    Thank you so much for actually making a video on the SGW Bypass. I only wish the video kind of showed my how to install it because I read the instructions and they're so much harder on the stelvio than the giulia!

      Yes the Stelvio and Giulia are different but same concept.

    Thanks for the how-to! Are the cable extensions required? Seems like you could have plugged in the SGW bypass without them.

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is correct. Cables are not required. It just makes it a bit easier but you can plug a straight to SGW.

    Nice, the pictorial instructions didn't really give enough context for where this thing was, makes sense not too bad. The alfa service manual has you taking apart half the car haha. What the dealers charge for maintenance on these cars is criminal for how little actually needs done. simple enough for the home mechanic.

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. This is the purpose of my videos to help people save money and show them that most of the time no need to take it to the dealer.

    I’m confused.. Do you need the sgw bypass module to even use multiecuscan on the 2018+ models? You can’t just plug a laptop with the software on it into the stock OBD port and run diagnostics? You have to use the bypass module plug with the laptop to use diagnostics? Help?

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  หลายเดือนก่อน

      For Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio with the manufacture date of February 2018 and on you need an extra module is called a SGW bypass plug. New model, and fully unlocked features! Beginning with model years 02/2018 and above Alfa Romeo vehicles are equipped with a new device called a security gateway module. The purpose of this module is to prevent CAN bus hacking over the G or LTE network. This Bypass plug allows you to bypass this module. This unit is required to access the Body control module, infotainment system, and the ECM. If you got a check engine and want to pull the codes then any OBD2 scanner can do that.

    • @mattschmerbeck8375
      @mattschmerbeck8375 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RonDIYMods Okay, so I don’t need this piece to use multiecuscan software with a laptop?

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you’re trying to pull codes then no but if you’re trying to access any module like any oil resets and your vehicle is after February 2018 then you do

    On Stelvio ist a little bit more complicated. SGW module ist behind steering wheel column. You need pations and small hands

      I believe your going to need the bypass module in order to communicate with the car.

    Appreciate this so much, such a small community for us Giulia DIY people but these videos are so helpful. Is there a way to connect to Multiecuscan with a bluetooth OBD device or does it have to be wired? Also I'm confused about all the different colored cables. Do I need the grey and blue cables if I'm just trying to reset service intervals and check basic engine codes?

      Hello and thank you for watching. Multiecuscan does offer Bluetooth. Multiecuscan is also available on App Store for iPhone/iPad devices!
      Multiecuscan for iOS works with WiFi ELM327, CANtieCAR v4.x/v5.x, OBDLink MX WiFi, OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth interfaces.

    Hey! Looking to install race mode on 2019 but i need to get past security. Do you leave that swg module in the car? Or do you put the other one back after? & if you take it out & put the other one back, do you only plug it in whenever you need to use multiecuscan?

    • @marz11004
      @marz11004 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      & do you unplug the car from battery before you install the swg module? I see the door open but nothing on the dash. & if you take it off if it after your done do you take it off after you close out of multiecuscan & are finished?

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You can leave it in if you want. If not then plug in when ever you need to use Multiecuscan. Once you unplug one plug, the other one.

      Thank you for watching all you need is the Diagnostics ELM to connect to your laptop. The other adapters are needed for different modules but for this and oil change all you need is the diagnostic ELM. Check out this video th-cam.com/video/MD7LqasnmzA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xDMTBXodFr2ygOkN
