  • In this video, we are going to perform serial dilution calculations. We will solve a practice problem related to serial dilution. Here's the question:
    Starting with 5 mg/mL and using a total volume of 10 mL at each step, calculate the final concentration after a 3-step serial dilution at 1:10.

    Thank you! I was close to being burnout but learning and understanding how to use DF gave me a new surge of energy. Your video was actually the 10th I've watched to learn serial dilution. Thank you so much!
    Could you please make a video on using calibration curve/line regression to find the value of an unknown concentration with absorption? I haven't found a video that I understood well and all of them always seem to skim past what values to use to calculate the slope of the line when it isn't given.

      Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment. I'm so glad the video helps. Thanks for the request. However, I'm pausing on releasing new videos at the moment but I'll add your request to the list though. All the best with DF!

    A 200 mg concentration is diluted 1:20 , and further diluted to 1: 5, then what is the final concentration?

    Thanks for the explanation. What if we do not know the concentration of the stock solution?

    • @ChemSimplified
      @ChemSimplified  2 āļ›āļĩāļ—āļĩāđˆāđāļĨāđ‰āļ§

      You're most welcome. If you're asked to find the final concentration and is not given the concentration of stock solution, then you should be given information on how the stock solution was prepared. For example, 200 mg of solute was dissolved in sufficient deionized water to produce a 100mL solution. In this case, the concentration will be 2mg/mL. Hope this helps.

      You can create a worksheet on excel to auto calculate for you using the dilution formula.
