    The best handling ever, the best trunk, great comfort and space, sporty car with the rust problem.

    Nice job and nice car ! I wish I had stored my 76 Alfasud ti in 1987 for a similar restoration.

    That is, officially, my favourite TH-cam clip ever! Last year I bought a South African Sud. She was out racing with an Audi R8, yesterday. That was my reward for a whole week of love, in lockdown. Mine is a Series 3 in run out cream, but she's got the 1.5 Ti nutter bastard engine, with the Series 2 gearbox. I'm sorry to say, everywhere I look for orange, she comes up silver. I absolutely adore what you have done to that rare S1. The absolute perfect colour. I live quite near you too!

    Brings back memories. My dad had a series 2 TI - same colour and engine.

      My second car was a S2 Ti. It was 4 years old and I paid £800 which seemed a fortune!

    Absolutely stunning mate!!! You must be damn proud of her!
    That 1.5 boxer sounds sweet as can be. My dad had a Sud 1.3 Super in 77 and me , i just bought a 1980 Capri 3.0S and am waiting, very impatiently, for it to arrive .

      'free litre Capri's sound good too!

      Strange, I went from Alfasuds to 3.0 Capri's back in the 80's when both were very affordable!

    Oh what wow what a trip down memory lane this was i had a series 1 1300Ti on an "S" plate and what a glorious car it was....even tho i did have the later 84 Green cloverleaf and numerous other Alfas along the way....the early Sud outshone them all

    Very pretty car. Great job. Do the front fenders just unbolt or are they welded on?

    Hi Phil recently bought a series 3 Alfasud 5 Door with the intention to restore unfortunately the pictures didn’t reveal the true existent of the rust in the inner wings there basically non existent.
    Is there any places or people within your contacts that I might be able to source some good ones?
    Cheers

    • @philwesty21
      @philwesty21  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Keith. Getting any panels for Suds is extremely hard which is why restoration work gets so expensive. Keep an eye on ebay.it and bear in mind 33 inners can be modified to suit. I'm a stickler for getting even unseen right and making repair panels with all the right strengthening shapes takes a lot of time. I think you can still get the upper wing rails from John at just suds 07932 750976. He may know where to find some other panels. Scour the web, there's supplier of Alfa parts all over Europe. You'll need to learn the part names in multiple languages too! The Facebook group can be handy too, but Sud people guard their stash cautiously!

      Cheers Phil,
      I didn’t know about the 33 inner wings.
      I’ve also got a S3 3 Door which is in CTCRC originally 1.3 but now 1.5
      Also have a 1.7 engine waiting for a rebuild but that’s a big Class jump up so slowly sorting all the other jobs on the Sud before attempting that.

      @philwesty21  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keithevans4643 nice! No doubt you've thought about strengthening the wing rails/a pillars already. Definitely a weak point in the design

      So at the minimum need the A panels and inner wing hanger?
      Is it called an A panels?

    • @philwesty21
      @philwesty21  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keithevans4643 not sure what bit you're calling a panel. A pillar goes from roof down side of screen, down door to the sill. Wing rail joins front panel to strut top to a pillar. Chassis rail is the bottom one joing to sill

    Is it easy to get spare parts in the Sud?

    • @philwesty21
      @philwesty21  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not exactly easy, but ok. mechanical parts are easiest as they are shared with later cars like the 33 and 145/6. Body panels are next to impossible to get, so you just have to keep looking and buy things you dont really need! Someone will always need them. Try sudshop.co.uk and alfa-restoration.co.uk to see whats commonly available

      Thanks for your comment! I have rebuilt the 1.2 Ti engine I got with the car, so an easy job to swap over if wanted to. I just went for horses :)
