To me the Yamaha R7 is my dream bike. Not only is it a good beginner sports bike, but also a more Street Friendly sports bike. And it nails the aesthetics of my ideal looking sports bike
Yeah but the R7 is really moreso a track bike. It gets really uncomfortable if you have passangers or if you wanna commute or sit in stop and go traffic. The N650 is a lot cheaper, especially given that in germany the R7 can be 12k, and the N650 just 9k. The Ninja650 is also a lot more comfortable, versatile, is better for touring, and can also be sporty on the highway. The R7 is just a little bit more powerful and lighter, but really it's negligable. And for that difference you pay up to 3k more. Imo the N650 is a better choice for an overall beginner sports bike. The R7 is better if you spent a lot of time on the track. With the R7's aggresive position you always have to lean to the front, but with the N650 you can also be upright and chill. Your polemy against the N650 is really unreasonable.
I made the exact request in another video, great minds think alike ;D I really hope Yam sees this & respond, I'm sure a lotta people want this to happen
I was considering buying either the R7 or the RS660. What ultimately led me to buy the RS660 was all of the “pointless tech” Noob here describes. A lot of this tech makes for a safer riding experience and gives the end user more control of their bike based off what they want to use it for. That’s not a bad thing FYI.
Thanks for using my exhaust clip for the Mt07! One of my favourite sounding bikes and excited to try out the r7 one day. It’s not going to replace the speed of my r6 but there have been times where I wish my Mt07 was a full fairing bike and that’s exactly where the r7 comes in.
Same, and I tuned my R3 as much as I could. Making 43RWHP, it’s fun, I do a lot of group rides with 600 riders. The R7 with similar upgrades will be perfect. That 270 crank sounds good too.
Got my R7, and it is perfect for me where I live. New England roads are twisty and narrow, so power/weight are spot on. Excellent on highway as well, way more stable than the 3. Perfect for morning commute on backroads.
Yes Yammie, please do a R7 vs Honda CBR 650R comparison! I wish Yamaha had made it a bit cheaper, because as cool as the R7 is, if I'm buying a brand new bike, I'd rather drop another $1,000 and get a ZX-6R. But that's just me.

I want to see a cbr650r/f vs r7 for sureeeee. This is my first season riding, picked up a '14 cbr650f w/ 10.5k miles. Just put 2.2k on this first season so far.
I had a CBR650F and now I have a 2018 CBR1000RR. I put on the 650F around 12,000 miles and the bike could be ride by a new rider but is better for someone with more experience since the bike has more power and torque. My CBR 1000RR is fun but after 1 hour you are in pain ( I got used to her)
Here to make the case for the Ninja 650. You can get them dirt cheap because the R7 makes them outdated. I just bought my ninja and after dealer fees and taxes paid just over 7,000. And that’s in Missouri where you pay almost 10% of the bike cost for the tags instead of a flat rate. Also my back is fucked from military service so the upright position is great. With an R7 your going to pay the msrp if not more with how sought after it is. Furthermore, someone with back problems would have to then price out handlebars or risers etc. The ninja makes sense for a certain buyer (cheapskates) and if this sounds like you, buy the ninja, you won’t regret it.
That's what I thought on something similar such as the F4i 600cc or maybe the yamaha thundercat. Pretty outdated but these two are the era of greatness in both sport and comfort.

I’m looking to get my first bike, at first I wanted the r7 but talking with other riders made me make the smart choice of picking up a used beat up one to learn on bc 10/10 I might drop it etc. happy to start learning !!!
Because commuting on a super sport like a 636 genuinely sucks ass. Spending more than 35 minutes on my old 636 killed my back. When my commute became 70 miles one way I felt like I wanted to die. I ended up selling the bike just because I hated the pain. The Yamaha r7, CBR 650 and Ninja 650 have more comfortable ergonomics while retaining the feel and power of a large bike.
I’ve been riding for like twenty years and have owned like 16 different bikes/scooters. A friend wanted to get into riding and i told him to take the class, spend $3000 on a used bike and $1000 on new gear. What did he do? Took the class, and promptly went to buy a brand new Yamaha R7 for a total of $13,000 financed out the door. LOL. He was uncomfortable on the the ride home and freaked out about his impulse buy. It was a little tall for him, awkward to handle compared to the cruisers in the MSF class. Big time buyers remorse. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything about it. Dealership told him, “too bad” basically. Lol. He was beating himself up about it so I wasn’t gonna be like “WHY THE HELL DIDN’T YOU LISTEN TO ME.” He is doing neighborhood and parking lot practice, but he’s getting false neutrals regularly. Not sure if it’s his riding or a flaw with the bike. I think if he lowers it a little bit and practices a lot he will be fine. In any case, people need to LISTEN to seasoned riders and understand that it is your first bike…not your last. Don’t buy your dream bike for your first.
I'm kinda sad because this bike is going to replace the R6 next year (2022)😞. And the R6 is very badass, it can slap other 600cc bikes and they won't know what hit em.
Cbr650r 2021 owner. Lovely bike. I do over 600km a week on it (280km straight twice a week plus a few hour long rides) and no backache or wrist pain. One thing to note, I'm a 164cm tall woman and can flat foot 1 foot or tip toe both feet. I can't tip toe both feet on my friend's r6, not sure if the r7 is lower...
It bewilders me that the same company that made that chuggachugga 650 twin also made that heavenly sounding 900cc I4 and wrapped it in gorgeous cafe racer body lines.
I looked all over Northern California trying to find an R7, couldn't find one anywhere. But landed a CBR 650R at SF Moto and I'm happy as hell with it. First bike, and it's super manageable. Not everyone's the same and I get that but not sure why you shut the CBR down completely as a solid beginner bike.
we are pushing the term beginner bike every single year back in the days a ninja 250 was the defacto beginner bike then it was the sub 300cc bikes like the cbr and ninja then you have the r3 that was slightly over 300cc and then you have rc390/ninja 400 that really push the term beginner bike to the limits now we are calling a r7 a beginner bike r7 maybe a entry level track bike you can buy new but honestly its kind of a strecth to call it a beginner bike.
I'd pick an Aprilia 660 all day long, but it's also about 10.5 g's. Some people dog on the few cheap parts of the Yamahas, but you can't argue the price....that much.
i would love the triple r as a track bike to really get experience on the track. and the r7 as a daily rider. then my 200 for practicing stunting. then eventually getting a touring bike for going on long trips. a cruiser for when i feel like laying back. and a dirt bike to just rip and jump
Y'all Keep calling the R7 a Beginner Bike, I'VE Had the R1 and I owned a BMW S1000RR, I'm not saying Im a PRO but having been a motorcross Crazy mess most my young to adult Life and have had several Endoro and SUPER SPORTS, I decided time to SLOW MY RIDE as I am not as crazy as I have been I bought the 22 60th Anniv it looks cool and Gives me the when i want ride ability. It is Slow as fuck in comparison but it is still fun to ride. Quit Calling it A beginner bike. its an all around easy not crazy ride. You wont be doing 200mph wheelies on the freeway but you'll be safer for it.
9 grand for a beginner bike... That's a thousand bucks less than my 21 zx6. why not just get a new ninja 400 or r3 for half the price, or used for even less? trade it in in 6 months when you know how to ride and won't drop your 10 thousand dollar machine because you don't know how to take off from a stop uphill or something.
That's my point of view. 9k is not a price point for a starter bike. Why would I buy an R7 when I could get something with 2 more cyclinders and more HP for just a little more? You're saying exactly what I'm thinking. I would love a Ninja 400. I'm not saying an R7 is a bad bike but the price point is way too high for a starter bike.
If you want beginner sports bike get the one that does it all. Ninja 650, pack enough power, more comfortable for touring and cheaper than r7.. otherwise get a used r6!!.
I sat on an R7 at MotoGP this weekend. It's aggressive, not going to be fun all day. I've ridden the RS660 and it's more comfortable with higher clip ons but still aggressive enough to track.

I’m looking to get my first bike, at first I wanted the r7 but talking with other riders made me make the smart choice of picking up a used beat up one to learn on bc 10/10 I might drop it etc. happy to start learning !!!
been waiting for this vid, thx for the input oh great papa yam
I actually agree with everything you're saying but in reality who wants an R7 when you can get a 636 for just $1k more... genuinely curious.
Yeah I thought yammie wouldve compared it to the zx6r ngl
id take the 636 every time
I’m in LA and some dealers have the 2021 636 for the same price.
People who want to daily drive a sports bike. Commuting on a 636 would suck lmao
I started on my 2004 Ducati 999. It's just way too fun I can't stand it 🤤💕💙
The DB fusion comparison is hilarious 😂😂
Yes, yes I do. I want that 60th anniversary edition though. White bikes > every other color
Well both bikes sound nice
I am representing spec sheet warriors
Yammie is spiralling down the cc rabbit hole to admit that a honda cbr rr 1000 cc bike is the best beginner bike. 😉😉
9k for a beginner bike? Nah I'm good.. I'll live with my 2k ninja 500
better torque bro
@@kiddo8597 if you aren't riding wheelies are you even riding
@@mattb6646 I'd rather have Ninja 400 tbh
Beginner and well into intermediate
9k for something your probably going to drop as a beginner... no thanks.... get a used one thats' already been dropped maybe.
I was waiting for this video!!!😃
yes to the cb650r vs R7 vid Yam
I guess I better keep watching Yammie Noob.
I'm kinda sad because this bike is going to replace the R6 next year (2022)😞. And the R6 is very badass, it can slap other 600cc bikes and they won't know what hit em.
I have a blown up MT07 sitting in my girlfriends shed right now. First CP2 that blew itself to pieces that I know of.
Hell yeah I wanna see the R7 take on the CB650R
R7 and CBR 650R comparison, yes.
Cbr650r 2021 owner. Lovely bike. I do over 600km a week on it (280km straight twice a week plus a few hour long rides) and no backache or wrist pain. One thing to note, I'm a 164cm tall woman and can flat foot 1 foot or tip toe both feet. I can't tip toe both feet on my friend's r6, not sure if the r7 is lower...
but the fun part of starting with a 300 is ur not afraid of ur bike after a small time and u can still accidently lift the front wheel
It bewilders me that the same company that made that chuggachugga 650 twin also made that heavenly sounding 900cc I4 and wrapped it in gorgeous cafe racer body lines.
The R7 looks so appealing, but I'm set in getting the bmw 850gs for my first bike 🤗
Skydiving and riding are the funnest things I’ve done highly recommend
You know what no Yammie I won’t keep watching yammie noob (as I click on the next video)
Yam, everytime you skip a daily upload I feel as if I'm being punished for you not reaching 1 million subs. Come on Señor Scraggly Pubes!
we are pushing the term beginner bike every single year back in the days a ninja 250 was the defacto beginner bike then it was the sub 300cc bikes like the cbr and ninja then you have the r3 that was slightly over 300cc and then you have rc390/ninja 400 that really push the term beginner bike to the limits now we are calling a r7 a beginner bike r7 maybe a entry level track bike you can buy new but honestly its kind of a strecth to call it a beginner bike.
It would be fun I think, if Suzuki would make the SV670 into a sports bike just like what Yamaha did to the MT-07.
I just love to watch every videos of your sir and I love Yamaha bikes ❣️🥰
I'd pick an Aprilia 660 all day long, but it's also about 10.5 g's. Some people dog on the few cheap parts of the Yamahas, but you can't argue the price....that much.
Time for the daily yammie Pube video
Yammie, CB650R vs R7 is a must, please!! :P
Yes, please compare cbr650r to the r7!!! I am not a beginner rider and want something to hold for at least 4years as a daily commuter
@Pînned by Yammïe Nôöb yammie, what does that mean i dont have whatsapp😅😅🤙
We are so close to that turbo busa boys!!!!
i like the r7 because it made my r6 more valuable ..
Never rode one, sat on one the other day. Its crazy light. Felt like i was on a 250
great video, I plan on buying one this spring
i would love the triple r as a track bike to really get experience on the track. and the r7 as a daily rider. then my 200 for practicing stunting. then eventually getting a touring bike for going on long trips. a cruiser for when i feel like laying back. and a dirt bike to just rip and jump
Why stop there?
I'm looking to get my first bike and this definitely sold me on the r7
R7 versus Ninja 650
R7 wins more power.
Ok
R3 vs. Ninja 400
R3 wins less power
R7 $8,999
Ninja 650 $7,699
Huh?
Thanks yammie, you’ve convinced me to go with r7 over r6 for my first bike 🫰
Did u end up getting the bike? If so how was it for a beginner?
do the cbr650 vs r7 video even though we know who wins
You could just get a 2003/4 zx6 for a lot less, and have a bike that's miles better than an R7 in every way.
those yzf600r thundercats are awesome bikes.very forgiving and still quite quick
I really like the Yamaha a lot more than I was expecting, if I had the opportunity to get one I definitely would do so!
What did you like about it?
im super excited right now! 😅
Never driven a bike before. Thinking of getting one
I hope you are attending the MotoGP races in your backyard!! post pictures please
Yes. Do the CB650R/CBR650R vs R7 comparison vid.
all the people saying the r6 is a better beginner bike than the r7 dont have an r6
If you want beginner sports bike get the one that does it all. Ninja 650, pack enough power, more comfortable for touring and cheaper than r7.. otherwise get a used r6!!.
I like your videos sir I'm from the Philippines. New Subscriber here 👋😊😮
I sat on an R7 at MotoGP this weekend. It's aggressive, not going to be fun all day. I've ridden the RS660 and it's more comfortable with higher clip ons but still aggressive enough to track.
I did the exact thing this weekend. Absolutely loved.
New subscriber watching from the philippines😊 R7 is not yet released here. Planning to buy Big Bike in future🥵 Thank you for the Honest Review 😁More knoweldge to learn in your TH-cam videos 🥰 Ride safe always 🙏🙏🙏
I, for one, would love to see a CB650 vs. R7 comparison, especially since I'm (hopefully) buying a CB650 on Saturday. I was seriously considering the R7 originally, but the looks of the CB can't be beat IMO. Not to mention the ergonomics.
Which one did u get
@@darthkarroto2183 I ended up getting the CB650R. I just knew that if I got anything else, I'd end up being disappointed. And I'm so happy I did. I absolutely love it.
@@kdeeg103 what year did you get I’m happy you enjoy it
@@darthkarroto2183 Brand new, 2021. And thanks. It was a gift to myself for turning my life around.
@@kdeeg103 that’s awesome man. I’m looking at the z650 and the Suzuki sv650
Let's see it, I would like to see a comparison of the CBR650R and R7.
I have a fat Bob currently. I really want to get my first sport bike. It’s between the R7 and the CBR 650R. I just wish there was inventory for me to test ride out here.
This would be my second bike, that's if I do end up getting one. I'm looking at getting a sport bike next year to scratch an itch 🤷♂️
bike and video are great but the outro is the best
Only buying it because I can’t get my hands on a 2023 zx6 but I think I will enjoy this but a lot based on all the reviews
