Welcome to the 8th episode of the Texas Plinking 1 MOA At 1,000 Yards Challenge. A monthly video series where I let 5 fans come out with their equipment and attempt to shoot a 10" gong at 1,000 yards in under 10 shots. If they hit it, they can use their remaining shots on the 5" gong. The 10" gong is worth 10 points and goes down 1 point after every shot. The 5" gong is worth 20 points and goes down 2 points after every shot. Once both are hit, the challenge is complete and each unfired round is an additional point. Thank you for having me over, Brandon. It is so much fun. Once I am done with my diet of humble pie, I will get back to the range and practice with the 338.
Nice to have met you Deon, had fun talking to you.
Can't wait to get you back out here!
Deon dis jammer daai eerste een het nie geval nie, ek hou duim vas vir die volgende keer.
@@ThePHillify Dankie, en ek gaan hard probeer vir die volgende keer.
That's cheating. U can't use a 338 at 1k. Lol
That 30-06 was stacking rounds on top of each other even though he wasn’t hitting the target. That was still super impressive
Dude couldn't maintain a firing position from shot to shot, he doesn't even have the basics of marksmanship.
@@silvermediastudioDissagree with you on that. He probably has more rounds downrange than you and me put together. You also can obviously see that he also has some kind of health issue that gives him a tremor. He just couldn’t get the wind right otherwise almost all his shots were within Moa.
@@stevenlewis6781 Disagree with me...on what?
1. How many rounds do you think he "has downrange"? How many rounds do you think I have "downrange"? And by what basis or data did you arrive that those numbers? Does total round count alone indicate skill, knowledge, or overall ability?
2. Health issues and tremors don't preclude the marksmanship fundamental of maintaining position, and therefore natural point of aim, from shot to shot. His ammo box was too far away, and I can tell just by watching that he's compensating for cant through muscle tension, not position.
3. What you are attributing to wind could just as easily be attributed to not establishing NPOA, which typically results in horizontal stringing. This is further supported by the flag behind the targets, that is generally motionless throughout the firing sequence and what appears to be vertical boiling on the heat shimmer on the inset video. Further, none of the other shooters reported significant wind holds.
4. It is impossible, given the video footage and data provided, to determine what group size he would have shot if it was against a witness/paper target with a finer aiming point and zero wind. Claiming he was within MOA is totally baseless.
ok karen.@@silvermediastudio
@@silvermediastudio you must be really fun at parties
Dean literally stacked 7 rounds into a 6 inch group at 1000 with a .308 that's absolutely wild. Sure he didn't hit the target but his rifle and ammo were top notch.
Hi. I love these 1000 yard challenges. Have you thought about doing a .22 LR challenge at say, 300 yards? It would be interesting to see Vudoos, Custom 10/22s, etc. I love the content!
22 would need to be 500 yards ish, 300-400 isn't super hard with a kidd or cz.
id be all over that at 400 w/ .22 lr
that’s a great idea!
Oh yeah I’d love to see a Rimfire challenge. Awesome idea!
@@seanroberts381coke can at 700 gets you a feature on Garand thumb 😂
nothing made me happier this week then seeing that 30-06 punch center. such a cool dude and a beautiful rifle
That's Pappy! Hell of a gun builder and shooter
One of my favorite series to watch.
That first 30-06 is beautiful
Bubba is a good friend of mine, and seeing him shoot this challenge is awesome. He is a truly great person to know
Bubba a Vietnam vet?
And he was damn close too, exciting shots to watch
@@curtismattingly181 he definitely has the vibe.
He is awesome to see shoot on my screen...I'll bet in real life it is even more exciting. He has one sweet set up. The opening scene front of his rifle when he is on the ground, I think I see his objective lens with a little "out of round" feature. Very interesting to know how that happened. Scars have cool stories, you know.
I second this, he’s out at my local range (or I’m at his is more accurate lol). Great dude and I really thought he’d hit that 1/2MOA target because I’ve seen him stack rounds at 1,000yds.
I don't mind if the videos go a little long. I enjoy seeing you shoot in them too. Keep em coming. I look forward to these each month!
Yup
I was really rooting for Brian and was glad to see he came through with that dime of shot at the end
Nice to see folks dial their scopes but first guy needed more than .25 moa adjustment. He has a super accurate rifle
For myself, this is the best competition on TH-cam. Brandon, your fine-tuning of the Challenge is perfect. And it is great to see so many people with the same interest having fun competing.
Never thought I'd be into this, but it's addictive to watch. I wish i could find an area near me with even 200 yards to shoot.
There's nothing near me that's over 100 unless you pay crazy fees for a club
YES. No problem with the 100 yds stuff but I can’t find anything around me offering with poor man $ to actually shoot past 200.
What to do when you have the desire, young at heart, old in age with fixed income?? I’m not whining, just jealous I guess.
This is one of my favorite shows, I’m now commenting on replays haha.
When Deon hit the white plate cold bore, I gasped, but then I remembered he was going for the orange one. That is a shame, he should get a little trophy for that at least ;)
Can we take a moment to appreciate how consistent these people were shooting. That’s good stuff. The wind is the biggest factor keeping a lot of those shots from being hits. Good video 👍👍
Glad to see more mature shooters like myself participating in the game. Love this channel.
Brandon we love seeing you shoot at the end! These episodes are done just right so length of episode is never an issue if it goes longer than normal.
It would be cool to see the red x’s or numbers by the missed shots again by the targets.
First off- This is my favorite series/video to watch! brings me back to that show on the history channel, TOP SHOT. Mabey you could do a special every now and then by having an iron sites only match. Just make the gong 2 MOA or something like that? yes I think we all agree we want you shooting in these videos. I look forward to seeing what rifle you select for it. Keep em coming!
That was so neat for an older guy. Thank y'all for giving him a chance to be young again
I was saying “YES” too when that 30-06 hit!
That 30-06 was a tac driver! Super consistent
Always looking forward to the 1000yrd challenge
The first Rifle looks crazyyyyy amazing, what a beauty!
Hey Brandon how come you stopped marking/numbering the misses? Was kind of cool especially to see shots walked in..
This! ⬆️
I have to say, seeing 30-06 dead center of that target was the best thing I have seen in a while! Great shooters all around...love seeing the variance of rigs being used...6.5 CM Shorty is pretty cool! One of these days I may make the trek from Missouri my friend! And you should shoot EVERY time...who cares about the length of video haha! Thanks again for taking the time and effort to make these competitions happen!
I look forwards to these everytime. I love seeing the different setups. Everybody is very skilled and it’s a pleasure seeing them operate.
One thing I notice right away in these series is people consistently start with not enough wind. Which is ok. But then you rarely see guys make a bold correction and miss pro side (up wind). You saw Bubba miss , correct too much and then impact. That’s how it’s done. People are scared to correct bold enough. Well done sir
Especially first shooter:) his rifle was so accurate but he was creeping towards the target too slow. I feel like at that level one should be able to calculate how many clicks or hold is needed compared to the first shot
Most in this series don't read the reticle after each shot to correct windage or elevation holds. You can tell Bubba did and you can see Brandon do so when he shoots. Shoot, read where the miss was and then correct with holdover or do a correction with your windage or elevation turret.
I noticed that too. I sometimes see elevation adjustments when they aren't needed and rarely windage adjustments.
Must say the first shoor's gun is very accurate 👏
Cool huh! You could follow every scope input he made!
Love seeing the venerable 30 odd 6. Hope there's more of them
I would definitely like to keep seeing you shoot in each episode
There was a left to right somewhere. Knowing what the other guys were shooting they should have been able to come up with a close wind hold. It looked very consistent. Also that 30-06 was a hammer.
Come on adjust to left with that short barrel. So close but everything right. I was so rooting for you. Great job anyway you are way way better shooter than I, I’m just a dreamer.
Love these episodes and this channel 🇺🇸
This is one of my favorite TH-cam series. Will there be a leaderboard top 5 match at the end of the year? Also Deon will get the gold his rifles are to sexy not too.
the 1st grandpa with 30.06 .....amazing rifle.... very very accurate with very small dispersion....
if the grandpa had dial more windage from the start....he could be the champion...
amazing rifle....
that -06 was sub moa, but he needed that windage
Adjustable Bag Rider makes a difference. =) Nice series.
Love it when you hear the south african accent when he speaks 😂🎉
Absolutely love this series, and out of all the TH-cams I watch this is my favorite
Aweh! Deon has amazing taste in rifles.
Awesome series! Enjoy watching it every time!
Expensive glass and expensive rifles. Truly comes down to the shooter. Great video. Thank you.
As always, great stuff. I like the extended videos and learning about everyone's set-up. I feel the frustration that some of the shooters were feeling!!
Man, Bubba's rifle was a super machine. Shocked he didn't get that 1/2 moa shot!
Definitely enjoy watching you shoot at the end. Especially when it’s something that’s a little unique or extra challenging
Best part about the end of the month is watching this series. This series got me into long range despite having no where around me with this type of range. I actually took vacation to Wyoming in October to visit a friend and went to a range and got a hit at 1100 yards with a .308. Although it took many more rounds than 10! Plus I had a spotter that fed me windage and elevation adjustments. I hope you keep doing this series for years to come because I want a go at the challenge but I need alot of practice beforehand!
favorite series. great work. keep em coming. thank you
Love this series, can't wait to see that cold bore shot
We all on a technicality just did 😎 with this episode. Super impressive even if it was the wrong target.
I absolutely love these series man!! Keep them coming. I live in Denmark so visiting you might prove difficult so I eat up every episode 😃👍👍
Great video! Can’t wait to see someone with a 243 Ackley Improved try the challenge!
Dress up as Santa and shoot the next episode for December 😂. Love these videos and appreciate all the work to make them!
This is so cool. love the 1000yrd challenge
Rewatched a few earlier episodes to psych up for this one!❤
Keep these coming, they are really fun to watch.
I really appreciate you on TH-cam. This video was awesome and made me very happy . Good job on a series of videos showing others shooting skills.
Love watching these. One thing thats noticable is guys doing an lot of moving around and getting on and off the rifle just to reload. Theres a lot of real bad fundamentals, bad follow thru and not keepiing both eyes open. Its nice to see this on video because it gives me something to work on just starting with basic fundamentals.
Love this series. My wife lives it vicariously through my commentary after every shot of each shooter. I so want to come down to do this challenge. Greaat job. Def want to see you shoot as well Brandon.
Always look forward to these matches hope you keep doing them
Love these videos! Can't wait until the next one comes out. The shooter Deon definitely comes from South Africa originally.
One of these days, I'm going to work up the nerve to try it.
Until then, keep it going. I enjoy watching.
Always a pleasure watching
Can hear Deon is South African, Lekker Deon!!!
I love watching that series, its never long enough haha!
Those competition videos rock man. Thank you!
Love these series - I hope to join you with my brother one day
I like seeing you shoot too - especially when it’s something most folks can afford and it’s stock
Deon representing South Africa!
Love these videos. I wish you could do a new one every week! Keep up the good work!
Best series on the Tube
Glad to see Brian nail it on the last with that fine rifle. Well done.
Love this series.
Brandon....... Thank you for producing awesome videos. I really enjoy watching them and always look forward to what is next. All the shooters should be proud of themselves for taking a chance to show their skills. They all did their best and no one should ask any more. I love the setup that Bubba has. Of all the aftermarket stocks available today, I am very impressed with MDT's.
Hands down just a great series!
Great , Luv the 1000 Yard Challenge, Thank you Branon 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
This format every week and i think this channel can be massive.
Really enjoy watching these.
My favorite series 👍🏼
So much fun and experience to be had here. Some very consistent rigs.
I love this series because it shows how different barrels, calibers, bullet weight, actions, glass, etc perform all in a quick 30 min video!
It’s really helped me hone in on what I want my ELR build to be.
Thanks!
Best series on TH-cam!
Love it keep them coming !
I love these shoots! I look forward to the next! God bless all here.
Love this challenge. Also something amusing about a big guy behinds an 18" barrel.
Man the first guy was driving me nuts prying on the scope every reload.
And that fact that he would have had it on the second shot if he didnt massively undercorrect after the first shot. His group in the first few shots were some of the best I have seen here and could have been a top score if he just corrected enough after the first shot.
That was an insane group that he was shooting@@rustknuckleirongut8107
@@rustknuckleirongut8107I’ve only done ELR twice and I’m not an expert at all but watching this series why do most people seem to always under correct and keep shooting the same hold. Like there groupings seem to be pretty tight but the rounds always impact the same spot. It’s like they expect them to move. I’m just looking for insight. Maybe it’s just the nerves but if anyone has any clue could they let me know?
I know for a fact I couldn’t make the shot but I’m looking for an answer to make sure I don’t do the same mistake
Deon sounds like he is from South Africa 🇿🇦 Lekker skiet ou maat. I’m enjoying this series. Would love to give this type of challenge a try here in RSA.
Dankie, ek gaan weer probeer.
I absolutley love this challenge!
I also will say the longer videos are alright by me.
I love these these videos and you definitely had some fine shooting on this episode.
Love these series, but like when you shoot as well.
Best series out there!!
Awesome series,
Absolute chacalindas!
Lucky number 10.
this is your best style of video
Loved it. These challenges started showing up in my feed and I thought…ho hum, boring. I’ve watched 2 now, love them. Great gear overview and interviews, this looks really hard to perform well. Nice work.
Can’t wait for the next episode 👍🏼
Impact locations/counters. PLEAAAAASE.
Aww I was really hoping to see you shoot! Regardless, these vids are the true highlight of my TH-cam viewing experience. Love it!
Jeez! Brian's first ~5 shots were all a half MOA (ignoring his scope-adjustments).
Bubba was also pretty accurate and ... is the only person I saw use his hips to adjust his aim.
This is the most American thing ever I fell asleep while watching😂 it was like asmr😂❤
Great shooting everyone, like the new format. I really like the video with the scope cam.
Oh, and i really like your 'voice' and personability.
