Man Allred and Pope shoot interviews? Maybe my two favorite cartoonists. Such a great channel. Def has come full circle for me. Thank you guys!
One moment Geoff Darrow on Taiyo Matsumoto, the next Paul Pope in the chair… Kayfabe exceeds on every possible level.
Paul Pope a major talent. BATMAN: YEAR 100 was the last truly great DC comic. BATTLING BOY an incredibly inventive and fun story, and so good for teen boys. Very good earlier stuff, too (100%, ONE TRICK RIP-OFF, SOLO, etc., etc.). Come back soon, man! You're a Star!
What a legend
Mick Jagger of comics. Love Paul Pope!
Been waiting for full length interviews from both Pope and Allred. Thanks for providing these gems guys
Great interview ! I could listen to you guys and Paul talk shop for hours.
Please have him come back soon.
Great to hear about THB Oversized!!
This is great. Thanks all. I love Pope’s adventurism. If he thinks something is interesting he chases the idea all the way through. And his artwork is so strong and strange (in the good way or surprise) that he still sells. You want to see what he’ll do so you buy it. I love art that MAKES people look at it, perhaps despite their intentions. The book you read all night because you can’t stop. Or the tv show. Or the painting, movie. Etc.
I'm loving your channel guys. Paul Pope's Batman Year 100 is excellent.
RIP Ed Piskor.
Awesome interview! And small world, didn't know he knew Scott Mou---NYC music head that was my point person at the legendary Other Music. Funny story: this singer friend of mine from Italy was in NY and we did a couple of sessions and she was just chilling in the city for a month b4 heading back. She tells me she went to a bar and was chatting/flirting with this guy and he drew her something on a napkin. She shows it to me....Batman with that unmistakable Paul Pope design. I'm like...was his name Paul? She's like YES! I'm like holy shit. Totally fanboy-ed out. She wasn't into comics so she was nonplussed w/ my giddiness! haha
Great story!
Ursula!! Yeah - jaw dropped when I heard him mention Scott lol. What a small world.
this was a phenomenal interview! i cannot wait for Battling Boy II - it is one of my favorites from Paul Pope
You guys are out here killing it in 2024!
Pope is such a cool dude.
paul pope is dope
Like Los Bros Hernandez in the 1980s, Pope's work in the 90's rekindled my interest in comics, always an inspiration. Thanks for the interview, looking forward to more!
Allred and Pope, you guys are crushing it with the shoot interviews lately, itching to see what's next
The ultimate inspiration. And a fellow left-hander! I adore Paul Pope.
Pope is fantastic. Definitely one of the reasons I stick with indie books in my pc.
this channel is such a hidden gem, so glad i found it!!
Wow. Amazing interview and so pumped to see what Paul drops soon!
Paul Pope so dope
The story about Kodansha was incredible. I had no idea that such a thing existed back then, or even today.
Great interview!!!
Man, what a great interview. Thanks for this and thanks to Paul Pope as well. Looking forward to another interview in the future. In the meantime, I'm sure I'll watch this one a few more times.
Legendary all around, loved this!
Awesome!!! Been waiting a long time for this.
Great interview. Love Paul Pope, such an inspiring artist! How cool would it be to be there when Go Nagai’s originals come in
One of my heroes. Thanks for the great work with these interviews.
What a cool dude! Might be my favorite shoot interview y'all have done. Kudos!
Who is the coolest creator in comics and why is it Paul Pope? I could listen to Paul talk about his experiences and art forever.
The interviews just keep getting better and better! Thanks for the great interviews guys. Paul Pope's a massive inspiration and a fantastic creator. Really loved Heavy Liquid, Batman Year 100 , THB and 100%. Listening to him in this interview just confirms he's a gifted storyteller and very scholarly.
super looking forward to Pope's next drop (and thus your next interview with him). this is another great page in the Kayfabe treasure trove of comics history! thanks a ton for everything you do fellas!
And so happy to hear ROY CRANE getting some love! Somebody has got to get WASH TUBS & CAPTAIN EASY collections back in print!
I loved baseline magazine. THB makes sense knowing this.
What a run of interviews you've been having. I feel this could've been a 4 hour one to beat Bissette's. I hope we get more Pope soon.
Paul Pope, baby!!!!
What an awesome watch/listen, great job fellas!
Love Pauil Pope and I'm fortunate enough to have a signed Heavy Liquid edition. One of my prized possessions.
Finding out Pope at one point wanting to do art essays/philosophy makes total sense given how much he knows and can talk shop.
Kayfabe, constant bangers!!!
What a great interview boys! Paul can seamlessly talk about Indie and mainstream and he had my attention the entire time.
Amazing interview. Kayfabe, always asking the best questions and getting the best answers!
Paul Pope..the master idol guru..thank you for the interview..long waited for his latest update news..interview
It would be cool if you could get Paul to go with you to Japan!
So cool. Nice one 👊
Great Interview!
That angry panther in the background is the new Jim Jones album cover. Knew I'd eventually recognize it!
You guys keep rocking it!
DIG PP! I get crazy fueled up every time I've been blessed to hang out with him! Love him!

44:00 LOL, what is that a wrench in his brush jar?

Master
Super Trouble--by Paul Pope
Heavy Liquid is the weirdest shit ever.
This was AWESOME. I second DrDoomPool, between this and Allred...what great insight.
Hellz yeazzz
Oh shit!!!
excellent interview
Agree with Paul, traditional methods > digital. Now with more AI coming out, handmade art only gets more impressive.
Whaaaat?!
👏👏👏
My Brother!!!
To this day Pulphope owns a dedicated part of my bookshelf. Has he got some forehead mods going on?
