Been looking for a good video to show how it "feels to play" each class, but so many vids are so narrowly focused on stats - really appreciate this format - thanks!!
I picked up Astro as my first healer a few years ago and have mained it ever since. Definitely took a little bit to get used to, as it is quite busy, but over time the button presses become second nature. Also helps when you are big into the aesthetic!
For me the "earthly star" was what made it a lot of fun, its respectable aoe and a pocket heal, provided the enemy isnt super mobile, you either blow it up as soon as it hits the stronger second phase, or just set and forget and have a auto heal boom in 20 secs. i use that a lot, both for clearing groups and for boss fights, it is true that pulling cards, trying to keep the best astro pull with 3 types AND dropping star bombs does keep you juggling. definitely the adhd spec.
Yeah this for me too, I started as a monk main, and when I was lv75 in HW I decided that I was gonna ram the lv cap too quick so decided to pick up a healer to have a different duty option, and I wasn't in the mood for lv1 so I picked up astro... And I actually love it! It took a bit to learn how to heal ( it took me way too long to learn how to scroll through my party members... Thankfully I decided to run a dun with npcs to practice for that very reason...) But once I got the hang of it, it's fun. Card shuffling mid Gravity only yo see that the damn pally pulled the entire Russian army and Usain Bolted to Mordor with em and dropping my OGCD to pick em up then regening so I can help dot em... Great times.
i'm a main healer, maxed out WHM and AST, now that i tried Sage i must say that i need some time conditioning myself to the change but it's not really that hard. SGE is the most fun healer with fast pace mechanic, but still nothing can beat the absolute raw power and simple monke brain of WHM
@Azha F Each healer is just unique. Id say the most frustrating healer is Ast follow by Sch. The most fun healer has to be Sage for mobility and whm for raw healing power. Ast card system is a dozen button for 3% dps increase. Sage mobility is balanced by being the lowest potency and most mana inefficient heals but also one of the smoothest dps. The laziest healer has to be Sch but then when sheet hits the fan, the Sch just has so much button for so small heals. At least Sage you can keep up with party and avoid aoes while doing puny heals. Whm and Ast can be laziest healers with regen. Shield healers can take a breather when shield crit but when it doesn't it adds a tiny "shield" that is equivalent to 400 potency heal but cost twice as much. But when it crits its like a free Cure 2 that extends the hit point bar for days.
It was interesting learning Sage for me because I play every job in the game. I did, however, end up completely redoing my healing bar as I started to learn Sage to make it flow more comfortably. It’s to the point now that even though SCH shares like 80% of the same abilities they FEEL quite a bit different to play because my action bars are not the same.
Sage have a hard time between lvl 35 to 47 dunjon your skill consume a lot of PM pack can be big and your only ability in Physis or kardia boost none of witch can absorbe starting pull damage spike... on the other hand the tank is also limited in is own cooldown...
I pronounce Astrologian the same way! I'm still levelling my first healer (WHM), which I love, but Sage looks exciting to play so I'll be levelling it next I think. Your Practical Healing guide for WHM was super helpful when I was overcoming my healer anxiety :)
I've went WHM -> AST -> SGE so far and I gotta say, AST prepared me for all the keyboard dancing I'd have to do on SGE, but it has some high highs and low lows while learning. With AST and WHM my party can eat shit for days and I can just chill with WHMs high potency and AST having oGCDs for days to keep everyone alive, but SGE if I'm running low on resources and ppl are eating too many mechanics/orange, they're probably on the ground. The gap closer is so amazing for greeding mechanics or for catching up with tanks who randomly remember sprint exists 2/3 of the way into a dungeon, and getting a differential diagnosis at a key moment just feels so amazing
Sage was definitely a major learning curve for me. As someone that played almost the entire game as a white Mage, it was different. Going from pure heals to now having to do other things, it proved difficult. But, I still got Sage up to a level where I could do Endwalker content with it and finished the game as a Sage. 😁 I actually really enjoy Sage now. 😊
I kinda feel like Sage is kind of the true beginner healer, as it teaches you during its leveling process how to play a healer properly while the white mage is basically just full of traps encouraging bad habits. It teaches you to dps as much as possible and rely strongly on your ogcd spells as dps generates additional healing while addersgall heals are extremely strong and at the same time regenerate your mp. phlegma also teaches you better healer positioning, as it forces you to stay close on the boss, which is the position where you are the most likely to teach all your party members with your aoe heals. Soteria is also basically a tool that encourages to keep on dpsing and relying on your kardia and ogcd heals. I played a bit of heal before, but sage was the class with whom I really shifted towards maining healer and just I feel like its toolkit really teached me how to heal the most efficently while dpsing most of the time. White mage on the other hand is just full of traps, beginning with cure I and its lily system just is designed in encouraging suboptimal healing behavior...and is also kinda shit tbh. Like, they just seem to be like a worse version of addersgall in every single regard. They are on the ogcd, they don't regenerate mp and they don't even offer some interesting effects like the 10% mitigation buffs.
I'm brand new to ff14 and I had no idea which class I wanted other than the fact it had to be a healer. This video has helped me decide to do scholar! Thanks so much for the info
so basically what im getting at is that white mage is perfect for me i have no issue with simple healers like that who just does what they are supposed to do and thats it XD
i will say i also love sage for how much cooldown focused it feels as in it has so many cooldown spells even at lvl 70 where mine is at that can do big things so i rarely have to cast heals apart from shield heals as i can just pop my various cooldowns when needed
I aim to do all heals. Each has their own advantage in some way and since I typically heal like to do all. Easy way to change it up and never get bored :)
@@lushdontu4015 I don't know really lol. The damage is definitely lower compared to others but I make due for now in solo content :) I'm also leveling up other jobs too so I can swap if needed for more damage.
@@lushdontu4015 Kinda late to the conversation, but I also main Astro, and even when it's true that it takes more time to finish solo stances, it's doable lol
6.1 Whm picked it up last week. Only lvl 50. Did a it of SGE and SCH before. Love the big heals and the promise that bloodlily is no dps loss anymore. And cure 3 big heal aoe is very nice! Holy holy holy
SCH, for internet with bad latency, SCH mobility is awesome. -no castime atk, so you can just move around doing mechanics while keep your damage. -fairy helps healing -no castime panic button to save tank, party or damage mitigation for party with aetherfflow, and you can have up to 9 ammo. -ease of use. I think helps healing anxiety. just got my sch to 61, an suddenly became my fave
I have one of each. WHM and SCH at 90, SGE in 70s, AST at 85. I absolutely love AST. I main a SMN but lately, I can’t get enough of AST. So much fun (and anxiety, but that’s just me lol).
As someone who went through almost all msq as a WHM(started during 5.55 I think and finished 6.0 recently) and I finished EW as a dancer, I honestly like playing it. For the most part I can weave abilities pretty well, and been using it to help my friends clear ARR content unsynced lol.
I really love Sage, it's a lot of fun and you do have some limited power healing when shit goes south (depending on cool downs). Also really enjoying AST. I have to say I used to main WHM but it's not that straightforward to me anymore with its lack of ogcd heals, I find myself struggling to be efficient
I've recently started, just up to mid Stormblood now. I picked up Sage at 70 and fell in love. I really like how you never have to hardcast, it is so fluid weaving oGCD's in the downtime of each Dosis etc, and barely ever losing DPS unless you have to turn on Eukrasia, which is only like a 2 second loss. Now I am scared to play other healers like WHM, as I don't want to have to hard cast heals. But credit where it's due, the stun on holy is great.
@jc whm can be potent mitigator. Put up regen on tank then let Holy mitigate. You dont need to spam it just let it slow down dmg while your grp finish the job. Mitigate dmg is better than healing sometimes especially if you can do dps as well.
@vasudean Sage is mobile shielder with Eukrasian diag/progn. Its got the BEST gage system. Ast got second best gage system ie Ast dont even use gage for healing. Sage gage is fast and ogcd heals even restore 7% mp.
I am actually planning to main Astro and Sage for my Healers. Yes both can have a learning curve and can be tedious but I find it fun. Still learning, but when I manage to lawlessly keep the party alive I feel satisfied.
Astro is by far my favorite healer after trying all of them. I was terrified of healing but started with white mage which was nice... moved to scholar which felt a lot better then finally tried astro and OH MY GOD I fell in love. It's so fun. So busy. I love it. I still don't understand sage lol... but I'm still in astro land. Her time will come one day.
busy? please. every single class in the game has been a gutted, braindead empty shell since stormblood. the game is a shell of its former self. streamlined, devoid of all complexity, homogenized, treating the player base like 3 year old kids. back in the day we used to have cleric stance, the fairy system was busy, ast card system was 10x as busy before all the stupid reworks. even going through any given leveling dungeon was a perilous experienced. nothing was telegraphed , no stupid aoe puddles everywhere telling you where to stand, ACTUAL MECHANICS. healers used to actually have to heal. this games a joke now. thats why you have god damn sprouts playing for 1 month already clearing turn 12 of savage.modern xiv is an absolute travesty and all healers are just dps with braindead 1-2 button dd rotations (that cast some heals on occasion...an occasion that is telegraphed 5 weeks in advance that you could see it fom space)
I've mained whm since I started 3 years ago but I started up with sage this expansion and I love it. Haven't touched my whm in a bit except for it to catch up to my sage at lv 90.
Sage is a weird one for me. Its lower healing out put has made me a tad weary of sages in dungeons since pulling as a tank means your going to be in critical health pretty quickly. Also means of things go south they can't really save you (looks at DRK invul). On top of that like was mentioned previous healer experience doesn't translate well to Sage so its been pretty hard to pick up. Eventually I'll get to it but for now Sage is in a soso spot for me
Once it clicks it’s really op but it can be frustrating if your another role in the dungeon and seeing the struggle. It’s all about understanding what pairs together and stacking abilities effectively
it literally is the healer with the highest HPS right now. Wym "low healing output"? That's just not playing it right or expecting it to work like a WHM. Also you can easily solve DRK invul with a simple Krasis + zoe + pneuma + tauro. That's 2124 potency healing in a little over a single GCD on the tank + 900 healing potency on the whole party. The only thing that would provide more single target healing in such a short amount of time is WHM's benediction, or scholar burning all three aetherflow on a recitation + excog + lustrate + lustrate + lustrate
@@jodavitow i dont have exact numbers on anything, I'm just speaking from my observations from being on the receiving end of sage healing and comment threads talking about it (since I don't play Sage yet) and Sages always seem to struggle in dungeon pulls, even at higher lvl EW dungeons They do fine in ex trials though
@@jodavitow Interesting combo but it has some issues. I tested it on dummy with myself as target, and it heal to full health only when i get Crit pneuma. Also you get Pneuma only on 90th lvl, so this combo is uasble only in 89th-90th lvl content everywhere elow you can forget about such sweet 2124 healing potency on "single" gcd. So this combo is usanble only on 90th lvl, only if you keeping pneuma for Living dead and not using it as aoe heal
*FINALLY* I was really looking forward to your updates views for the classes for Endwalker! Thanks as always and always looking forward to your content!👌✌
This was a great video! I think I became a healer main this expansion. They all have similar tools but I think this expansion added some unique variance, especially their capstone skills. They also have different environments they’re good with so each one is fun in different ways. Still hoping for some changes in the future. Main thing is I wish they had more interesting DPS rotations, even something minor like new animations and potency for Energy Drain, or a DPS window during Presence of Mind or Astrodyne. The 6.2 EX trial shows a lot of fun use for healing abilities so I think they figured out that factor well, so I hope they make DPS more fun too so it’s fun to do in solo content. I also dislike the fairy gauge right now. Kind of wish the Aetherflow heals were just oGCD heals with a cooldown, and energy drain raised the gauge, and you had a mix of faerie heals to use it on. Would also encourage damaging. Absolutely love Expedient though. Also hope they make Astro better for controller players with how the card targeting works. I play with the Mixed setting too so I have 36 buttons, which makes jobs like AST and SCH feel a bit bloated too. Overall I am pretty happy though. Not sure how I feel on he whole pure-barrier healer divide but I can live with it. Excited to see what they do in the future.
Mained SCH to 80 but swapped to WHM because too many abilities in SCH, I’d regularly take breaks and would spend weeks relearning SCH each time. WHM is much more friendly in that regard, less buttons to push, and more direct heals. Though I have not gotten used to using Holy during pulls yet
Played back in 2019 for a while but eventually dropped it for other things. Was gonna pick it up again recently but the sales had been suspended ( :( ), so I'm waiting for 25th to grab it on PC (was PS before) and jump into White Mage again (was my main from console too); albeit Conjurer technically since I intend on making a new toon and starting again (it's been a while, wanna relearn everything from scratch... ideally properly).
I love sage so much especially when tanks hard pull. Getting stacks of toxicon and setting up for a dps window is so much fun. Combine that with a dk hard pulling gives back the dks former glory in the defense department. Hope you get your long awaited rework soon dk.
I main all heals. It took me only one dungeon to realize that as a sage I can literally go brain dead and heal. Ast is the one I take if I want to actually do something that requires my attention. I like all healers. But when going into the unknown ima have to say whm for them raw heals. Sch is the one I take for dungeons that i need auto heals so i can focus on specific targets while fairy heals.
1:00 suggesting learning using medica 2 while showing the far better heal on screen, holy, and not mentioning it is exactly why most new healers over heal everything.
@@BunBossFFXIV Thats not what I meant, i was saying your advice was bad. Holy is a 7 second aoe stun in dungeons and you never once mentioned it. I see sprout white mages healing dungeons exclusively through medica 2 all the time and this is entirely wasted healing and it leads to them overhealing in nondungeon content as well.
@@noelsanaka what I am saying is your too stuck up on a general comparison video, this isnt a practical guide to healing video where I breakdown every single skill. Just a general comparison on what to expect from each healer and something to help people want to get into healers. And these type of comments is exactly why people DONT want to play healers.
@@BunBossFFXIV people dont want to play healers because they do not want the responsibility of keeping the party alive and being blamed for everyone dying, while SE has made the vast majority of content require very little actual healing. The big problem with this guide is that you dont understand that the separation between healers is largely nothing. ALL healers are ogcd healers, and telling new players to focus on using their worst heals is actually bad advice leading to them struggling healing normal content. Everyone in this game is a dps first, thats how every encounter is designed.
Some slight corrections: WHM: liturgy of the bell is not a healing over time necessarily. The way liturgy works is every hit taken it eats a stack of healing. Kinda like panhaima from sage but instead of shields purr healing. AST: astrodyne does not give all the buffs from 1-3 cards. It gives the buff depending how many UNIQUE cards you have. Meaning that if you have all the same you will only have mp regeneration. If 2 unique seals means mp increase PLUS haste, and 3 is all the buffs mentioned. (It was worded as if it’s guaranteed it was going to be all those buffs no matter what)
WHM needs Liturgy of the bell's duration changed. It's so short that it rarely pops more than once on the auto heal, but too long to use as like a delayed heal for big damage
I'm trying my best to be a healer main. WHM is my main job but I just enjoy healing. I started as an arcanist to get a healer and then learned that whm existed. I used to be WHM and AST split because ast was the in-between. Now I have WHM and SGE. I have not forgotten my other two tho. Just gonna take a bit to get them all to 90, geared up and playable to a competent level.
I started playing FF14 about a year ago. Farming resistance weapons materials in Delubrum Reginae as a WHM before 6.0 taught me a lot about damage mitigation. So I got used to SGE pretty quickly. Then now I rarely play WHM and find it a bit bland with MP issues as well. Might try out AST.
Been a whm since I started from arr. Never tried astro or scholar. Decided to try sage after finishing endwalker and jesus... what a learning curve! It's so different, but my God it's so much fun!
Pneuma is actually pretty weak. For a 2 minute cool down, it doesn't do as much as you would think it does. In the same amount of time, an AST could get off 2 fully charged Earthly Stars, which equals 620 potency for damage, and 1,440 potency of healing, all for free since it's an oGCD ability and not a GCD spell like Pneuma. Yes, it is a lot more predictive, but the size of it is so big now that placement hardly matters anymore. It, AST, like you said, does have a bit of a steep learning curve to do well with it.
granted pneuma is also free because it has the same damage as dosis so you're just getting a raidwide heal on top of a dosis cast (that can also be used to pad if theres multiple adds, though macro is better for this purpose) that can also be further enhanced via zoe. its still a bit underwhelming for a 90 skill, but then again it gives sge the very much necessary burst healing in their kit, or else they would be suffering quite a lot. imo panhaima is more of a 90 skill than pneuma is but oh well lol
Technical aside, your Ps seem to pop a bit on the recording. Not sure if the mic could use a filter or something to balance the audio, but you may want to look into that. Otherwise I have no issues with it, as you're very clear with what you say and bring your points across well. I've yet to pick up Sage, but I have gotten White Mage to 90. Maybe I'm a bit of a smooth brain, but I really love the simplicity of the job, and probably the aesthetics too. I also like how they separated the Lord and Lady cards from the rest, so I'll be looking forward to that on Astro. I've never considered myself a great Scholar, but shield healing has definitely helped create a part of my mind that prepares for damage rather than reacting to it all the time. Thanks for the rundown, I think I have a little better expectation of Sage now when running content.
Yea, I am not sure why in this video, because it hasnt been a problem in other videos, but this one seemed pretty noticeable. Maybe I was too close to the mic, I just want to get a newer better mic, with a good p filter. I have a p filter already but ehhh its not doing it for me. Sage wil be great :D
I played Holy Prriest for over 10 years in WoW. I just cannot get to grips with Sage at all. Pretty much like I could not make Disc Priest work in WoW. I'll just stick with my WHM and hope that Square will give it some love at some point.. Blood for the Blood Lily.
I'm finally (after playing since Stormblood, lol) working on getting a job leveled to cap for each role. I'm a tank main (GNB), and I've leveled a melee DPS (RPR), so next up is healer (figure I should get the three main roles out of the way before I start focusing on the other subdivisions of DPS), and after watching this and some other videos, I'm tentatively thinking of going with Sage. Starting at level 70 is intimidating, on top of the complexity of the job itself, but the upside of starting at level 70 is that I can very quickly start using Trusts to practice in a bit of a low-stress environment until I feel confident enough in my healing to start partying up with actual humans. Sage wins in aesthetics for me (although, as a long time Final Fantasy fan, I also really do love White Mage's iconic white and red look), it seems really fun to play once you can get a handle on it, and I figure I'd rather try something more difficult that will be more fun in the long term, than go with something like White Mage, which may be easier, but my gut is telling me I won't enjoy as much over time.
I've mained healing since 2.0. Originally was a white mage, switch to scholar around 2.3 until SHB when it felt... off to me. That was when I switched to astro. And now I'm a sage lol.
Sage is fun to play but I'm no good at it yet. I come from a DPS background so and although I did level a white mage to lvl 72 a long time ago, I wanted to try this new class. It reminds me of disc priests in WoW.
My gripe with the four healers is the lack of understanding healing roles. I have gone though alot of content seeing SCH and Sages having to pick up the slack of a WHM and AST because they fail to grasp the content they are pure healers.
I can see the frustration honestly. As long as they keep a regen or two up and make sure to have a big burst of healing for when a room wide comes it’s usually pretty simple.
I can relate to this as a SCH main. When I picked up AST, I realized the core difference between the two types of healers and that's Barrier healers are damage mitigation machines and pure heals actually recover damage taken. I have seen the opposite as well, where the Barrier healer never uses any barriers or moves outside of their group mitigation. It sucks when you have to pick up the slack for your co healer.
@@hellfrozenphoenix13 Depends on which content we are talking about. Non Savage Content rarely ever incoming damage which would require shields. When people don't spread out like idiots when its unnecessary, its usually enough to immediately after a room wide aoe to cast some ogcd aoe heal to keep the group healthy.
White Madge is not bland - you can work your ass off healing, removing bombs, giving regin and casting shields - you going to be busy as hell and often the savior of a lost raid. Get your piety to 1200 and you rule all heals.
I just recently started playing FFXIV. Started off with Summoner so dabbled in scholar here and there and really didn’t enjoy it. Trying out Astro right now it’s okay. Hoping to get Sage soon so I can try that class out.
I started the game in 2013 as CNJ -> WHM, and maxed SCH (to 50, because Sacred Soil seemed cool to me) and played both in many a Crystal Tower and Praetorium run. While I've added more Jobs over time, these two I've had level capped absolutely every expansion of the game. And now it's useful because I have a Pure and Barrier healer for any party I get into and can flex accordingly. I love SCH. It's clunky as all hells and I refuse to use Disspitation on principle, but overall the Job is amazingly powerful to me. I said in ShB that SCH is probably the most powerful healer in the game, and I hold to that today as well. "SCH zoomies" got poo-poo'd on after the Job Actions trailer, but it's SO useful for the sprint alone (which lasts...a long time), as well as the mitigation. Both current Extremes have good places to use it (meteors and chackrams, for example), and shielding is actually USEFUL now. But that said, SCH's oGCD healing is fantastic and it has a lot of neat tools to use for various situations, even if some seem to counteract each other (for example, you don't want to use Fey Union under Seraph). The true challenge of SCH is getting all your abilities arranged on your bars and remembering what all tools you still have available for different situations. WHM, on the other hand, is...serviceable, but needs some buffs. It can absolutely clear all content...but it definitely could use some more something. The classic MMO healer, WHM does have some powerful oGCDs, but its real strength has long been its GCD healing kit and throughput. In ARR and HW (and honestly SB), WHM had the most powerful brute force heals. This made WHM good for beginners, useful in progression, and often capable of late-tier solo healing content. It didn't bring damage, but it brought unparalleled healing potential. Because GCD heals are always available and WHM had Thin Air for MP management and Presence of Mind for speed (and at one time, Largess for increased potency of GCD heals), WHM was very forgiving of mistakes, making it excellent for new healers and for veteran healers running highly challenging content alike. In ShB, it was the strongest brute force healer by far, and seemed to be the healer the Devs were designing around, making it well suited to the content. ...though in EW, WHM needs some love. With AST converted to a pure/non-barrier healer, AST got a lot of buffs to MP management (some it needed, this is true), but also GCD heal potencies. This makes its GCD kit effectively comparable to WHM's, albeit without Cure 3, but with it also having cards and a wide array of oGCD heals on the side that it's always had. WHM was further harmed (relatively and in absolute terms) by the nerfing of Thin Air, which robbed it of its undisputed GCD healing king niche at the same time as damaging its MP economy. This made the only two things WHM had on AST being that it does more personal DPS (good at the start of a tier when players are in low gear but worse at the end of a tier when AST's buffs have more base player gear stats to boost into the stratosphere) and AOE stun on Holy, which is useful for 4 man content and field content like Eureka/Bozja (but the EW Relic stuff isn't in the game yet) So right now, WHM either needs an MP management buff, Potencies to be buffed to be higher than AST again, a major buff to Thin Air, and/or a buff to damage. Hopefully, in 6.1, it'll get something from that list. People have talked about doing this with Misery or making Lilies oGCDs, but what people fail to realize is that Lilies are what WHM's use to dps as a movement tool. Unlike SCH's having Ruin 2, WHM's have nothing to use for long movement other than Swiftcast+Glare if Dia doesn't need to be refreshed/overwritten. Casting a Lily, even on a 100% health party, is their "movement toll dps gain" as it contributes to 1/3rd of a future Misery. Unless WHM gets a GCD instant damage spell (e.g. turn Dia into a direct damage attack instead of a DoT or something), making Lilies oGCDs doesn't really fix the problem, it just shifts the problem around. Right now, I'd say revert the Thin Air change would be the most direct change to restore WHM's niche and make it have something worth competing with AST over, but we'll see what the Devs decide in a few weeks, I guess. At least they did seem to acknowledge WHM needs some help in the Liveletter, so here's hoping.
Sage Main and it was tough at the beginning i even doubted myself after some KOs and wipes while tank pulled many mobs … but Sage is fun and as you said just need to understand that Sage is the green DPS that keeps team in great shape AND DPS. It’s almost like overhealing style. Just after i was happy to play with my ASTRO again but Sage is soooo funny to play i can’t get my hands out of it xD
Started maining sch, then started maining ast once I got to HW, fell in love with sage and I finally got around to lvling whm LMAO It’s so cool how diff they all feel tho tbh
I love AST but it's just so damn busy in Endwalker. Ideally you would want all buffs to stack but after using Divination, cards, Astrodyne, and give the tank a little something so they don't go splat there's so little time to take advantage of the buffs yourself which normally wouldn't bother me but with Astrodyne it does. There are just so so many ogcds. I liked previous expansion ASTs better. Macrocosmos is nuts though.
I feel like I'm the only AST main that liked the simplified card system in ShB lol. I don't want to be that busy when the RDM throws themself off the platform. 😅😋
You pretty much have to lightspeed right away and double weave everything, then when your card draws are done it's like a grace period where you can attack normally until the 60 second window. Stressful if you have to dodge during all this too, or a teammate walks into something and dies you have to stop what you're doing and res
I like Astro and sage a lot. If I have to pick one Astro I honestly find it the easiest healer for me. I hate whm I don’t like how gcd heavy it is and it’s mp economy atm is shit
what is the shield priority between scholar and sage if this even exists, in a trail is it the first person to cast a shield or the second? and does adderstinger take effect if the shield is broken by being overwritten by a different shield?
Well in my personal opinion both shields are gcds so unless it’s like a prepull shield most of the time I don’t use it. I mostly am safe off of all sages damage mitigation but if I had to say probably sages shield For me personally.
@@BunBossFFXIV I mean like, does a sch, overwrite a sages eukrasia diagnosis on the prepull with a critlo + deployment tactics, and if I do does that sage still get addersting
@@Alex-iq2oz addersting is only generated if the shield is broken through damage, not when removed by other effects like galvanize or if it naturally expires via timers. if ur running a sch and sge you will have to overwrite their spreadlo on 3 people to get your toxicon prepull
Great video. Good tips. I'm a casual player, and started SCH a month before EW, as first healer. Love it, though i mostly spam adlo and forget to press all of the better spells 😖. I panic a lot and using those better spells would help, but can't help it haha. Getting better atbit though. I would love to try Sage, but so many different spells with 'kinda the same' options (10%mitigation?) looks confusing. I do love shield healers (been disc priest in wow as main for years), cause i can't stand seeing healthbars drop below 80% or i panic 🤣
Great video! Recitation should really just be used for indom. Crit aldo DT if you can get a free roll out of it on downtime maybe, but it's a dps loss when minmaxing.
on dungeons recitation + excog I feel is much better. Heals about the same but you get an extra aetherflow to use as healing or damage, plus the extra 10 fairy gauge. recitation + excog is a good tankbuster tool too if you know you won't need the AoE indom heal for the next 90 s
Yes pretty much. But with all the mitigation and other things that the other classes have now, it’s not enough to convince me to play white mage ya know
So while WhM has superior healing and a lot of direct damage, AST has its damage buffs and utility. Meaning rhag WHM beats it in pure healing potential, but AST has way more options can can actively help party members do more damage. I would also say that, in terms of pure mitigation potential, SCH is still high up there due their many options to distribute shields and mitigate damage, but Sage still had a lot of mitigation and is the best damage for healers right now. As a result, in ideal situations, Sages are undeniably helpful as they provide that extra damage over the other healers. I say all 4 healers are EXCEPTIONALLY, well balanced, with good arguments being able to be made for where each of them strive.
Raw healing wise in certain situations AST destroys white mage. One example is in P3s which has a mechanic that reduces everyones hp to 1 and grants a healing potency down debuff and follows that up with a really heavy raidwide. However AST has a ability called macrocosmosis which heals you for the amount of damage taken effectively making it a party wide benediction.
@@hellfrozenphoenix13 AST absolutely destroys white mage in raw healing any time of the day. It just has insane ogcd tools with a shit ton of raw healing potential, with macrocosm probably being one of the most insane group heals in the entire game during heavy raid damage. Sage also has in my opinion better mitigation potential than scholar. Sure, Scholar has their massive crit addlo which they can spread across the group, but scholar has two raid wide 10% mitigation buffs with one of them being ready every 30 seconds and additionally putting a hot on everyone while also having panhaima.
Even though I just started playing back in June, I've always been a Tank and Healer main back when I played WoW. I played Summoner, Dark Knight, and Astrologian while leveling and doing the MSQ, but as soon as I saw Sage in the Job Action video I knew I was going to try it. And I *_love_* it. I love the visual effects, the sounds, the thematic, and the fin funnels (or "nouliths"). I love that nearly all its spells and abilities are instant cast (the only things you'll ever hard-cast are Pneuma and filler Dosis), and a vast majority of them are also oGCD. I love that it's a healer that actually has to pay attention to its Mana, and that I have to actually use Lucid Dreaming on cooldown. I love that it's a proactive healer where you have to think ahead and put out your abilities _before_ people take damage instead of after. I love that Kardia lets you "set and forget" about healing the tanks in boss fights, since you don't need to pay attention to the tank and can focus on the fight mechanics and DPSing instead. I love that it has so many ways to handle wall-to-wall pulling pretty easily, even with Dark Knights. Speaking of, I love that it perfectly complements Dark Knights, because it covers their sore lack of defense with a bunch of set-up-ahead abilities, so both the DK and the Sage can then focus on dealing damage. The only minor pain point I have with it is the lack of "oh shit" buttons (especially for single-target), since if you mess up and the tank takes a tank buster without any mitigation, basically the only way to try to fix it is to spam a 3+ Druochole, and even that usually won't top them off. It also feels really weird that I love Sage so much, since back when I played WoW I really liked playing Holy Priest (essentially White Mage), and I greatly disliked Disc Priest (essentially Sage). I also really disliked Arcane Mage, a spec that entirely revolved around managing its mana; and while I don't really enjoy playing Black Mage, I do still like the Sage mana management.
Just a small correction on WHM for any new players, it is NOT unlocked at level 1. Conjurer is the starting class and once you get to 30 and have done all the class quests up til then THEN you get the quest to become a WHM. Same for SCH, you start as an Arcanist and at level 30 the Summoner and Scholar quests open up to be come those jobs. Not trying to start any hate or malice, just trying to contribute and help any new players with any possible confusion.
Finally made it to the Astrologian and so far I love it, pretty simple to understand thanks to your last video and with each new ability, I get I try to focus on the color of the cards and make sure I apply the buffs where they need to go. I'm still too nervous to take my butt into dungeons but when I'm ready, at least I will be a decent healer lol. Thanks for the videos!
I'm really hoping AST is in its usual state of being a mess at expansion launch and eventually gets patched into a good form again. New spells are fun and its got potential but its a freaking mess of a job at 90. Too many things to do and nothing really fits with one another. I'm a AST main playing only Sage. I actually just leveled my WHM up because I really dislike how chaotic AST rotation has been updated in the latest expansion. Hoping for some fixes!
I agree, it's a mess. Minor arcana feels so pointless and it has nothing to do with the rest of the kit. It's too many buttons even for casual playing but it's so much worse when you're trying to optimize. You literally HAVE TO lightspeed + double weave on burst windows to maximize damage, and if someone messes up you need to stop your optimization to heal them back up which means your timings get messed up a lot and your dps gets punished often. I loved AST in ShB but it really feels like a hot mess at 90. And even if you play perfectly you don't even bring the most rDPS out of all the healers.
@@jodavitow I feel like the only big problem with ast right now is the button overbload, due to both draw and use spells being on seperate buttons without any logical reason, which creats unnecessary bloat.
When people say don't spam adlo I question if you truly understand how shields work. For example, if you use a shield heal, and the barrier is about 1000. If that barrier takes any damage you can apply the barrier again before the barrier is destroyed. Using that same barrier of 1000 if that target takes 999, using another shield is better than using physick/base heal especially if it crits knowing how shields work. Also where Shields aren't just a 1000 barrier it's a 1000 heal as well, which means it's actually a 2000+hp heal. If you are struggling to heal a tank, and you understand this fundamental, you can save them pretty easily. Same if a party member is suddenly tanking a boss, including yourself.
I understand what your saying but generally spamming a gcd heal or shield is not effective. Most players default to this in understanding their full healing kit and utilizing their other abilities. Also if properly using your healing kit and damage mitigation that shield will not be at 999 by the time another adlo is needed. This is under the special circumstances that you have exhausted every single other ability that you would alternate between adlo and physick with the reason being you will need to recover the tanks health and not just reapply the shield. Understanding how shields work is not just understanding that particularly ability but everyone as a bigger picture which is why I disagree with this comment.
@@BunBossFFXIV I disagree, I could explain why in detail but I know for a fact if we're using Scholar for example, using Physick is a greater loss than using adlo repeatedly (accurately). It follows the same principles of SGE's haima/panhaima but requires the player to do it manually.
@@radiantsol8936 what your describing and what I am describing in the video is so niche and should never happen anyway so no point of going further diving deeper into it
I used to be a SCH main, and SGE is just so fun to play, i can never go back to SCH. SCH really needed something flashy, but all the SCH mains i know switched, rest in peace
i prefer sch over sge. fairy being able to act as a healing totem is one of my favorite aspects about the job and is no longer a janky, unresponsive mess, and i like aetherflow as an mp management system over burning addersgall. expedient is a lot more fun to use as a capstone than pneuma is, like pneuma is cool but you only really use it as a heal. zoomies are a lot more entertaining and it's fun to try and find places where you can get value out of the mit and the movement. i also prefer seraph over panhaima, tho both are powerful abilities. i still enjoy sge but for any serious content i 100% prefer sch. sch does still have a lot of problems and sge feels really smooth and nice to play, but i mained it in shb and i don't want to abandon it, especially with the qol changes
Thank you so much for this! I've been trying out sage and i've been loving it alobgside Ast ! Thank you for explaining how to get the Addersting stacks on Sage that confused me i thought u get the stacks by using the eukrasian version of the dot spell and killing the enemy
Not sure if I mis-heard or am missing info: Astrologian at level 30? I thought it was level 50 job, but I've been away from the game for a while now ^.^ - Thanks for the info !
I'm doubling down to work my way to astrologian something about it just calls to me but i started the game like a week ago so it's gonna take me a while
I always pronounce astrologian as astronomer and im not even mad about it. Im so happy i leveled sage after playing WHM and AST it made it so much easier!
I have never healed in any MMO in the last 20 years until this game. I have never tanked either. I finally tried healing with a WHM...yes. It is so easy, that it is boring. I wanted to try sage and WHOA. It is so interesting. Thank you so much for your guides.
I couldnt tell you, but I always get crap on my pronunciations hahah to be fair sometimes, i get tongue tied and mispronounce words, but eh its part of the charm haha
I used to be a main WHM from day one and until the start of Endwalker. It was than I picked up astro and it was my second healer to lv 90. Think it was a bit hard at first, but I don't think it took that long to figure the class out and became my new main healer class. Struggled for a long time with Sage and didn't really understand it. But once it clickedcwith Sage, it became easy and again my new main class became Sage and are my go to healer. Got Scholar to lv 90 today and aren't that fan of it because of the cast time of some of the skills. Maybe someone else has another opinion, and that's okay
Felt like you were underselling the complexity of white-mage, most people think of it purely as a healer... and they ignore the regen and shield abilities (yes, white mage has shield abilities) and AoE regen abilities, placed-HoT auras, etc. Though I have started to like sage, never really liked Scholar and Astrologian, though I had all of them to 80 before the new expansion (of-course not including sage, it didn't exist)
Well it’s good to know people have other perspectives! It just isn’t doing it for me and now that lucid dreaming is a stack instead of duration kinda sucks. There is alot of really good combinations for white mage but it just doesn’t feel special anymore
@@BunBossFFXIV White Mage feels solid and functional, while the others are more iffy. Like you can be good at white-mage and the others are either more random or have a harder time keeping up with the pull-speeds of the game.
@@zephodb White Mage just feels blocky and rigid to me, compared to the smooth flow of the other healers. Mostly when it comes to dungeons though, when I have to use Lilies. Switching from Holy with a cast time to an instant is ok, but it feels like I have to wait forever before things start moving again since the GCD timer has to come back around and then I have to wait on the Holy cast timer again. It feels the same with single target, whenever I refresh Dia then go back to Glaring. With SCH, I can toss an Energy Drain in between the Bio refresh and the next Broil, and with SGE I can use Toxikon. ASTs can draw cards in that window. WHM just feels like it's lacking a "transition ability" there for me unless I need a random Tetragramation.
I started FF in November as an Arcanist, and went Scholar (bit of summoner but meh.) Went Samurai from SB > EW end. Anyways, after getting to 86/87 on my scholar, I realized that I kept losing motivation to level. At that point, I thought "well, I was gonna wait till I hit 90 on scholar, but I don't wanna level it atm so may as well try Sage." The difference is huge, and it became clear why I was getting bored with scholar. The lack of mobility and instant-casts, along with frustrating aetherflow management and tank healing utility, it was just a pain to heal. Sage is much, MUCH more fun. If Scholar's faerie gauge was 2x more efficient and Excog didn't require aetherflow, I may enjoy it, but maybe that'd make them OP...who knows. Good to see a vid on this, though. I stopped my Astro at 38 I think due to disliking the tedious and boring nature of it, but it sounds like it gets better later...so may revisit them. Good vid, either way; listened while doing dailies. :D
Been playing FFXIV for 2 years and love all healers job! I like SGE and pretty much easy to grasp since it's combination from WHM+SCH while also great in healing overtime due to nature of addersgall that need to be spent for MP gain. But sadly SGE is also bad at post death, cuz we are lacking of recovery tool unlike SCH Great vid mate!
Gonna try WM for healing, never played a healer before so I gotta get the basics down, I usually play tank or dps ,🤔gonna have to get used to watching the party's hp instead of the mobs and boss 🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣✌🏾 great informative video
Warrior is my favorite healer this expansion.
😂😂😂😂
True 😂 I’m working on leveling SCH as my 3rd healing class and some dungeons the warrior keeps himself above 75% and I do nothing but dps
Blue Healer
Itz so true .. he is tank+DPS+ healer .. I hope he doesn't hget nerfed -_-
Warrior is a healer for himself only but not for another team member sadly on that part PLD wins
Been looking for a good video to show how it "feels to play" each class, but so many vids are so narrowly focused on stats - really appreciate this format - thanks!!
Your welcome!! The sole focus of this video and my other comparison guides! So glad it helped!
I picked up Astro as my first healer a few years ago and have mained it ever since. Definitely took a little bit to get used to, as it is quite busy, but over time the button presses become second nature. Also helps when you are big into the aesthetic!
Definitely it’s second nature to me after playing it for over a year now
I cant help but laugh so hard at this conversation simply because of your names. Galactic orange and nuclear pickle having a conversation ahha
your guys names are the absolute best
I love white mage, its the best dps class and it can also heal
Yeaaaa sage was an interesting experience
Sage have a hard time between lvl 35 to 47 dunjon your skill consume a lot of PM pack can be big and your only ability in Physis or kardia boost none of witch can absorbe starting pull damage spike... on the other hand the tank is also limited in is own cooldown...
I pronounce Astrologian the same way! I'm still levelling my first healer (WHM), which I love, but Sage looks exciting to play so I'll be levelling it next I think. Your Practical Healing guide for WHM was super helpful when I was overcoming my healer anxiety :)
aww thanks "D
The correct pronunciation
Yea once you get the hang of it it’s really nice!
@@BunBossFFXIV It is really nice! Definitely became one of my favorites. 😁
White mage is quite fun imo. Simple and potent powerful as well offensively with holy spam which chain stuns.
so basically what im getting at is that white mage is perfect for me
i have no issue with simple healers like that who just does what they are supposed to do and thats it XD
i will say i also love sage for how much cooldown focused it feels
as in it has so many cooldown spells even at lvl 70 where mine is at that can do big things
so i rarely have to cast heals apart from shield heals as i can just pop my various cooldowns when needed
I aim to do all heals. Each has their own advantage in some way and since I typically heal like to do all. Easy way to change it up and never get bored :)
Main is Scholar love my little fairy but adore sage too. Favourite colour is blue and nearly everything is blue.
Astro main for life
aww welcome to FFXIV! Astro is super fun
It deals little damage and cant play it in solo content. How do you manage?
I usually play tanks. But when i heal its as Astro. bombhealers unit.
Okay, you worded sage far better than I ever could ! Nice description, spot on.
oh thank you so much!
Deployment tacticts doesn't spread a critted shield, just the non crit part
SCH, for internet with bad latency, SCH mobility is awesome.
-no castime atk, so you can just move around doing mechanics while keep your damage.
-fairy helps healing
-no castime panic button to save tank, party or damage mitigation for party with aetherfflow, and you can have up to 9 ammo.
-ease of use. I think helps healing anxiety.
just got my sch to 61, an suddenly became my fave
haha thats awesome congrats!~
Mitigate dmg is better than healing sometimes especially if you can do dps as well.
holy is great hahaha
I agree, Sage was a little tricky to learn after maining WHM. It was well worth the effort and love it! Solid video :)
Fortunately for me leveling Scholar helped a little in getting the mindset of trying to prevent the damage before it comes out.
hahah thank you! and yes, it was rough cakes at first
For real! Switching to SGE after playing WHM the entire game has been a learning curve. I still struggle to get the timing down.
I personally found that once I wrapped my head around Eukrasia, I found it to be the most aggressive healer of them all.
Haven't touched my whm in a bit except for it to catch up to my sage at lv 90.
glad you like it!
@@jodavitow i dont have exact numbers on anything, I'm just speaking from my observations from being on the receiving end of sage healing and comment threads talking about it (since I don't play Sage yet) and Sages always seem to struggle in dungeon pulls, even at higher lvl EW dungeons
They do fine in ex trials though
You're playing it wrong, you need to stack abilities properly.
Thanks as always and always looking forward to your content!👌✌
aww thank you imperium! I am super glad to hear that, this is the kinda support I need in 2022 haha
Haven’t played in over 5 years, looking to get into it again. Feel like a new player. Scholar sounds like a blast.
Though I have not gotten used to using Holy during pulls yet
yea that can throw alot of people off
AST main pivoting to SGE... but they're so different it's housed for me to choose one over the other!
I did the same haha
Played back in 2019 for a while but eventually dropped it for other things.
Was gonna pick it up again recently but the sales had been suspended ( :( ), so I'm waiting for 25th to grab it on PC (was PS before) and jump into White Mage again (was my main from console too); albeit Conjurer technically since I intend on making a new toon and starting again (it's been a while, wanna relearn everything from scratch... ideally properly).
Just started playing FFXIV 5 months ago. Picked up BLM, then switched to SCH like two weeks ago. I LOVE IT
yay!
I love sage so much especially when tanks hard pull. Getting stacks of toxicon and setting up for a dps window is so much fun. Combine that with a dk hard pulling gives back the dks former glory in the defense department. Hope you get your long awaited rework soon dk.
Yea dk needs a rework real bad haha
I just came back to play and of course started to play Sage, loving!
great!
WHM is my favorite. It is more simple but I love it and it looks pretty. SGE is fun though, it keeps you busy.
it is simple and some people love that
I main all heals. It took me only one dungeon to realize that as a sage I can literally go brain dead and heal. Ast is the one I take if I want to actually do something that requires my attention. I like all healers. But when going into the unknown ima have to say whm for them raw heals. Sch is the one I take for dungeons that i need auto heals so i can focus on specific targets while fairy heals.
hahah them raw heals lmao
Red Mage in Bozja with Ordained and Lost Cure 4 is my favorite healer.
Hahahah
1:00 suggesting learning using medica 2 while showing the far better heal on screen, holy, and not mentioning it is exactly why most new healers over heal everything.
This was just background footage to play. As I said in the beginning in the video on screen you can just listen too it.
Some slight corrections:
WHM: liturgy of the bell is not a healing over time necessarily.
It's so short that it rarely pops more than once on the auto heal, but too long to use as like a delayed heal for big damage
yea maybe it will get one!
6.1 Healer Ranking:
1) Astrologian (AST).
2) Scholar (SCH).
3) White Mage (WHM).
4) Sage (SGE).
It really is! I love it!
Scholar is the best. Gotta go fast skill is so useful in so many situations.
Deciding which healer to pick up as my first and I think I will go AST. I have heard it is the most difficult but I just love it thematically.
I feel like that is why all people who play astro started with astro and then they were like "omg this is so op haha"
You should do sage it really is a super fun class!
I've mained healing since 2.0. Originally was a white mage, switch to scholar around 2.3 until SHB when it felt... off to me. That was when I switched to astro. And now I'm a sage lol.
Hahaha sage is op right now and so nice to play
Sage is fun to play but I'm no good at it yet. I come from a DPS background so and although I did level a white mage to lvl 72 a long time ago, I wanted to try this new class. It reminds me of disc priests in WoW.
I Just started 1 month ago and Im White mage main since day 1, I love It so much and is even more fun After level 50 😁
😍😍🤩
What preset are you using for reshade/gshade etc?
its just navidia graphics card panel not gshade
I have played White Mage ever since 1.0 and will continue to do so until the day they give us a FF3-style Devout, (upgraded white mage essentially)
Ooo that would be cool!
Healer gap closer is actually hella great to me.
for sure agree!
So what if I limit break III the notification bell and it snaps my iPad in half or something?? Will I receive a replacement?
🤦♀️😅😂😂😂 that is the funniest reply I have ever gotten from that lmaoo!
My favorite is Sage, then Astro, white mage and scholar last but I am still trying to give scholar a chance
This made the only two things WHM had on AST being that it does more personal DPS (good at the start of a tier when players are in low gear but worse at the end of a tier when AST's buffs have more base player gear stats to boost into the stratosphere) and AOE stun on Holy, which is useful for 4 man content and field content like Eureka/Bozja (but the EW Relic stuff isn't in the game yet)
So right now, WHM either needs an MP management buff, Potencies to be buffed to be higher than AST again, a major buff to Thin Air, and/or a buff to damage.
Yes! Let's hope we get more on the next live letter
I will never stop being a white mage main!
Sage Main and it was tough at the beginning i even doubted myself after some KOs and wipes while tank pulled many mobs … but Sage is fun and as you said just need to understand that Sage is the green DPS that keeps team in great shape AND DPS. It’s almost like overhealing style. Just after i was happy to play with my ASTRO again but Sage is soooo funny to play i can’t get my hands out of it xD
yea I feel the same way.
Sage main since Endwalker yeah I would think so lol.
@@cruxis7072 true I might need to modify that xD
@@BunBossFFXIV as main healer bunny girl yes we do have something’s in common 😏😉

It’s so cool how diff they all feel tho tbh
I think my fav is sage tho, I appreciate that it has the most dps skills lolz
They really do all feel so different which is kinda nice
I love AST but it's just so damn busy in Endwalker. Ideally you would want all buffs to stack but after using Divination, cards, Astrodyne, and give the tank a little something so they don't go splat there's so little time to take advantage of the buffs yourself which normally wouldn't bother me but with Astrodyne it does. There are just so so many ogcds. I liked previous expansion ASTs better. Macrocosmos is nuts though.
Yea it can be pretty rough. I think they’ll end up adjusting it somehow or even button condensed would be nice
I feel like I'm the only AST main that liked the simplified card system in ShB lol. I don't want to be that busy when the RDM throws themself off the platform. 😅😋
Macrocosomos is 😍😍😍 My husband tanks for me and every time I'm about to use it, I tell him "watch, watch! BOOM, what damage?" 🤣
I hate whm I don’t like how gcd heavy it is and it’s mp economy atm is shit
ooff those white mage comments are all too reall right now. They are feeling pretty bland
Sage has so many dps options that at times I forget that I'm healer. At times I look at my hot bar and ask "What button HAVEN'T I pressed?!"

Yay! New video!
😅💜💜💜
what is the shield priority between scholar and sage if this even exists, in a trail is it the first person to cast a shield or the second? and does adderstinger take effect if the shield is broken by being overwritten by a different shield?
Thank you so much!
Great video! Recitation should really just be used for indom. Crit aldo DT if you can get a free roll out of it on downtime maybe, but it's a dps loss when minmaxing.
I only use recitation before pulls, but this isn’t a minmaxing kinda channel lol 😂
on dungeons recitation + excog I feel is much better. Heals about the same but you get an extra aetherflow to use as healing or damage, plus the extra 10 fairy gauge.
recitation + excog is a good tankbuster tool too if you know you won't need the AoE indom heal for the next 90 s
Astro/Sage split seems like the way to go! Is the top raw healing class still a WHM tho despite their "simple get the job done approach"?
Yes pretty much. But with all the mitigation and other things that the other classes have now, it’s not enough to convince me to play white mage ya know
@@BunBossFFXIV I guess it becomes a am I watching Naruto and playing or am I doing Savage and need my attention 🤣
I also really disliked Arcane Mage, a spec that entirely revolved around managing its mana; and while I don't really enjoy playing Black Mage, I do still like the Sage mana management.
yea the mp management is really good on sage.
Aw thank you pink I am glad to help!
Gonna go with Scholar as I get Summoner too, so 2 for 1 😀
genius hahaha
I'm really hoping AST is in its usual state of being a mess at expansion launch and eventually gets patched into a good form again. New spells are fun and its got potential but its a freaking mess of a job at 90. Too many things to do and nothing really fits with one another. I'm a AST main playing only Sage. I actually just leveled my WHM up because I really dislike how chaotic AST rotation has been updated in the latest expansion. Hoping for some fixes!
AST being the best healer... lol, its great that you have SO MUCH to do.
I would just love some button condensing, even just for play and draw and minor arcana would be great.
Haha I love sage as well it’s so good
i prefer sch over sge. fairy being able to act as a healing totem is one of my favorite aspects about the job and is no longer a janky, unresponsive mess, and i like aetherflow as an mp management system over burning addersgall. expedient is a lot more fun to use as a capstone than pneuma is, like pneuma is cool but you only really use it as a heal. zoomies are a lot more entertaining and it's fun to try and find places where you can get value out of the mit and the movement. i also prefer seraph over panhaima, tho both are powerful abilities. i still enjoy sge but for any serious content i 100% prefer sch. sch does still have a lot of problems and sge feels really smooth and nice to play, but i mained it in shb and i don't want to abandon it, especially with the qol changes
Sage makes the disc priest in me weep with joy
Lmao I never played that
Thank you so much for this!

You need to have another lvl 50 job to start AST, but the AST itself starts with lvl 30 :)
Astro starts at level 30, but you cannot unlock until your a level 50 job in heavensward. same for dark knight and machinist.
I'm doubling down to work my way to astrologian something about it just calls to me but i started the game like a week ago so it's gonna take me a while
I always pronounce astrologian as astronomer and im not even mad about it. Im so happy i leveled sage after playing WHM and AST it made it so much easier!
yea i struggled at first, cuz i was like wait whats going on haha
I have never healed in any MMO in the last 20 years until this game. I have never tanked either. I finally tried healing with a WHM...yes. It is so easy, that it is boring. I wanted to try sage and WHOA. It is so interesting. Thank you so much for your guides.
Your welcome to glad they help out!
Wait… how do people pronounce Astrologian if not by the pronunciation stated at 4:39?
I couldnt tell you, but I always get crap on my pronunciations hahah to be fair sometimes, i get tongue tied and mispronounce words, but eh its part of the charm haha
You forgot to add macrocosmo which has microcosmo which is a heal damage spell at 90 for AST
Eh it was just a general discussion not specifically going over each ability. That’s what the practical healing guide is for astro is for 😅🤣
I used to be a main WHM from day one and until the start of Endwalker.
Sage is the disciple priest of ff ngl
After watching The Case Study of Vanitas I had to pick Scholar :)
Which healers have a revive spell?
All of them
They all do!
I started FF in November as an Arcanist, and went Scholar (bit of summoner but meh.) Went Samurai from SB > EW end.
Anyways, after getting to 86/87 on my scholar, I realized that I kept losing motivation to level. At that point, I thought "well, I was gonna wait till I hit 90 on scholar, but I don't wanna level it atm so may as well try Sage."
The difference is huge, and it became clear why I was getting bored with scholar.
you should pick up all healers. I think youll like the 90 versions of them the most
How do you make your game look so nice? May I ask the mods/shader?
No its just actually the nivida graphics card that comes with the computer. I don't use any third party downloads or anything.
Been playing FFXIV for 2 years and love all healers job!
I like SGE and pretty much easy to grasp since it's combination from WHM+SCH while also great in healing overtime due to nature of addersgall that need to be spent for MP gain.
But sadly SGE is also bad at post death, cuz we are lacking of recovery tool unlike SCH
Great vid mate!
Addersgall is basically like lilys but in not shit.
hahah I do too!
Gonna try WM for healing, never played a healer before so I gotta get the basics down, I usually play tank or dps ,🤔gonna have to get used to watching the party's hp instead of the mobs and boss 🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣✌🏾 great informative video
Do it!
