Love Hate Love live at the Moore is UNTOUCHABLE PERFECTION performed live by a rock band. All other rock bands should strive to have a live performance this perfect.
Actually this is not 1992. It's from December 1990. The Moore is a small theater in Seattle with GREAT acoustics.
As a song, you have to listen to it from the mindset of a sociopath.
Layne Staley's vocal range can run rings around any other grunge singer (including Chris Cornell) in my opinion. Layne could sing the phone book and never hit a wrong note. Even at the end of his life, with no teeth and a lisp, his voice, wit and humor were all still there. Layne's voice and vocal range was so powerful he did NOT need auto tune or pro-tools until he lost his teeth and had a lisp around 1998, and even then he still killed the vocals.
Barrett Martin (who played with Layne in Mad Season) said that when he stood to the side of the stage, he could hear the sound of Layne vocal resonance come out of Layne's chest LOUDER than it did coming out of the speakers, Layne's voice was that powerful.

Entire performance (all the songs from this set) - fucking flawless. You can tell just by watching……he means & feels every word. This song, although sounds a little ‘off’- it’s perfect b/c it’s what makes it soooo haunting and hard hitting. I get chills every time he starts ‘you told me Im the only one’….he sings with his entire body.

@@dmusiclife5727 ~ No doubt, dude. I put it right up there with, to me, perhaps the most riveting performance of any singer in video recorded history: Janis Joplin singing 'Ball And Chain' at Monterey; that one still gives me chills.
I'm sure there is a number of younger viewers out there that have never seen it, or even heard of her, maybe you can fit this one into your Reactions when time permits: th-cam.com/video/X1zFnyEe3nE/w-d-xo.html

A 4 piece band sounding like an orchestra! Unmatched and was lucky enough to have lived in Seattle in 1980s and 90s. Saw them for cheap. Bar to bar in beginning then venue to venue. Was the most fun I've had! Seattle was buzzing back then! Music heaven! 💞✌

Nancy Wilson of Heart said she had never heard anyone like Layne, she said music exploded out of him, not just from the microphone but he literally shock the stage and performers would gather at the sides of the stage because of his shear unmatched power. She also said singers like him only come around once in a lifetime if your lucky…and she has killer pipes herself✝️✝️✝️

Man. Love the reaction. This is EXACTLY how I felt when I heard this song on YT. I would have never thought anything live would have sounded so good. It kills the studio version and almost makes the studio version sound like the mambi-pambi version - studio lacks all of this power and emotion.

Their performance was awesome. Layne Staley is so very missed in this world. Will never be another like him. This is my favorite song ❤️
