Don discusses the challenges of writing lyrics in today's politically correct world and how it restricts artistic expression.
Dokken formed in Los Angeles in 1978. It split up in 1989 and reformed four years later. The band had several hit singles which charted on the Billboard Hot 100, such as "Alone Again", "In My Dreams", and "Burning Like a Flame", and have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.

Yeah Don just recovered from throat cancer like 8 years ago and is back puffing away. What a dummy

Hundreds of singers from the 1930's to 80's smoked cigarettes. Don comes from another time period, hippie days. -------- Look at Nat King Cole, he intentionally smokes to achieve a particular sound in his singing voice. There's all kinds of reasons out there.

Even though I knew Tawny very well, I had to sit back and smile about it.:) Tawny was a great person and friend, I know she would be laughing too.
I've been watching a few of these recent Don Dokken interviews. He's become your crazy uncle just ranting wildly at Thanksgiving. It's wild. Entertaining though!
Nah, just seems like a cool dude with common sense and interesting dialogue to hang out with. Nothing crazy about that.

Crazy Uncle ranting? Huh? He was directly asked a question about his thoughts on a subject and answered it and gave his opinion. Not quite the definition of a rant.
Oh man .. I wish hadn't missed this one... Dokken is in the top 3 most influential groups for myself.. Don's voice and georges guitar..pure magic
I have a funny Dokken story. In 1996, I had seen the band UFO-reunited with Michael Schenker-at a rock club in Springfield, Virginia called Jaxx.
After the show, I was in the parking lot and I looked up at the club’s marquee sign to see who was going to play the club the next day and it was Dokken but they had misspelled the band’s name on the sign as “Dockin,” as in what one does when parking a boat!
I laughed as I thought that this might be a real “Spinal Tap”moment for Don and the boys when their bus pulled in that parking lot the following afternoon.
Don Dokken has always had and has the voice of a Rock God! Dokken was postered on my walls and is still my favorite today! There's no voice that compares!!!

You have to be careful saying out loud what we're all thinking. Guaranteed someone on this comment board will say it's because we all have hate in our hearts. Meanwhile, when we do identify something that IS actually offensive regarding exposing our children to sexual proclivities we are told we are the problem. God I hate our society now.

As an artist it’s up to you to decide what you’re selling. If the times are changing and you can’t market what you used to then perhaps you should get out or continue to grow as an artist to meet the market of today

Yeah, he's irrelevant. I loved the music, but don't care much for his personal or political opinions. Interesting with his throat issues, he's still smoking, and drinking his tasty beverage out of a college frat-house red cup.
