In Japan 'Limited Edition' culture is omnipresent. From Chocolate bars, soft drinks, coffees, fast food, clothing, watches, cars, etc. They LOVE a Limited Edition over there. Seiko & Grand Seiko will NEVER stop releasing Limited Editions. Just make your peace with it.

I completely agree with the military, navy specificity issue... a general release makes more sense... then again, i bet these sell really well regardless 😊 awesome video this week as always and its certainly part of my morning routine. As a GS owner I agree about their bracelet. Instead of releasing limited editions they should work and release better bracelets with micro adjustments….
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from amzwatch I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.

It honestly depends on the watch. Rolex milsubs were specifically for military divers and they're still a great looking watch on a civilian. Same with the Raf g shock.
These gold releases... I kinda wonder who is wearing them save people in the Middle East and South East Asia. I own a 50's gold OP and I can't even remember the last time I wore it vis a vis ongoing security issues. I might say the same for the Submariner I own. More and more I'm starting to ask myself, 'What exactly is the point of owning certain watches you never/can't really wear?'
I agree with your point that squadron watches should be limited to current and former members, and not be released to the general public - maybe immediate family members. No need to make money off of posers.

Grand Seiko obviously have a stockpile of approx. two zillion units of those bracelets, so expect an upgrade no later than 2095. 😉 (Totally understand your armed forces / navy watch viewpoint).
There's nothing "unfortunate" about a caller GMT vs a traveller. I refuse to buy a traveller GMT. They are a PITA. I much prefer caller GMT. Quick set GMT hand. Quick set date. Much better. The quick-set hour hand on a traveller GMT isn't actually an advantage. I'm not a pilot, but pilots use the bezel for the local time when they go places. Why unscrew a crown, wearing out the crown, just to hack the hour, then screw it back in, when you can turn the bezel instead? Anyways, not to be too negative here - I love your recaps. Thanks.
Having had multiple watches on both sides, I still prefer the traveler GMT because I travel a lot. Don’t need to hack, no need to think, just set the local time during touch down and you are set, GMT hand shows home time, the end. Also had a few watches that were not GMTs but Thad independent hour hand adjustment, like Grand Seikos and Panerais sometimes do. Very convenient. Also the date changes with the local time where you are, not the home time. So it just makes more sense when traveling. When tracking a different time at home ie for meetings and projects, I prefer the caller gmt and set the GMT hand to the away time. For this use cases the traveler gmt sucks.
You aren't hacking but you are still unscrewing and rescrewing the crown and if you are jetlagged you might forget if you've done that already. With changing the rotating bezel - you just know the GMT offset of where you are and then can just check that it is correct, and most pilots prefer that. I prefer the hour and minute hand and date to always be on home time so I don't miss birthdays at home and easily know what time it is to call people and I know if it's AM or PM as I can check the GMT hand. I prefer the GMT hand to aways be GMT for this reason. Anyway it's personal preference and I always prefer caller as I read local time off the bezel.
Finally people are calling out grand seiko for their bs with limited editions and exclusives. Just make a watch and sell it. Let people buy no matter what region they are from. Also, time to do some complications already. I know you can.

First time in a while I haven’t been dumbfounded by a Panerai release. Very handsome. Now please make a submersible with a fully graduated bezel!

That Trident gmt looks great, unlike their other very Rolexy one. The Hanhart too is a peach.
