    Sono passati quasi 100 anni dalla sua morte.Caruso ti emoziona dalla prima all'ultima nota come nessun altro ci e' mai riuscito e ci riuscira' mai.La sua voce e' insuperabile e trasmette tutto il contenuto emotivo del pezzo musicale. Incredibilmente avvolgente, troppo distante dagli altri.

    Here he sings through all registers. Deep, middle, high. The voice in all registers remains exiting. Caruso was a baritenor with a warm deep base. I❤

    Having got a copy of this 1916 Recording Reissued under licence by His Master's Voice in the Golden Treasury of Immortal Performances Record Number CSLP-508 and the LP Record is Sacred Music I found this Transfer almost as good as my copy and the LP Record came out in 1956

    I have 1 original caruso recording around 1912 my friend has a old gramaphone and we see each other she plays it fo me it sounds like he is in the room

    Thank you, brilliant , with little recording technic,still the voice is great. Don't know why people compare, Caruso, Lanza, Pavarotti. They are all terrific in their own right. The recordings are more advanced with time. Thanks to all of them to leave as such a treasured legacy!!! Many thanks to the uploader to give us a chance to hear that excellent voice again !!!

    O Holy Night is the English version of the French "Cantique de Noël". The original words were written by the poet Placide Cappeau and the powerful music composed by Adolphe Adam. The song was premiered in 1847 by the French opera singer Emily Laurey. It has become a favourite for crossover sopranos - the best of whom is the Norway’s Sissel - but the best version of all is arguably this record by Caruso sung in French in 1916.

      Don't agree. This is sloppy singing. Georges Thill (with no Italianate effects) is much much better. It's a religious song, not a hello Mimi song. Thill takes the high note incidentally, Caruso makes a ten act opera out of it. Not for me.

Maybe by "italianate effects" you mean not believing singing in French ensnares one to adding nasality to every vowel? The "hello mimi" observation is nonsense. You don't like Caruso, just say that, instead making up some bullshit to justify your preference.

      Man, if this is sloppy singing, then I have to admit that I LOVE sloppy singing! Art is not about perfection, it’s about stirring up emotion and this certainly does that. Another thing to consider is that modern singers usually get a hundred takes where in Caruso’s time, recordings were usually done in one take.

      Der Eintrag wird ergänzt, weil's viele unterschiedliche EQ gibt. Er bezieht sich hier auf eine kostenlose *'Bass Booster App' (apk) - ohne* Zuschalten des BASS BOOST. Die meisten gehen ja mit Bluetooth in ihrem Gerät/Handy richtig um: Audio-Output Stereo, 'Advanced settings' überprüfen, *'Compatibility* Mode' der *App* 🎧 und evtl 'Sound Field FLAT' Ihrer Anlage (den BBoost nicht - oder vorsichtig verwenden).
      Auf *Artikulation* und Instrumente achten, dann wird der Effekt deutlich: viele denken, das sei nicht wichtig; ist es aber.
      "Ohr des Dionysios" - nur Aufnahmehorn - ohne Mikro. Sehr *beeindruckend!* Der "Samt" in Enricos Stimme ist nun da; die Qualität nähert sich dem Original.
      Modulation mit 'Bass Booster App':
      Der Klangcharakter der Stimmen wird dadurch nicht geändert. Weil jedoch die mMn. *kaum hörbaren* Obertonanteile >>2kHz crescendo-verstärkt werden, gewinnt die Wiedergabe relevant Brillanz (selbst die Akustik wirkt echt) und *Text* ist gut *verständlich.* Eine 'Zeitreise..'

      Vergleichen Sie bitte ab 1:54mit/ohne die EQ-Variation .... wie ein etwas verschwommenes Foto insgesamt klarer/schärfer wird. Auch an Instrumenten oder Textverständnis ('Surrogatparameter') ist der präsente differenziertere Klang erkennbar. Warum es sich so verhält, kann man am *Graph* der Funktion, die aus dieser *genauen* ! Regler-Position ( kein preset ) resultiert und eine Crescendo-Verstärkung der hohen Frequenzen zeigt, diskutieren: Er erscheint im Display. Wiesehr hochwertige Lautsprecher den Klang verbessern können, ist bekannt. Dass ein EQ das Ergebnis günstig beeinflussen kann, ist viel weniger geläufig.

      *EQ-Regelung* hat *nichts* direkt mit einer mgl. zugrunde liegenden Restauration zu tun. Sie wirkt aber wie eine Ohr'Brille' und kann (bei alten Aufnahmen fast stets) zu einem klareren Höreindruck der Wiedergabe führen. Das Schöne ist, dass es ohne großen Aufwand erreicht wird. Wer die Musik vom Handy aus (Kopfhörer/Bluetooth) steuert, sollte damit keine Probleme haben. Intensität der Handy-BB-(EQ) App *bitte weitgehend* ausnützen; Gesamtlautstärke ggf. auf Ihrer externen Anlage korrigieren!
      Es ist *NICHT LEICHT,* mittels eines EQ eine merkliche Besserung der Klangqualität antiker Aufnahmen zu finden. Dazu gibt's *kein* Preset! Die hier angegebene Einstellung© hat hunderte Stunden meist kleiner Schritte der Verfeinerung erfordert (durch Abgleich vieler historischer Aufnahmen von ECaruso, Orgel, Violine, Klavier usw. usw. - mit WFurtwängler, ATatum, KRichter, ACortot, SFiorentino etc. etc), um alle Praxistests zu bestehen. Insofern ist *nur* eine *GENAUESTE !* Befolgung wirklich zielführend in "die 1. Reihe".

      @@truesoundchris, original war das Singen in einen "Aufnahmetrichter"! Dies "verfälschte" bzw verzerrte die Stimme im Klang ungeheuerlich. Allerdings gehört dazu auch die unzureichende Wiedergabetechnik von damals! Alles, was die verschiedenen Glieder der Übertragungskette verbessern kann, trägt dazu bei, dem Originalklang Carusos näher zu kommen. In dem Sinne sind die Bemühungen mAn. sehr ehrenwert und sollten auch so gesehen werden. Die Übertragungs-Kette ist so stark wie ihr schwächstes Glied. Nicht zuletzt deshalb sind ALLE Einzelkomponenten zu betrachten.

      Of course. Lanza was a film star, singer, He had a tremendous powerful but totally untrained voice, he never appeared in an opera but acted the part of real opera singers. Gigle trained for ten years before his debut concert. Lanza was discovered overnight!
