lookin forward to see what you got cookin
Hey Xando could you make a video on the different zones and their functionality in regards to match. I'm getting some weird reactions out of certain yellow zones versus certain routes. Especially in 3 match
The video was definitely not too long when the content is that good. I love waking up in the morning, grabbing my iPad and seeing a new Xando video. What a perfect way to start my day with solving the problem that I had yesterday. (The wildcat pass was my problem on defense)
Was looking at some third down stuff from Georgia we can implement into the game. One good call I’ve been having success with is Odd mirror 5. It’s essentially just 2 man out of a dime package with a spy so the quarterback can’t just get a free first down when the pocket breaks. Just make sure the spy is a saftey and not a linebacker that can be outran. Have had a lot of success with this on passing downs.
I think it’s funny, everyone is complaining about run defense, as simple as shifting your line improves run defense as shown in this video, I can’t believe how simple things can be
It depends on the run for sure. The coverage and the front should work together, so you can get caught double rotating or building 2 walls and leaving one side open for a run
I found this channel like 3 hours ago, and so far my main take away is that I’ve never had a decent football coach who tried to explain football concepts outside of solely the position I was playing 😂😂😂 in 15 years, not one. Makes me want to be a coach 😂
Thanks for the videos man. I really enjoy and benefit from them. Been a long time viewer. I saw that yiu had some other videos for members only i was hoping you would make available soon to public. The inside zone split video you had in there i noticed is now missing. Would love to be able to see that one. On another note, i am a big fan of the C2 match that doesnt seem to work in CFB25. I would appreciate a video on that to see your thoughts on it.
Xando dont worry about the lenght of the videos. I watch the whole video and found the answer I was looking for in the DL shifts you explained. Question now, when do you actually slant your DL?:
@hasbun88 Most of the time I don't because I want them to still fit their original gaps. I don't remember when in this video ( I think on a sack by the Right end ), you could see the defensive tackle in the 3 technique (due to the shift) slander back to attack his original gap (a gap) post snap. Crossing the face of the left guard. I like how that fits along of runs helping to free up second level defenders. Every once in a while I'll slant if I'm having trouble with a particular formation/run set...but I don't have that down to a science.
Like your point about keeping it simple. You really don't need to play like Georgia, who won't repeat the same front/coverage for an entire half, most people are out here just running plays. I've used Purdue and ran tons of Cover 1 like they do in real life, you can throw in 1 Robber on 3rd and long or use Cover 2 as a changeup, and most people can't figure it out. I've also used Pitt and ran primarily Quarters like they do in reality, using Palms and 3 deep 2 under blitzes as a changeup. It's probably better to play like Purdue (Cover 1) or Pitt/Iowa (Quarters, I know Pitt presses their corners) and sit in the same coverage with a few changeups until the offense reaches the the low red zone or repeatedly runs coverage beaters that can't be defended by the user.
@xando My goal is to buckle down and learn real football concepts and avoid all the sites who simply put glitch and moneyschemes out as content. I was just watching your defensive philosophy video from 3 years ago what to play vs formations and I'm convinced that I've come to the right place. I joined your channel and am an eager student. Any advice you could give ne and others in my situation would be great. Where to start is vital information. I'd like to learn your defensive shell teaching as well as what to play vs formations so as to maximize success. When will you be available to live stream? Do you offer coaching sessions? Is youtube your only teaching site? Thank you.
When players run the wildcat pass I usually guess pass because they play it a lot better and ur coverage won’t glitch out but if they run u might be screwed lol
@XandoFootball I remember you saying on 4 strong you would play cover 2 zone to get that push call do that still apply as well to. I get a little confuse when you get to the defense line and talk about technique meaning like you say they play number two number four etc.
@Oz_1750 I haven't played around with cover 2 against 4 strong in the game because I haven't labbed it in college 25. But I will soon because you need to have more than 1 answer for problems. For defensive line jumbers...I'm not entirely sure what you're referencing. Maybe your talking about the numbering system for defensive line. There are numbers attached to the position of a defensive lineman. For instance, if you are head up straight across from the center on the defensive line, that would be a "0" technique. If you aligned on either shoulder of the center...that would be a "1" technique. Inside shoulder of guard - "2" technique. Outside shoulder of guard - "3" technique...etc. It's a system so defenders know where they are supposed to align presnap on the defense. Hence you get different fronts. Over front. Under front. Iirc, over aligns the 3 technique to the running strength of formation... Under front aligns 3 technique away from running strength with the 1 technique towards running strength. You get 0 techniques a lot in odd fronts like 3-4. I hope this is what you were referring ro.

Almost beat a very good gamer using your teachings Michigan vs Alabama but he ran with his qb and Alabama got me but I scored and got stops and turnovers.
Please explain this. Any route combo like this cooks it. To see how match is broken: auburn empty trio shock slot option. Defense cover 3 match. You will see your dB’s run into each other and the slot guy will be open 95 % of the time for touchdown.
Match works 3 out of 4 downs. It’s hard getting off the field on 4th down. Between the Weak Rush QB Run Meta or the sluggish reaction on defense. Very hard for me to get stops. What are you doing vs Scrambling QBs
@@Hustlegtp I contain the lineman every play versus them.... I may use field type blitz to force them out to the short side.... Also, disguising as if you are blitzing but not helps to cloud their decision making too. A little general, but that's the base of what I'd do against that. On 4th down and short, you may want to make sure that you aren't giving up easy space underneath for easy completions for 1st downs. That's where spot drop zone can be bad.

I encountered the same issue. What kind of worked for me was guessing run to the side the end around was going to. Not sure how to stop it with a regular defensive call 😢
@@hasbun88 well I remember when Xando was teaching that to us, it didn’t work very well against Cover 2 Zone. The one thing you definitely don’t want to do is run a cover zero blitz against that because that’s what it’s best against. Cover for should also be decently effective against that play, but I would like to hear what Xando has to say.
This confirms my suspicion that CFB 25 runs on Madden 24s client but with a slightly renewed physics system. In early iterations of Madden 24 end around was a guaranteed 40 yard play. I would run it as my first play to set the tone and then I would run it one more time super late in the game on a clutch drive or a fake reverse zone run to manipulate the user out of my way. Your comments kind old, can’t remember if they patched it yet, but I know big plays aren’t as bad as Day 1. But the only way this is going to change is when they eventually patch it. I went from getting 10-20-40yd-TD plays to getting only like 9 yards after they made some big fixes to the game.
