I main dancer and love switching between it and machinist!! Great classes and definitely fun to play! Love not having a strict rotation and envant is clutch! Coming from wow, I mained a Havoc DH, dancer is very relatable and feels natural to me!! Great video!
Bard is in the best place it is ever been since I started playing and that was back in Stormblood. While I miss Foes Requiem, I do not miss the TP gage. Removing that in Shadowbringers made it much easier to AoE. Freeing us from DoT reliance has made us much more consistent damage dealers even with RNG. Shadowbite and Sidewinder used to share a timer, while Quick Knock now procs it - and to great effect. I always liked that skill, but waiting for it to come off cool down was a pain, or I'd use sidewinder on accident first. I'm not sure about currently since the .08 patch, but Bard has been at the top of the DPS for physical ranged DPS which is a bit staggering and dominates it's use in current end game. It is definitely busy, but that's why I decided to try healing - I figured if I could keep track of all this, I'd be okay watching my friends health. I haven't seen statistics since the buffs in .08 but I don't think Machinist is in top form. Some of that stems from Queen being a focal point of its damage window at current end game. As a "selfish" job among its brethren, it is supposed to be top dog of the damage charts because that literally is its job. I know when I was looking to over power things in Shadowbringers, I chose it over Bard. Dancer is last in DPS as far as I know, but that doesn't bug me. It's dosed to be a party animal. You don't bring personal DPS, you make everyone else better. Having a dance partner is very important to the job and that's where you are your best. It is very free form in its execution, but there's one thing a lot of people seem to miss... despite being ranged, a lot of its core AOE moves force it into melee range (or near to it). This is the reason Avant exists, so they can weave in and out of course range. Being able to "live dangerously" is another reason the job is so fun. I know it didn't receive many changes, but it didn't need to - don't fix what isn't broken. It absolutely stole Bard's thunder when it was introduced (and with good reason). It still brings the party up and its buffs are objectively better and more numerous than Bard. Machinist may be struggling a bit at this point, but all of the ranged are good. Moving and attacking constantly means that unless the boss is simply out of range, you are always dishing out damage. All that said, I'm glad Bard is so good currently. I feel justified in sticking with it long as I have.
My favorite is Dancer I love the proc based rotation and how despite being considered an easy job, the procs keep it from being boring plus the AF gear helps too lol
Dancer I had at max in SHB and EW still need to finish leveling brd/MCH which at at 62/64. Now with bard procs no longer needing the dots it's better imo. That being said I'm usually healing as Sage since I mained SCH in SHB but rpdps is my 2nd fav.
Machinist is in a decent place play style wise with how it flows and how it’s rotation and gameplay works. But unfortunately it really doesn’t offer anything of value right now in terms of damage or utility. If you wanna play it for fun please do. But the fact that it’s being so badly treated lately worries me.
It’s honestly kinda how dancers looking right now too, both mch and dnc can do all the endgame content, but bard is just the better pick every single time. I’m all for them being awesome but I just don’t get why mch can’t have the damage to keep up
As a prrior MCH and now DNC main I have to agree. BOTH jobs sorely needed the 6.08 buffs but I do feel it wasn't *quite* enough. MCH needed more than the 2-minute abilites buffed. They could have done what they did to DNC, and buffed the rotational abilities a bit as well. As for DNC, the damage increase is a little noticeable, but not quite enough. Either we need to have more support and utility, or a fairly significant increase in damage ability. I don't do savage raids, but even in the normal difficulty I feel like I'm not contributing as much as I should be, given that I even manage to hit every proc correctly.
Yeah mch is my chosen role and its supposed to be the more dps less utility job of the 3, yet i always seem to get out DPSed by dancers, who are supposed to be the less dps more utility of the 3. Like how is that okay? Feels similar to samurai getting out dpsed by other melees. Why play the role that sacrifices utility for dps if they get out dpsed by the roles with utility. Tho its always possible i just suck
It needs to either double down on being selfish and do more damage to compensate for its lack of utility, or it needs to be given utility on par with the other two Ranged DPS. obviously you can't have both, but I'd argue that having neither is worse.
just checking out the changes from when i last played ff14. i stopped playing with the heavensward expansion because square did my fave job dirty. they put a cast time on my bards skills. im glad bard looks to be fun job again.

You misunderstand. Machinist in terms of play style and ease of rotation is in a great place. This is not a dps guide this is a comparison of play styles and play style wise it is loved by many players. Rather you can take it into savage or play competitively is not the focus of this guide. 😅
@@BunBossFFXIV I politely disagree. Machinist has one of the most demanding rotations in the entire game for no trade off. While it doesn't contain that many different skills, it requires almost perfect timing to achieve anywhere close to optimal dps. (Drifting hurts machinist alot.) Ping also can be a problem as clipping is common unless you have perfect timing. Automation Queen is a glorified DoT that feels like it hits like soggy noodle. And don't get me started on the big suck that is Flamethrower. I love machinist dearly and unfortunately SE has designed it into a corner. Either keep the "selfish" dps option and give them good damage. Or scrap that concept and give them raid buffs like all the other ranged dps. The clunkiness of their rotation really makes machinist not very fun to play.
@caleb mach already has both. Youre probably a low lvl mach if you say they dont have Utility AND dps lol. Go open your skill book and stop making excuses. Mach has one of highest dps compared to bard and dnc. I have a parser. Mach is usually top dps. And mach is brain dead easy. Its like the whm of healers with crap ton of dps. Get ACT and see for yourself. Stop making false statements.
This is my favorite role. It's somewhat easier and is so mobile. I've mained BRD since I hot 50 on DRG and immediately changed to archer, heh. But I've really gotten into dancer in the last year and so I leveled both as I went through EW. I have machinst at 80 too and will level it eventually.
The way I like to describe dancer is that it has the best DPS of any support class I mained dancer until I reached shadowbringers, at which point I swapped to Reaper (I didn't start playing until some point after Shadowbringers came out ^^;) It has some of the best support skills, but its DPS is not the greatest...which is why I say it has the best DPS of any support class
I keep going back and forth between Bard and Machinist, but Machinist is winning for me because it’s just straight damage. No buffs or anything else to keep track of. Just keep shooting shit.

@koloth alot of it has to do with perception that ranged dps besides blm has carpy dps and provide no utility other than dnc or bards. Smn can replace rdm as backup healers. If youre good melee like sam, mnk or rpr or nin youre more likely invited. If youre dragoon it may be difficult. Most grps doing Savage also tend to kick and weed out people who cant do mechanics or have very short fused raid leaders who dont take kindly to learning groups. They EXPECT you to either learn fast or get the ef outta dodge. They most likely also use parses even though its against the terms of service and bannable offense. Some only care about clear time but most want bragging rights of some sort from either fast clears or highest dps invidually. They might even be going after their own personal best and play high dps classes like SAM and will make DNC in the raid buff their chosen class even if youre the other high dps melee. And if youre ranged good luck. Theres perception that ranged dps sucks. That perception becomes reality when the dnc gives the buff to the Sam instead and the raid revolve around them making sure they are raised and have 100% uptime. Its positive reinforcement of a perception and it keeps the fflog community from ever recognizing ranged dps contribution as theres fewer and fewer people giving ranged dps any kind of support on parses further denegrating the ranged class perception of being low dps class tiers.

BRD and DNC are already beating smn and rdm in rdps. So idk where you’re getting bad place from. Mch is the weakest dps right now. Brd was busted on release and now with dnc buffs it’s back to beating brd.

2.x full brd main, dropped it when 3.x launch hating bow mage so much. tried it again but felt so weird in 4.x like mage ballad has zero to do with MP or helping MP user jobs, why does it still have that name? Lol. 5.x was completely in love with dnc as a full main for dps job. Since 6.x havent touched it *shrugs* Loved 5.x mch rework buuut hate its aoe rotation its so bad, 6.x still hasnt fixed this. Spamming shitty cone melee aoe with gun or standing in place not moving for 10 secs using a flamethrower hope no enemy aoes come up isnt fun at all. I just use mch for 8 to 24 man content. Hate using it for 4 man dungeons since so dmg aoe focused there. 6.x i dont play dnc anymore but i see so many dnc that dont keep refreshing their standard step every 25 secs or dont even have it on at all much less selected a dance partner ass deep into a fight either. **internally screaming** dnc buffs speed up runs so much so it really matters when they arent used. Also "Dildo Mcdildo Face" haha
I play DNC to prog then transition BRD to have a good time, then play MCH to feel badass. Overall BRD just felt mooooore fun, its just very balanced for me to handle. A little bit of Dot tracking but nonetheless its a fun class to play, except when you die and mess up your songs.

How hard is it to use reassemle on cd with drill or air anchor. It doubles your dps briefly. Chain saw, automation queen etc adds to your dps. Its completely smooth brain dps class. I bet the mach with low dps keep using gage on cooldown instead of comboing it properly. Its like any other class. If all you do is push buttons without proper rotation then yea your dps WILL suck!
It is beyond my ken to understand why ffxiv players are so infatuated with complex jobs. If macros weren't so limited, I would have the entire game played by pressing the "1" key. Seriously, unicycling on a tightrope while knitting, juggling flaming axes, and playing chess is less a goal for people than ffxiv ytubers would have you think.
Because mastering a job is rewarding as hell. Honestly I don't understand why on earth someone would want to play a job so simple as to only press 1 button. If i wanted to play something that easy I'd go play tic tac toe. Besides you sound like you aren't interested in harder content, if that's the case, you CAN just macro everything to one button. The only fights in the game that have anything close to a real dps check is current savage and ex trials, so the clipping of macros really doesn't matter unless you want to be good at your job.

Flamethrowing ticks much quicker at every second. It's a dps increase equivalent to any of your other cooldowns.

Rdm smn bard mch and dancer still requires damage buff. At 95% percentile you will see a huge gap between the other dps and these 5 mentioned
