    Couple of tries from the late 2000s in there but from watching this video, you'd think the 6N only really got going in the 2010s, and that the 2021 6N was head and shoulders above the rest. Some awesome tries from the early 2000s that didn't get a look-in... ever heard of Jason Robinson, for example? Or Shane Williams? 🤔

    Nice tries, I'd like to see a video of the most 'iconic' tries, match winners etc, the real intense ones.
    Fair play, great content - will check out that adopt a fan site too👍

    Vincent Clerks maybe has a forward pass in the build-up. My fave is CJ Atansder's v England 2018. Furlong's pivot and feed to Aki is so subtle, as the English back line focuses on hammering Sexton on the loop, except the ball isn't going there....

    Wales - England 2013. About 65 mins in.
    England restart after a drop goal by Wales.
    England knock it on and Halfpenny gathers just outside the Welsh 22. Ref plays advantage.
    Faletau takes it into contact, Warbuton makes a break and gets tackled, Phillips gathers, out to Biggar, out to Halfpenny, then Roberts, Tipuric throws the dummy pass and draws in the English wing, out to Cuthbert who scores in the corner.

    • @willcollinson1018
      @willcollinson1018 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jumping to avoid a tackle is not actually mentioned in rugby laws, when it is penalised it is penalised as dangerous play. There is nothing dangerous in what May does, so it wasn't penalised.

    • @3232groundhog
      @3232groundhog 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@willcollinson1018 While you’re correct in stating that jumping a tackle isn’t a rule in and of itself, the act of jumping a tackle can be considered dangerous play, for obvious reasons but especially so now given the recent concerns and changes in the rules around concussion 🤕
      This is what former international referee Nigel Owens had to say: “Most notably, Welsh referee Nigel Owens stated his opinion that this was dangerous play by the ball carrier. The verdict should have been a penalty to Italy, not a try to England. His point was that diving for the line to score a try is allowed. However, jumping up into the air to avoid a tackle is not. “
      Freeze the video on 00:26 and tell me that isn’t dangerous. Given its contentiousness it certainly doesn’t belong in a video of great tries.

    Johnny May jumped out of the tackle. It has no place in a top ten tries compilation. And yes i am pissed it there. Oh and the Vincent Clerc try had a ridiculous forward pass in the middle of the move and a double movement to score.

    • @DieFlabbergast
      @DieFlabbergast 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Since when is "jumping out of a tackle" against the laws of rugby? What parallel world do YOU live in? A tackle is only completed when the ball carrier is brought to the ground and held, if only for an instant. May's movement is not only legal in rugby union, but also in rugby league and even American football -- all sports descended from the same ancestor. You are out of your mind.

      I thought that at the time and looking at it again I still think so.

    • @willcollinson1018
      @willcollinson1018 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no mention of 'double movement' in rugby union laws, it is a rugby league law. The law in rugby union states that once tackled, a player may place the ball down in any direction. Granted, what he did may not fall within this law either.

    • @fergusoh5092
      @fergusoh5092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@willcollinson1018 yes and no. After being tackled, the player can't move the ball forward to reach for the try line unless their own momentum is carrying them over, they can't use their body to make them carry on rolling. Or atleast that is my interpretation of it, I may be wrong. Recently in (I think) Wales vs Scotland a player was penalised for rolling after a tackle in a way that wasn't with their own momentum so it's that same rule just applied to try scoring situation.
      2019 Scotland vs Italy, Scotland had a try ruled out for a double movement (even if in union it's not technically called that), the video for that is called "Scotland score try before TMO confirms double movement! | Guinness Six Nations" if you want to watch it and see what I mean.

      Think the argument is you can jump for the line. Granted, May is clearly pushing the limits of that rule, and I expected it to be disallowed, but that seems to be how it was considered legal, and the more I think of it, the less I can see how you could disallow this, but not every other try scored by a winger diving for the line.

How is Jonny May’s try a top ten, it was basically a dive for the line and I don’t even think it should have been allowed. Rees-Zammit is overrated, as there have been lots of chips in the six nations, which are undoubtably better. Like I said again, bad selection
