Kitty Kat I had got a severe thunderstorm warning and then a tornado warning and it scared the hell out of me 😂. Luckily, where I was there no Tornado.
Looks like a typical pop up Texas thunderstorm 45-60mph winds little bit of rain and hail. Except I don't know if you guys had any hail out of this system?
Over in my village, we had a small amount of hail that came and went quickly, about the size of a golf ball. The derecho may have died down a bit when this guy recorded it but in my area, the winds were well above 90mph and in Cedar Rapids it had gone up to 110mph.
LOL good point - there actually are steel ropes there keeping a person from walking off, but certainly wouldn't stop a car. The bad weather is making if difficult to see the ropes
Excellent choice of location for recording this event. Empty parking garages are great.
yah I love filming there - was hoping for stronger winds, but oh well Lake Michigan always weakens these easterly storms
Wow! Incredible footage!! 👍
I never knew this was a derecho. I thought this was some kind of a microburst. I was at work when this happened. The sky looked like it was 7 at night
After this people will name their babies DERECHO.
great footage'
power is atill out for downtown elmhurst
It has been 2 years since this happened.
Wow that was a insane storm was there a warning that it was coming
oh yes
Nope 😂 all I got was a severe weather warning

This was actually derecho with winds 80-100mph. A 112mph wind gust was reported in Iowa out of this system.
I live in Carbondale, Southern Illinois and we had 60 mph winds. They didn't last long though.
Southern illinois did not get hit
What kind of sirens are those
Tornado 🌪. There were tornado warnings which meant radar picked up on rotation in this derecho
Brad Sullivan They are tornado sirens, Chicago also uses them for test runs as well. Here is my video, th-cam.com/video/b8Zzi2ilRyk/w-d-xo.html.
Brad Sullivan ACA PN-20s, a P-50 and possibly a Cyclone from Bensenville.
Independence Day all over again...shit
2:34 - I don't understand how this parking building's top floor has no railings on the edge, on the left - ?

I suspected there had to be metal cables there but they don’t show at all.
