I like how the video discusses how every little nudge adds up to algorithms influencing and changing behaviors, warns against the dangers of this being unregulated and then seconds later closes by asking people to engage further with the algorithm. Good stuff. Tell me when to watch your next video!!

We should be fearful of those who control the variables of the development of ai. Humans are slow learners and media induces a lot of fear and ai sees that so already we are teaching it our destructive way instead of our true nature of nurture and nature.

Just think: control by fear seems to be a trend these days. Perhaps avoiding the media taunting might be worth consideration.

And worryingly, there will eventually be enough devices simultaneously online to mimic the neuron activity of a brain. We don't know for definite that its possible, it's an unknown. But consider, there is, a crucial tipping point to intelligence coming soon. We'll be showing it everything we've done, hundreds of years of video, data and giving it the keys, all in an instant.

What scares me is the position that once a robot reaches the point in evolution where it becomes self aware, that the robot be given human privileges and rights.

Rational is stupid if you also believe in Pi or root two...Most numbers are unwrite-able...mind-numbing, don't compute.Back to AI...useful for filtering enormous datasets and running billions of simulation to find optimal solutions. Good or bad depends in part on what it's used for, but there is also the problem of the neural network black box where we see the result but not the working. All tools have limits.

    • @SuperYtc1

Because Pi and root 2 don’t actually exist. They are theoretical.

Like what was stated herein, whether or not a machine is evil or not is currently up to the designers and operators of the software and hardware. If or when a machine achieves human conciseness, we are all in trouble.

If we achieve extremely intelligent machines then we shall be able to develop better treatments , better and cheaper electronics.we shall be able to develop efficient engines and develop efficient ways to degrade waste of various kinds in new ways.we shall eliminate viral diseases.we shall develop better engines to explore space and teraform Mars and the moon since the initial stages are best and safely done by robots that could be linked to a single AI brain on Earth and do various tasks on the moon and Mars. We could develop fusion quickly and we may not need to spend on large particle accelerators that are expensive.we might solve complex problems in astrophysics etc.we could develop ways of teaching children at home etc.we could instantly jump to a type 11 civilization and save our wild life, oceans and forests .

If we create the perfect being (A.I.) it will become our god in a sence. Generations being born always learning and growing through A.I. How much of our humanity might be lost in the future?

How much of our humanity has already been lost by parents plugging their young children into the internet, to keep them quiet with the excuse that they'll drop behind their peers if they're not on it, whilst those very same adults stare at their own screens?

What does Brian Cox know about AI? He's a physicist / ex musician, not a computer scientist. That's like asking a car mechanic the finer details of embroidery knitting (the most Brian could tell you is some anticipated energy expenditure for a runnaway automated process) There seems to be very little substantive quality information on AI, and a too sizable gap emerging between laymans and experts in terms of knowledge. Current day AI is not incomprehensible, it's build using very tangible concepts im sure most people could grasp...to pontificate about AI however, one should at least have some formal grasp of how AI systems are constructed, otherwise you're just wasting energy. I should start a TH-cam channel.
