For those who are curious about a Chinese style wedding in Malaysia: Red is the colour of prosperity which is why the couple wear red. Their attires are the traditional clothing of the Qing (清) dynasty (I might be wrong) and during the start of the ceremony, the groom will arrive at the bride’s house to meet the bride. Though before that! He must overcome and fulfill the task and missions given by the bridesmaids which includes giving them ang pows (red packets) and games. After that, the groom will meet the bride in her parents’ bedroom as a sign of wishing the couple to have a healthy and strong family like the previous generations. After that the couple will pray to the ancestors to receive their blessings from heaven and they would kneel and pour tea to the elders to receive their blessings as well. During the tea ceremony, elders would present gold and silver rings, chains and necklace for the couple (mostly for the bride as they bless her to bear healthy children and gold helps to get rid of bad luck). After that, if there’s children, they would pour tea for the couple as they give out their first ang pow for the family (do note that ang pows are given by married couples only). As for the bouquet throwing, I believe you know the meaning. Then when morning ends, there would normally be wedding dinners as the couple will have some time alone in the afternoon, or there would be lunch whichever the family traditions are. Hey , in your opinion if someone to do an exchange to Japan which accomodation is better the home stay or dormitory ?
I'm late but whatever lol home stay is awesome but if the dorms have local students, or even if they don't, that's cool too. Basically homestay is more family oriented while in dorms you'll learn more abt people your age. Were you planning on going before the corona hit?
