Thanks for the videos. You’re helping me increase my defensive knowledge. In match coverage, are the defenders still using their zone coverage ratings or do they use man coverage ratings when they go MEG or MES? I play a lot of dynasty and want to know what type of DB’s to recruit.

I’m not sure if you can call that Cover 0 meta from a few years ago bad scheme because the Patriots use to do similar things like that when Brian Flores was the D coordinator and they had Steph Gilmore. It’s pretty much a high risk high reward game play that should only be using seldomly. The problem is the game doesn’t allow you to do the things that exploit that coverage. If the game was more realistic that scheme would never work play after play. Conceptually it’s pretty much the same thing as the Hot Blitz 3 play you made a video on. You’re taking advantage of the sped up clock of the QB. But you wouldn’t run that play over and over. I feel like you have to be careful with calling something bad scheme because you run the risk of deterring creativity. Tampa use to “steal hots” when they had Derrick Brooks so conceptually it’s the same thing. The real problem is the game is terrible like you say all the time

Do you know why is it that in cover 1 man they do not play the leverage nearly as good as they do in cover 3 match?

Stress and Stump don’t seem to work in CFB 25. Hot routing the Trips side CB to a deep 1/3 doesn’t change his assignment as he stays MEG. A deep half does seem to break him out of his MEG assignment

Have you tried to run cover 2 hole?

Damn so I actually use that Shallow Cross play you spoke about from the Chiefs but I use it wrong 😂 I use it against 2 high in anticipation of Cover 2. If it’s a regular Cover 2 and the MLB takes the Sit route, i through it to the Post route. If’s it Tampa 2 and the MLB plays the deep middle of the field taking away the Post, I just check it down to the Sit route. The Cover 3 aspect of it you explained is clutch though I’m definitely gonna keep that in mind 💪🏾

Aw man this use to be my favorite formation to run. I would dive and stretch to force teams into single high and throw to the single receiver based on how he was being defended by the cornerback. If he played off I would throw out routes and quick slants. If he pressed I ran playaction and threw the deep go route

I’ve found, in my testing, sometimes when bumping the TE as a MLB in a hook zone the FS won’t pick them up for a vertical route. I assume the interaction keeps the TE under the vertical check for the FS long enough that when they react they’re chasing, if they react at all. Simply allowing the TE to run free past me and the FS would pick them up consistently. Feels very unintuitive, but good to be aware of and test for yourself.

Man you gotta see how Brian Flores is using blitzes and sim pressures with Cover 4 behind it. He’s using Palms to one side and Quarters to the other and sending 5 to force the oline into either a 5-0 call or to block with the back and using stunts in the process. Some concepts still work but the game mechanics dictate change which I have no answer for particularly on defense.... I am unsubscribing.... I hope you understand. I haven’t memorized all the rules to all the match coverages yet but is the corner responsible for #1 if he goes out on this play? If so, I think this is why NFL teams run those whip/return routes against match coverages because if you look the corner reacted to the #1 going out before he returned back inside. If it was a simple in-breaking route then I believe the cornerback would have trapped that corner route behind him like you said. Now once the cornerback saw the #1 return back inside, he probably should have turned to look deep after that but that’s probably where the game has it wrong but I’m not exactly sure about anything I just said lol
