    Love that they put this engine in the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade. Hopefully there won’t be too many problems with it, because it gets great fuel economy and it sounds really cool. That instant torque has to be addictive. The main worry with this engine is that belt that’s bathed in oil. It’s guaranteed 150k miles, but it’s a pain to get to.

    • @blueryxfalls7949
      @blueryxfalls7949 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Eh if the truck treats you well in those 150k miles, and you manage to get a decent price on the belt change and then go for another 150k miles it might not be THAT bad. Still a mediocre design though, sadly this might be one of the last GOOD diesels that consumers could get before the electrical apocalypse

    • @pascutia
      @pascutia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blueryxfalls7949 If nothing happens for the first 150k miles with that belt, I agree. Curious if there are gonna be any other issues with this engine. But in theory, it’s really cool. I’d totally get this over the 5.3 and even the 6.2. Instant torque, really good mpgs for what it is, and I love the straight 6 sound.

    Solid, thorough, efficient review. Great job. Just a comment. I've never heard anyone mention this, about the Denali or AT4, but it's big for me. That center console area where the charging station and cup holders are, it has what appear to be flat or near flat, padded rails on either side; move the sliding console back a bit to create a little extra room lengthwise, and it's a perfect place to put my laptop, even use it, or at least watch streaming quotes, while I drive, and certainly while parked. Add the wifi hot spot and its a great mobile work station. And with the various options of power outlets in the Yukons, I wouldn't even have to drain my laptop battery, just plug it in. The Denali side rails in the cup holder area are longer than the AT4's, so likely better for this, but both would work. Love it. That particular feature may well in the end be why I go the Yukon instead of the Escalade route, since the Escalade does not have it. A benefit of moving the gear shifter up onto the dash. Though I do wish the Yukons offered the massaging seats as an option, that would be nice on those long days, work days in the car or otherwise.

It went through the cycle at least once a day. I hope that has been changed in these new diesels. @@Zach-td5mb even if what you said was true (it is not), it still does not make any sense to purchase an 80k brand new car based on its hypothetical future reliability.
      reliability is just one part of the cost of ownership, in itself is not a virtue. it just means it will cost you less in repairs, in the same way that an efficient car will cost you less in fuel prices.

      @@alh06 First of all, it is all up to you, I cannot judge you on what you want to do. But in a pure objective manner, it would not make sense to purchase a new car if you wish to keep it for very long.
      If you plan to own a car for a very long time, you are evidently not concerned with "keeping up" with fresh models, which is perfectly fine.
      Furthermore, if you're seeking reliability in a fresh car already, then the second hand car is going to be reliable as well, and that reliability will be much more valuable on a used car, and that used car will presumably have proven its reliability as well.
      So, if you're not concerned with keeping up with new cars, and are planning on buying a reliable car already, then I cannot see any reason to pay so much more for the premium of a brand new car.
      Again, I will not and cannot judge you for your preferences, but to me pricing this car at 80k because it can go past 200k makes no sense.

    Will the air shocks adjust when driving or only when parked?

    • @chadmark88

      If you want the vehicle to be as high as it can be, you have to be in four-wheel LOW range - so, you'd have to change that first. You can NOT drive in the "exit" ( lowest setting ) You can set it to go down to that setting when you put it in park.

    And a diesel question to supplement my comment below, two questions actually: I like the greatly improved mpg of the diesel, but I am concerned that I won't reliably and conveniently be able to find a diesel pump at a filling station when I need it, as I drive around my state locally, Utah, or the few states around me where I do so much skiing, or as I drive around the country. Any thoughts on this? And two, regarding sufficient power of the diesel, how well do you think it would do accelerating to pass other vehicles going up steep hills on highways when already driving 70+ mph? Thank you.

      @@BIGGIEBAG-XL for $70k you can get any mercedes SUV almost fully loaded, same with BMW. If you need something that has the power to tow stuff just buy a pickup truck.
