Exfoliating shouldn't be "slowly incorporated more into your routine." It should just be used once or twice a week. 🙂

That is why I don't trust skincare influencer. I mean how do they even know which product is actually working when they apply tons of product all together.

It depends on what your skin can tolerate and how strong the product is. There are always exceptions. For example, PHA is a type of exfoliating acid that is so gentle that you can use everyday. This is not to say that there are no stronger acid that you can use everyday though. You just gotta know your skin.

    • @1CE.

      This right here
You can also just incorporate a salicylic acid wash. You really should only physically exfoliate for something like a date just cuz you wanna look extra good

Different strength and exfoliaters , PHA's and gentler ones can be used more but if its High Strength Glycolic or Salycilic Acid then yeah twice a week .

@@umrahasan South Africa. I mean it's not cheap but definitely not as expensive as Skinceuticals and Lamer so I was exaggerating a little.
But everytime I go to the pharmacy to buy the Cerave bumpy cream and cleanser the shop assistants ask me why I want to always buy the expensive one.
And I'm a student so it's way above most student's budget. For the price of the cream you can buy very decent groceries for a week.
E.g Raspberries, blueberries, Yogurt, Stirfry vegetables, Spinach, Bok Choy, Baby carrots and Baby corn and Quinoa and Chickpeas. And Chicken breasts.
Provided you have other non-perishables at home.
I do also think South Africa has high import tariffs hence the price

I tried like 100$ cleansers and only when I switched to cetaphil and cerave did my skin barrier fix. It’s not even about expensive vs inexpensive, it depends on your skin, my skin is very sensitive and can’t handle many ingredients. And hyaluronic acid breaks me out. It’s not the price tag but rather the ingredients that your skin would rather have.

I've never used retinol before, and didn't know much about it. Recently I've been doing more research on how to take better care of my skin (I have fairly bad eczema) and hair. Everyone I've seen online recommends using retinol for helping your skin, sadly I can't use it due to my eczema. It can cause breakouts and itchiness because it's a skin irritant for me.
Make sure to do research that suits your skin type. Exfoliating every day isn't good for certain skin types, and if you live in a cold environment you might not want to do it every day or more than once a week because it may cause dry skin issues. Obviously that depends on the person's skin, as well as diet and environment, but do what is best for you. I'd highly recommend finding some good dermatologists who have YT channels or dermatologist websites that can help with recommending good tips and products.

Like Laura in the sky, less IS more big skincare mistakes that absolutely ruin your skin: using too many sc products, it should be one cleanser, one serum, one moisturizer and then one sunscreen to prevent irritation and acne, over exfoliating, and if you’re a tween, don’t cleanse your face twice a day do it when you’re 13-17 so it won’t dry out your skin too much. This might not be right for your skin, but this is just based on my experience. Edit: and don’t forget to wear spf 40+ sunscreen!

Look at retinol especially I had a really bad chemical reaction to using it for some small acne on my face. It turned out bad and my face is still sensitive after not using it for a while. Be careful!

Same. I had a perfect clear skin since forever and now my face is full of bumps. My dermatologist said I have an allergic reaction to the retinol in my serum.

You maybe allergic to an ingredient in something you're using or maybe you're using something that's too harsh for your skin barrier because that's not normal

    My skincare routine:
    - Clinique acne solution foaming cleanser (or the face washing bar)
    - Clinique acne solution clarifying lotion
    - Clinique acne solution clearing cream
    - Roll my face w a rose quartz roller every other days (I put it in my skincare fridge so it’s nice and cold)
    - Mario Badescu lavender or rose water spray for a glow
I also exfoliate 3 times a week (usually the days I use the roller)

make sure you remember that everyone had different needs for their skin.
i for example, only use micellar cleansing water to remove my makeup, moisturizer in the morning and in the evening.
i used to wash my face with cold water in the morning and the evenings but found my face being better when i stopped washing my face.

Just gonna say exfoliating on a daily basis AND using a retinol at the same time is actually pretty harsh for your skin, so you should probably just choose one or the other unless your skin is super strong- but both together can easily destroy your skin barrier

  • @afsarabintetazul687
    @afsarabintetazul687 ปีที่แล้ว +2

This might sound weird, i dont double cleanse using cleansing balm. Using any cleansing balm broke me out. So i use a water based cleanser first and then a facewash.
Dont always let pple make your skincare routine. It took me months to understand whats wrong and what to use. And you can get a clear skin using only four steps- moisturizer, sunscreen, double cleanse and exfoliate(which worked for me)

My skincare as a 12 year old -
    1) cleanser (exfoliate twice a month)
    2) ice
    3) Hyaluronic hydrating serum ( I know it is unnecessary, I only use it twice a week)
    4) moisturizer
    5) sunscreen

i switch between my two cleansers:
A foam cleanser and just a normal like scrub cleanser.
I switch between 2 specific moisturizers (after washing my face)
    -one is for calming it
-the other is to soften and tone
I also do face masks once a week
(i’m 13 yrs old so i can’t constantly ask my mom for face masks)

Then I doing research about the ingredient, now I am happy with some affordable Korean product. Not every pricey product do wonder, just because the brand spent more money on marketing.

I started exfoliating every other week then once a week. Got up to twice a week. Did that for a few weeks and everything was fine until it wasn't. My skin told me 2x a week was too much. I'm using retinol. I'm back down to once a week or every other week. I listen to my skin. I needed more initially not so much anymore. I'd rather use my retinol more often than the exfoliator.

I just use a cleansing gel and moistruizer in the night and cleansing gel, moistuizer and another moistruizer but with spf for day. Eventually run a toner soaked cotton ball around my hairline to prevent those bump from sweat and honestly my skin is very clear and smooth, i only had one pimple in my life and it was before any skincare routines, but to be fair im still a teen so my skin still produces the proper ingriedients that it needs 👍
