Exfoliating shouldn't be "slowly incorporated more into your routine." It should just be used once or twice a week. 🙂

That is why I don't trust skincare influencer. I mean how do they even know which product is actually working when they apply tons of product all together.

It depends on what your skin can tolerate and how strong the product is. There are always exceptions. For example, PHA is a type of exfoliating acid that is so gentle that you can use everyday. This is not to say that there are no stronger acid that you can use everyday though. You just gotta know your skin.

    • @1CE.

      This right here
You can also just incorporate a salicylic acid wash. You really should only physically exfoliate for something like a date just cuz you wanna look extra good

@@umrahasan South Africa. I mean it's not cheap but definitely not as expensive as Skinceuticals and Lamer so I was exaggerating a little.
But everytime I go to the pharmacy to buy the Cerave bumpy cream and cleanser the shop assistants ask me why I want to always buy the expensive one.
And I'm a student so it's way above most student's budget. For the price of the cream you can buy very decent groceries for a week.
E.g Raspberries, blueberries, Yogurt, Stirfry vegetables, Spinach, Bok Choy, Baby carrots and Baby corn and Quinoa and Chickpeas. And Chicken breasts.
Provided you have other non-perishables at home.
I do also think South Africa has high import tariffs hence the price

I tried like 100$ cleansers and only when I switched to cetaphil and cerave did my skin barrier fix. It’s not even about expensive vs inexpensive, it depends on your skin, my skin is very sensitive and can’t handle many ingredients. And hyaluronic acid breaks me out. It’s not the price tag but rather the ingredients that your skin would rather have.

I've never used retinol before, and didn't know much about it. Recently I've been doing more research on how to take better care of my skin (I have fairly bad eczema) and hair. Everyone I've seen online recommends using retinol for helping your skin, sadly I can't use it due to my eczema. It can cause breakouts and itchiness because it's a skin irritant for me.
Make sure to do research that suits your skin type. Exfoliating every day isn't good for certain skin types, and if you live in a cold environment you might not want to do it every day or more than once a week because it may cause dry skin issues. Obviously that depends on the person's skin, as well as diet and environment, but do what is best for you. I'd highly recommend finding some good dermatologists who have YT channels or dermatologist websites that can help with recommending good tips and products.

Like Laura in the sky, less IS more big skincare mistakes that absolutely ruin your skin: using too many sc products, it should be one cleanser, one serum, one moisturizer and then one sunscreen to prevent irritation and acne, over exfoliating, and if you’re a tween, don’t cleanse your face twice a day do it when you’re 13-17 so it won’t dry out your skin too much. This might not be right for your skin, but this is just based on my experience. Edit: and don’t forget to wear spf 40+ sunscreen!

My friend got me a youth to the people cleanser. I was shocked to see that it was $40!!! I normally use a $10 one that works fine. However, what I’ve noticed is that the expensive cleanser has lasted me all year. I use it every day and there’s still some left. Sometimes I wonder if it’s more cost effective (for me) to get the expensive cleanser vs repurchasing my cheaper one a few times a year 🤔
Make sure to think about long term costs!

Less products you use on your face, the better. A cleanser, moisturizer, and then occasion acne treatment should be all you need. I also found that gua shaing your face brings blood into your face, causing smaller acne spots to disappear quicker (ofc always wash your gua sha before use or else you will break out from the bacteria build up). I'm not a pro, these are just things that worked for me ;D

No it’s not bad you should be cleansing daily and exfoliating with a scrub at home is fine to do once a week to remove build up and dead skin don’t forget to moisturize daily and apply sunscreen during the day, you can use a toner after cleansing and during the day to refreshen up your skin and help with oil buildup if you have oily skin. Don’t forget to see an Esthetician who can help you choose the best skincare products for your skin type to get the best results for your skin tik tok is NOT your skin care specialist!

retinol has many side affects when starting to use it including more acne, redness, dry or peely skin, and slight irritation, but that just means its working. it takes 4-6 weeks for your skin to adjust to retinol and you should start out using a small amount of it in your pm routine, the results are worth it to a lot of people
