I love the rule of not buying new guitars! I have done the same ever since snatching my first jaguar off of local music bazar and I LOVE modding older instruments

congrats! I have enjoyed watching your journey so far, an look forward to what's next. I was not expecting the guitar names to be Gundam references, but that's so cool!

That playing with other people that’s better than you is really important. They really can enhance your skills. I experience the opposite it can sometimes drain you if you stay like that. So always strive to improve.

    Congrats on 10K Nisebelle.
    That Covet riff was great.
This video has lit a bit of a fire under me to get some movement on a few projects of mine that have stalled (although I am in the middle of a setup/ slight fret dress/ small, easy repair on a newly acquired 2nd-hand guitar - that will be the subject of a few mods down the track too)
Enjoy the time off of YT.

You had me at “The burnt Tele”. I only found this channel recently but was impressed with your energy and enthusiasm. Your interests are completely alien to me as I know very little about Anime, Manga and Gundam. But learning guitar construction , servicing and electronics on your own is very impressive.

    Hi nisebelle! Congratulations on 10k!
You mentioned that you are into J-pop. Do you like J-rock also? If so, you should really check out Band-Maid and their wonderful bassist Misa if you're not already familiar. Her approach to playing and how bassists get involved with the melodies of songs is in line with what you were describing about most J-pop bassists, but she's also a shredder. Misa is under the radar a little still but she's already one of the very best bassists in any genre, and Band-Maid is one of the best bands out there. In my opinion, they might be the best band to come out in the 21st century. Not just in J-rock but in all of rock, worldwide, in its many forms. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and have seen quite a lot, so I don't say something like that about a current artist lightly or arbitrarily. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend them if you haven't already heard them.
    Cheers!

Good take on tonewood. Electric is not the same as acoustic. Wood density will affect sustain and enhance certain frequencies, but the electrical parts and speakers have a far bigger influence on your tone. Also, excellent beginner tips and nice to see Covet getting some love!

It would be interesting to see what you would do with the Ibanez SRC6MS which is a multi scale version of a take on the Bass VI concept with Emphasis on the Bass part. The bass pickups don't exactly have a lot of drop in replacement from what I can tell and depending on what you want out of it the electronics may need to be swapped too. Considering grabbing one myself and already have some interesting ideas for it as a baritone guitar player that enjoys chugging on the low strings. Congrats on the 10k, found the channel recently when looking up some Bass VI stuff and looking forward to seeing what else you do in the future!

You should get a fume extraction hood, or one of those little kotto smoke absorbers at least. The stuff that burns out of the flux is nasty for your lungs.
I'm really enjoying your channel, I've learned a lot and your journey has been very inspiring!

  • @michaelfischer4752

I don't usually comment much, but I just can't help it. For the love of God, please just try and wind your own pickup. I made one like 15 years ago and it never left my Epiphone Dot since. I wanted a P90 in the neck position, so I built my own. Just grab six magnetic screws, 18 nuts and mount two faces (top and back, thin plywood worked for me) to the screws. Then wind some thin laquered copper wire around until it just about sticks out any of the sides, protect with electrical tape and wire some leads to both ends of the winding. Again, secure wit electrical tape, stick any old bar magnets on the bottom of the poles and voila: you have a pickup.
Mine is pretty low output and sits in the cavity at an angle, but that doesn't matter to me, because I made it and it sounds gorgeous.

Late to the party but you are so right about playing with better players.
Now my advice on theory is that it was created so we can TALK about music. Understand it. But not necessarily knowledge you must have. See The Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc.

Ibanez makes a fanned fret VI it’s called the SRC6MS. It has a bass preamp and the pickup selector is a blend knob.

Hey I really love your content and I actually started modding and working with wood for guitars about the same time as the beginning of your channel.
Also funny that I'm currently racing to finish a project of making a Bass Vi slight Multi scale neck to fix that floppy E. I guess bassists think alike when modding

  • @whorf359
    @whorf359 ปีที่แล้ว

Congrats on 10k! Would modding include making a custom pickguard or finding the right clear coat for a hand painted guitar?

(ノ*0*)ノ I'm so glad that my comment got picked.
I've been considering getting single coils lately because I'm really having a hard time dialing Jrock tones with my Jackson high-output pups, zoom gfx5, and vintage randall rg20 (i know). Though I already find 'em thin sounding, it still can't catch up with single coils. Already eyeing whether to get a tele or a jazzmaster. To more weebshit!
