I remember and often used to listen to these when I was a kid. My recollection is that they were recorded on Period Records. Amazing how much is available to students today from so many wonderful artists and pedagogues. Thanks very much for posting these pieces and so many others performed by Starker.
He had his niche in Indiana. I attended many Saturday master classes and played in one of them embarrassing myself. Although he didn’t take me as a student I’m a much better cellist today by far because of my contact with Mr. Starker. I only heard of his passing several years later. As I recall, he smoked heavily during his master classes. The huge ashtray on on side and the cello on the other side. Though I wish he could have given up smoking, he most certainly got every once out of his life.
Amazing!!!!!! Thank you so much for uploading.

Always so amazing to see pictures and to remember him as a teacher. He truly enjoyed his role as Soloist and Pedagogue. What an amazing man to know!
What a wonderful, splendid touching, harmony of sound! Thank you very much, Mr. Hamilton Cheifetz.
Starker was one of the giants of the cello. Genius player and teacher. Thank you Hamilton for posting these gems!
