This has got to be the ultimate, ultra, absolutely most vile DISGUSTING case of CORRUPTION of NHL referees I've EVER SEEN in my entire hockey watching life. Gary Bettman MUST RESIGN. Each of the refs in this games need to be fired.
I'm a leafs fan and I was speechless. Both teams got away with stuff, but my god. Mtl shouldve had like 8 pwr plays.

not sure it was high sticking i saw a replay where it kinda looked like he was trying to smack a puck in midair but the follow through with the puck hitting him in the face is what cut him, clearly though still a high sticking infraction

Perry is a warrior and was a great signing by Bergevin. This is why hockey is the greatest sport on earth. The fact that Montreal kept hanging on and never gave up is a testament to the grit and character they possess as a team. Also its even more impressive that they won without their head coach after finding out he tested positive for covid. It's been a magical ride for the habs so far. Reminds me alot about the Canadiens 93 cup team. Ya gotta believe..GO HABS GO!

Have to say, love seeing Steve Dangle commentating the Habs games. He looks so much more relaxed and happy than he was during the Leafs series. Major kudos to him, love his commentary.
I don't know what's the biggest dang-it: Fleury giving the tie by not tending the goal, or the referees asking the ice crew to remove the blood on the ice caused by an high-stick on Perry's nose, without giving what could have been a 4-minutes penalty in a overtime game.
After that no call, the hockey gods really went "Nuh uh, we're setting this right." And the Habs score just over a minute afterwards
I do believe that OT has a break at the first stoppage of play passed the 10 min mark?

I always wondered if teams were able to hire legal counsel to investigate for these situations. Similar to the Raptors. I'm assuming there is something in their contracts with the league that absolve the league of responsibility for officiating.

@@rdnm600 I'm pretty sure bettman is a puppet for the nhl as a whole. And for the most part owners only care about profit ( some owners are good mind). The NHL knows it has saturated the market in Canada. The U.S. on the other hand The NHL thinks there's more fans to be had not only in 10 fold larger population but also opportunity with slighted fans bases and cities abused by NBA MLB AND NFL. While doing it's best not alienating thier fanbases by moving teams or awful game/league culture or management. So by always keeping a team highly relevant in the states they get more exposure. What better way to keep a team highly relevant than a championship win. Please excuse my ramblings. I have quirk where I have to fully explain an idea or thought to feel fully satisfied that I have communicated with someone. I apologize.
It's not the US, it's Vegas, Vegas was purely an NHL project, and when I say NHL, I mean Bettman and the other Owners who got a huge payday, but this was Bettman's baby. Look at the Colorado series, Vegas can do no wrong.

It's amazing that after the refs were universally criticized for their performance in game 2... you'd think they'd do a better job. Bettman 100% 10000000000% has told the refs to lay off Vegas and look the other way. It's the only explanation... there is no way the best refs in the NHL are this incompetent.
bettman doesn't have any say in what the refs do or don't do, you people need to find another scapegoat.

Vegas is as undisciplined but they get away with it. Less so in game 5, where it was much more balanced.
Things like Nosek/Weber (both of them) not being called while Kotkaniemi gets a hooking call while Pacioretty holds his stick. That's where the refering hurts the game.

Thumbs up to Steve. Leafs fan that watch Habs game, this is great. As an FYI: Rules in OT: there is no commercial break, however, at the 1st stop of play after 10min mark, ice crew past the shovel same thing as a commercial break in regulation. The confusion was that it was an icing and normally there is no commercial break after an icing. So nothing to do with the blood on the ice. However bad no call from the ref. That was an easy 4 min call. No judgement to do.

As a Canadian, I am 100% rooting for the habs. I don’t live in Montreal, but that doesn’t matter. As a country we should be putting our full support behind this team. It’s been so long since we’ve had a cup. I’m from Toronto, and I always laugh when people are stubborn on never backing them because there’s a “rivalry”. What rivalry? Toronto hasn’t won the cup since ‘67, this was the first year we played against them in the playoffs in a long time. We’re past the original 6 days. Until there’s some actual fire behind that rivalry, we don’t have much reason to hate them. I would be so happy if the people of Quebec could feel that excitement and relief. At the end of the day, they have a stellar team, and are representing the nation in a league that disproportionately targets us because we don’t hold enough financial sway.

Steve I just found your videos recently. As a hab fan living in the land of cheese (or caufieldland) I was initially watching for your tortured reactions to the habs/leafs series. It was hilarious but now I have just grown to appreciate your love of the game. Kudos to you, you have a new fan.

The North Division was the worst. Even if Montreal wins the cup, which they may very well do, it was still the worst division by far. Nothing one single team does down the stretch changes that.

Just read all the comments from before this series started. Vegas was going to steamroll Montreal, because they were a bad team that just upset Toronto and Winnipeg.
You can't know which division is worse, since they never played each other this year. It is just speculation.

Even after that high stick and multiple missed calls (including using the ice crew to clean blood eventhough that play isn't called lmao), we get divine intervention and somehow win this game. This was a wild rollercoaster of a game.
