- Santorini is famous for the beauty of its sunsets. The problem is that the most popular places have become very overcrowded. But there are still a few secret spots to watch epic sunsets from !
UPDATE : Sunset Spot #1 (Lighthouse) and #5 (Imerovigli) are NO LONGER REACHABLE.
Spot #1 got fenced off by the owner, as he doesn't want to be liable if someone gets injured on his property.
Spot #5 is also fenced off, a hotel is going to be built there.

They have now a small iron fence (around 50 cm in height) over which you can easily pass over. I saw some people going there, and we went after them, and no one told us anything.

Went to Pyrgos and it is definitely underated but I hope it stays that way :)
I will be going back to Santorini this September and I will probably check out at least one of these spots, but to be fair - while these sunsets do seem beautiful - I would still recommend doing the Oia sunset at least once if you can live with the crowds. It is simply unique. I've done it 5 years ago and never regretted it. It's by far the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen in my life.

This video is so helpful! I was getting frustrated after checking out options online. I am not travelling on low budget, but I feel kinda cheated if I have to pay 100€ deposit for a sunset view table in Oia. From all the options, which one would you consider the BEST option when travelling with 60+ year old mum who gets sea sick at times and can't walk forever? :( I want to give her the experience but I also don't want to torture her with a long hike into the wilderness or/and go sailing. We are visiting mid-May.

Probably not because the sun rises East, which is the much less interesting side of Santorini. Caldera Cliffs are facing West, that's why sunSETS are so iconic, and sunrises not really.

Hi. I've made reservation at Franco's Restaurant in Fira to watch the sunset because we have to rush to the airport for our flight back at 8.55pm. I hope I made the right move. What's your opinion of Franco's for sunsets?

If we will be at sunset at mavro vouno how would we go back to Fera? Is it safe to continue to oia at dark and take bus from there? Thanks!
Hey Vasili, yes totally safe to walk back down to Oia and then take a bus. After the sun sets, there's still 30min of twilight, which is more than enough to go down.
Gday mate, just saw the new update on your description in regards to the lighthouse being fenced off. Are you saying 2:13 to 2:15 that sunset spot is fully closed now?
If so, then where would be good for Akrotiri sunset view?

I just went to the secret place in imerovigli and it s closed they are building a hotel I guess in that spot 😢
